We could not be more happy with how our new carpet turned out! Installing new flooring can be a stressful experience. However, everyone at Tompkins flooring made it as pleasant as possible. From my initial call, to visiting the store, subsequent followups and the installation, I was very impressed by their professionalism and honesty. Jim and Marco were awesome to work with. I had a lot of questions for Jim and he was always patient and courteous. They agreed to do our house despite being in Chino Hills and even held the carpet in their warehouse until we were ready for the installation. Marco and his team did a phenomenal job on the installation. We had an issue with our staircase (from the original builder) and Marco offered to come back to finish so it was done right. His advice and honesty really meant a lot to us. The price was comparable with other quotes we got for the specific carpet we wanted. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for carpet installation!

Great experience twice using this company. For carpet once and hard flooring the next time. After the positive experience with the carpet purchase this was the first place we went to for our hardwood floor.
We didn’t even have to visit another flooring store because the price was so good. My husband searched it a great deal too.

I give Tompkins a 5 star rating in all areas of the transaction, from Craig’s help with the selection of wood floor to the follow up phone calls with details of the timeline and the day of installation he showed up to make sure all was going well at my house with the installation. I appreciate the great customer service from beginning to end. I have already told some friends who are looking for flooring about Tompkins and highly recommend them.

We stopped at Tompkins to check out carpet. Frank was very helpful as he assisted us through the carpet selection, information about the padding, measuring how much we needed and to schedule installation.
Marco and his team did the installation of the carpet. They were fantastic! The crew arrived at the schedule time and were very courteous and neat.

We had a great experience. Jim was very knowledgeable, helpful and patient as we had to find a quick solution to replacing our wood flooring due to water damage. Jim helped to answer all our questions, made suggestions and gave us options to consider.
The install went smoothly, Alex addressed a few issues in a very courteous and expedient way and always kept us informed of progress, issues or questions about dealing with an issue and treated our home very thoughtfully.
We will use them again!

We love these guys!!! First our salesman, Frank, was so helpful when we were selecting our carpet and helping us decide what to buy. He really knew his about the carpet, and what was best for us and our budget. I had been to 3 other stores, and some of these guys didn’t even follow up, no call back, nothing! Frank followed up with me, confirmed, and the day after the install, made sure everything ran smoothly. Our installers were amazing. Marco and another installer were here, and everything was so smooth. Those guys worked so hard, and we had just had our upstairs painted, and I can tell you, NOT A Nik ON THE WALLS, absolute perfection and care for our newly painted home. These guys were amazing. I would recommend them to anyone.

We had been shopping around for new carpet for a few weeks and decided to try Tompkins based on great feedback we heard from friends. We had the pleasure of working with Frank who listened to our needs and wants and suggested a few options. After deciding on the carpet, Frank quickly scheduled measurements to be taken at our home then gave us a breakdown of the cost. The price was lower than other carpet retailers we visited. The installation process was exceptional and we are incredibly pleased with the final result. The entire experience, from our first visit to the store, to the end result was awesome. We will definately use Tomkins Laguna Niguel again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for flooring. Their selection, product knowledge, and customer service is unmatched.

I recently was looking for flooring and found Tompkins flooring in the same center as a big
box store I went to first. My experience was a welcome surprise from the big box store. I was greeted with a warm welcome and assisted with finding just the right carpet for my town home. I was called with an installation date and the installation crew was right on time to start my job. Very courteous and clean. Loved the idea of a family owned company. I would highly recommend Tompkins flooring to anyone who needs flooring.

Spare yourself the headache. Go with a different company.
Projected install of a 1000 sq ft condo = 2 days max (estimated 1 – 1.5 days)
Actual = 30 days of construction, 4 days of work.
Their response = they will give me $ 250 off my bill for the plants that they destroyed. Thanks. That helps. Not.

Stairs done wrong
Floor sinking in
Stair nose cracking
Not all parts ordered and could not be completed
Workmanship = poor
All these things could have be corrected… But the manner of which they have handled the situation in resolving the issues and compensating me for my time, effort, money etc and the disturbance to my life in taking 26 days LONGER than estimated (not due to anything wrong with the house or my fault — ONLY due to Tompkins flooring installation guys AND parts not even being ordered!) is totally unacceptable.
I will tell everyone looking for flooring to stay clear of this place. They are horrible. They don’t care about their customers and making the situation right. No morals. No ethics. No sense of right or wrong. They just don’t care about their customers.
In response to Jim (owner of Tompkins flooring) — I never received a FINAL invoice to pay until AFTER I sent in the check. I never refused to pay the bill. I asked for compensation due to your companies many faults and when $ 250 was all you did I sent in my check the very next day. The sales man I worked with asked me what I thought was a fair compensation and my response was $ 1000 discount. This review is neither slander or extortion — my original conversation was a simple request for fair compensation for the horrible experience that you have put me through. Of which, your company is taking no responsibility. To all you intelligent people out there reading this review — have you ever paid for a service WITHOUT A FINAL INVOICE OF BALANCE DUE!!!
I told you I would post on Unilocal about my experience, as other people have rated you low to allow potential future customers to become aware of the headache that comes along with your companies work. This is what Unilocal is here for — to share experiences, good or bad. Mine happened to be horrible.
It was on the installers fault the parts were not ordered. Had I known the $ 100 tip was going to be thrown in my face I would have never given it. I thought it was a nice gesture — the second installer was great, and I appreciated him fixing all the horrible work that was done the first time around. He was nice and courteous unlike how you’ve handled this situation, Jim. Work harder at your customer service and maybe your reviews will be higher.

Late review but here goes anyways. Ordered carpet from Tompkins last summer for a rental we own. Clarisa was very helpful and made some very good suggestions. Installers arrived on time and did a great job. Clarisa (I may be spelling her name incorrectly) called and followed up on the day to make sure everything was going smoothly.
I was very happy with the customer service with this company and the quality of the work. My sister also used them a few months ago and was also very satisfied.

Tompkins Flooring was exactly what I needed and more! Most importantly, they were fast! We measured on Saturday and installed on Friday. Added bonus, the install looks great and the installer took extra steps to cut a beautiful entry piece walking into the house! We are going to put our house on the market, so this unexpected touch was an awesome surprise! Frank is great to work with. Highly recommend.

Tompkins just completed a remodel of our home. Laminate and tile floors, tile showers, marble bathroom counters and some miscellaneous stuff. Kathy, our sales rep., is fantastic at her job and as a person. Her suggestions were great! She took much time with us to visit showrooms to help pick out marble & tiles. She also scheduled excellent contractors and managed them to insure project was completed almost on time. The quality of materials used and workmanship is excellent! We requested a few small touch ups which were quickly fixed. We are very pleased and highly recommend Tompkins Flooring.

We had a great experience with Tompkins. We used them to install new carpeting in 4 bedrooms of the first house we just bought. We wanted to go as natural as possible, so they gave us a killer deal on some all wool carpeting that rivaled the basic polyester or nylon carpet. We had an aggressive timeline and they came out a few days later and had everything installed before we moved in. Excellent experience.

I just had new wood laminate flooring (and some carpet) installed throughout my house. This time we wanted to do it right, so we went to Tompkins because of reputation… and they had what we wanted. Everyone was nice and helpful at the store (especially Frank). But the real kudos are for the installation team (George, Ricardo, and Jesse) who did a masterful job of preparing the under-​floor and professionally installing laminate, tiles, and baseboards throughout the house. They were highly skilled, friendly, and conscientious about their work. The results exceeded expectations.

I like to support local businesses whenever possible, and Tompkins did not disappoint.
They have plenty to choose from and allow you to take samples home no charge which was really helpful with our busy schedules.
I would recommend using Tompkins.

Called here to see if they carried wood floor cleaners and the guy (can’t remember name) was sweet enough to educate me on the best product to use, which was a lot less expensive than specialty cleaners the manufacturers recommended. All in all, he didn’t have anything to gain helping out someone over the phone who purchased flooring somewhere else, but he did. Just a good guy who showed honesty and character. Next time I need flooring, I’m calling him!

I edited this review because Tompkins came out and rectified the mistakes that they made. They patched the hole in the drywall in the bathroom and smoothed out the tile. They also installed the wood pieces that go in between each room.
The floors look nice so I upgraded it to 3-​stars.
