Betty’s Boot Camp for Dogs and Humans

Betty is awesome! My dog is a year old and going through a second series of behavioral training. She is very easy to work with and has given me great guidance!!! I would definitely recommend her.

My O-​ren is a sweet little super-​mix rescue. She loved miss Betty.
I had «learned» lots of tricks to teach my puppy on the internet but wasn’t able to make them stick. Having the group classes at the park were perfect. Betty would walk is through a lesson and I could watch the other pups work through it as well as my own. She spent time with each dog during the class and would often stay after to work with us as needed.
Homework is the key. lesson goals are clear. By the end of each week O-​ren showed marked improvement.
My baby girl is 9mo old and we are getting better on the leash every day. She comes when called. She has the foundation of a few simple tricks that allows us to add new ones quickly.

We have a wonderful small rescue dog that that didn’t know many basic commands. First we started with the Groupon deal for two private lessons. Then we signed up for Betty’s group training class. Both were a tremendous help. Our dog responded wonderfully to the lessons, and the group classes helped socializing our dog. Betty was great working with the dogs, and us. Great training, and very useful tips to use with our dog. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone needing some help with their dog. Classes were fun and the dogs seemed to like them. Great experience!

. My boyfriend & I took our (then) 4 month old English Bulldog to attend a six week group obedience class with Betty.
. We paid for the class via a Groupon deal. Betty was willing to give us the same price if we sent her a check directly, but we went with Groupon in the end because neither of us actually have checks. LOL

. I took the liberty of contacting Betty directly to ask some questions before signing up for the class & she was very helpful/​professional.
. There were a total of about 8 dogs (including ours) that came & went throughout the six week course. If I remember correctly, I believe Betty said that she likes to keep her classes between 8 – 10 so that she can give each «student» enough time during the class.
. To add to the point above, we really like the way the classes were structured. She taught us a few new things each week. First, she would demonstrate to the entire class what she was teaching. Then, we would go around & have each group (dog + owner) try what was just taught. Betty would often give individualized advice at this time depending on how each dog responded. Not all dogs learn the same way, so this was especially helpful.
. We had already started teaching our dog tricks prior to the class, but Betty really helped us to refine what we had taught him & reinforce the behavior.
. Betty is really responsive. We were early for the first class & couldn’t quite figure out where exactly we were meeting once we got to the park. We texted her to confirm that we were waiting in the right area & she was very quick to get back to us. I noticed another review on this page which was negative & focused on the fact that they waited a prolonged amount of time for Betty. Maybe they should’ve just texted/​called her. There was also another time when we were really struggling with some «homework» & texted her during the week for advice. She was very prompt to respond & we nailed the trick at our next class.
. The Star Puppy certification on the last day of class + «graduation» pictures were a nice touch.

. The location where the classes were held wasn’t always as shaded as I’m sure some of us would’ve liked. There were a lot of overheated during most of our classes. Granted, it was also during August/​September in California. so it was naturally hot out.
. Betty would sometimes show up a bit late to classes & was disorganized (e.g. forgetting papers in her car or all together).
. You have to pay for parking in the lot across the street. It’s $ 1/​hr, but we always ended up paying for 2 hours because we would show up early to have time to park, let our dog pee, & make it across through the tunnel.

I bought 2 private sessions off Groupon for my little Chihuahua. Betty was very helpful and patient. She brought her dog on the second visit to target my Chihuahuas aggression and to my surprise my puppy did very well! Loved her American bull dog. Betty was very professional and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend her services to others.

I used Betty immediately when my doberman was a puppy and knew she was going to be the one to help me train my new baby. With having a large dog their is nothing worse then having a dog that misbehaves or pulls you around on the leash. Lets just say after Betty’s boot camp my dog no longer had separation anxiety, and get numerous compliments on how well behaved my dog is. I can bring him any where in any setting without worrying about him being out of control. She taught me a lot and helped me connect with him on a deeper level. You can tell Betty genuinely loves animals which makes me love her even more. She has a real talent and passion for her job. Highly recommended!

We used a Groupon for two private lessons as we were having some dominance issues with our new rescue poodle-​mix and our youngest daughter. Betty had some great suggestions, and when she returned 2 weeks later, we were happy to report that they had grown much closer and no more aggression issues!
She was responsive to communication, arrived on time and worked with myself and all three of my kids (which I loved). I feel much more confident about owning my dog and being able to train him myself.
We look forward to possibly taking more classes soon.

From the moment you met Betty you will love her. She is always available to help and has many helpful suggestions to educate you about your dog. She is very honest and loving. We have a difficult Australian shepherd that had few issues that needed to be resolved and Betty did wonders with him to get rid of his bad habbits. You won’t be disappointed with her services. My husband and I are so happy we found Betty. She is a life saver and goes out of her way to meet your needs each and every time.

We took our 5 month old french bulldog, Buster, to Betty’s class after learning about her on Groupon. We are so glad we did! After only 6 weeks, our puppy could sit, lay down, stay, shake hands, roll over, «leave it», leash walk, etc. etc. Not only was she great with Buster, but Betty taught us so many useful skills on how to train our dog. She is obviously passionate about dogs and helping people, which shows through in every lesson. Plus, the class was a lot of fun and getting to know the other dog owners and their babies was great. Overall A++ experience with Betty’s Boot Camp!

I took my French Bulldog Bentley to Betty’s Boot camp. Her directions on where to meet and what time were easy to follow. She is very knowledgeable about dog training and is very attentive and helpful to each dog in the class regardless of behavior or age. We learned basic training and walked away each week feeling more confident :) I would highly recommend her and will proceed with the next level of class for Bentley. Plus we took great graduation photos today with the entire class. Great experience :)

We took Charlie, our 2 year old dog, to Betty’s basic training class. He already knew some of the groundwork covered in the first few sessions, but had other issues we really wanted addressed. The first 2 sessions were good reinforcement of the basics and by the end of basic training Charlie had learned to walk nicely on a loose leash and is well on his way to becoming a «canine good citizen.»
Betty’s approach to training is positive reinforcement. She wants you and your dog to succeed and wants it to be fun too. I wish I could add an extra star just for that!

I spoke with Betty by phone at length initially I had a very different experience than CJ did in his review. When I spoke with Betty she had multiple questions about my dogs quirky behavior that prompted my call.
All of her questions were thoughtful and insightful and it was clear to me that she was very passionate about fixing my dog’s problems … not just get a new client as fast as possible as many trainers do.
Our first two lessons have been very productive and it is largely because she is willing to listen first and train second. She was prompt and accommodating.
You should give her a call and see if you get the same great treatment that I did. I bet you’ll be happy with her process and results.

Trained both my dogs with Betty! She’s extremely knowledgeable and helped me out with some of the behavioral issues I was having with one of my dogs! She’s great with dogs, friendly, and knows what she is doing! I would highly recommend her services for training as well as dog sitting!

We took 4 training classes with Betty at Petco, she’s dog sat for us and now we do an agility training course with her at Terrace Park, in Dana Point. She’s knowledgeable, friendly, reliable and trustworthy. When you work with her you feel like you’re gaining so much more than training, you’re gaining an experience. I have used Betty as a dog sitter for my 2 dogs many times. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her. She is very knowledgeable about dogs and offers good suggestions on issues whenever I ask for her opinion. When we first met, Betty came to my home to become acquainted with my dogs and ensure she knew exactly what their needs were. As each trip approached she contacted me clarify dates and plans. While I was away on my last trip Betty contacted me to say that my 13 year old dog, Phantom, appeared sick. She sent photos to me so that I could see her condition. Betty made two separate trips to the vet with Phantom. She kept me updated on Phantom’s condition. On the second trip Betty had to carry my 50lb dog in her arms. Sadly, my dog died at the vet from cancer that no one had previously diagnosed. It was so hard losing my dog, especially when I was out of town. I can never thank Betty enough for all she did to care for my dog during her last days. It is comforting knowing that Betty did everything possible to look out for Phantom. I would highly recommend Betty.

Betty is one of the most experienced, professional, and knowledgeable dog trainers I’ve met in the Orange County area. After quite some time stumbling through different reviews and meeting dog trainers, I finally found Betty and was grateful that I did. She was skilled at making my puppy feel at ease during each training session while teaching me some unique tricks and trips that keep my dog obedient.
