This is a small place, but they’re so good here! My nails always look amazing, they’re really nice and upfront about pricing, and I never feel rushed.
Since they’re small, if you’re normally in a rush make an appointment. They’re really good at working you in though if you’re like me and can never seem to plan ahead.

I came in on Black Friday and this was a great time to go! The deluxe pedicure was perfect! This included a scrub and callus removal. My feet have never felt better. And the employees were so nice and helpful. The shop was clean and cozy. :) thanks again for the great service!

My neighbor who is extremely picky when it comes to manicures told me to come here so I did. All I can say is they do an AMAZING job, I just get regular gel manicures and pedicures but they meticulous when it comes to cutting cuticles and making sure my nails are filed perfect. I will never go anywhere else. I’m just upset I’ve lived here 6 years and have been driving all the way into Irvine for my mani/​pedi when Modern Nails is .50 away from my home! !

Great service. Clean. Reasonably priced. I have been here a few times and never have any complaints. The staff is so friendly and even if it’s busy, they will always take their time on my manicure or pedicure. I prefer Modern Nails over any other nail salon. Keep up the good work and I highly recommend this salon.

Reasonable prices, easy to find location on bottom level. It was T.T.‘s first day at this specific shop (I hope I spelled that right) and she did great! She asked how I like the shape and I asked her to make them squarish which she did. She got close with her gel manicure without touching the skin and I can really appreciate a longer lasting manicure. I will be back to see her again. Thank you!

My sisters needed a last minute nail set and we ran into this place. They did such a great job on both of their nails and the owners and employees are SUPER friendly. Being from out of town I wish we had a place like this back home. Also They are very clean!!! This place is awesome!!!

My daughters and I come here a lot. We’ve tried other places but they just don’t compare to the great work they do here. Very friendly environment and I always love my mani pedis when I leave, also very clean and they know their nails!

I came in a little later than I planned (half an hour to closing!) but the ladies were all more than happy to help me. Terry (sp?) patiently helped me pick out a fun color for New Year’s Eve– I’m super indecisive with stuff like this and she didn’t even flinch at the fact that I took 10 minutes to pick which color glitter I wanted.
She ensured my nails looked PERFECT and when we found a little issue with one of them, she insisted it be re-​done, even though it was well past their closing time. I told her I appreciated it but that it wasn’t necessary– but another girl came over to help and they quickly but very nicely fixed any issues with my nails (I wouldn’t have even noticed the «issues” — they obviously take a lot of pride in their work!).
I love coming here because of how friendly everyone is, the huge variety of gel colors, and the diligence they take to ensure their work looks perfect.

I hate to give this rating, but it’s come to the point where I have to. I’ve been coming here a long time and am usually happy. However, the last time I got my gel nails done they came off in 4 DAYS. I went back and they did redo it, but those still came off in a week. This review mostly is for my service yesterday. I went for a lip wax and as I’m sitting there, terry put the wax on my lip and then someone walked in the main door. She left me there with wax on the left side of my face and went to go basically confirm more business. She came back and ripped the wax off but at that point It was cold and had been sitting there. I now have 6 bloody scratch marks on my lip that are not only extremely painful, but ugly and she never should have done that. I would stay away and go somewhere else.

I am very disappointed in this place. I used to come all the time and enjoyed my experience. (They typically do a pretty good job.) However, the last three times I made an appointment they had taken walk-​ins and I had to wait for over 30 mins. On top of that they told me it would only be 15 mins– so I had to keep coming back only to wait again. Very frustrating when your expecting a relaxing experience. My recommendation: go somewhere else to avoid wasting your time.

This place is pretty great! I needed a place where a full set of acrylic nails (pointed is 30 $ for basic colour) wouldn’t run me 60 $+ (common for Laguna).
The ladies are nice enough and won’t chat your ears off if that’s not your thing. It’s pretty quiet the pedicure stations are clean and really comfy. They do accept walk ins but there’s only one lady who does acrylics so you might want to make an appointment.
Only complaint would be that when someone came in during my acrylic appointment asking for a fill the lady tending to me started to rush a bit which I found rude. but i was passed off to a sweetheart ho finished painting them and made sure I was dry enough to leave without doing any damage to her lovey paint job.

This place is the BEST!!! I love getting my nails done by Ty he does such a great job on my acrylic nails! I can show Ty a picture I find on pintrest and he gets it done! I always get so many compliments on my nails! This place is super relaxing it’s so close to the beach you can feel the ocean breeze while you sit and get a pedi. Love it! Crystal did a really good job on my pedi the sugar scrub they use left my legs soooo soft! I live in Ladera Ranch and I am more than willing to make the drive all the way down to Laguna because they are so great! Awesome customer service!

Usually I love this place but today I am outraged with the way business was conducted. I took time out of my busy schedule to have a mother daughter nail day and they completely messed it up. I had made an appointment for the both of us the night prior to our visit and requested that we could both have our nails done at the same time. When I came they had taken a walk in so my appointment didn’t even matter they said they would take us one at a time. We decided to take our business elsewhere. The lady didn’t even care that she lost our business! Horrible idiotic service.

It is such a pleasure to go to this salon and receive my mani/​pedi from the girls. Tha manager Lani is so gracious and goes out of her way to make your experience wonderful. I have visited every salon in Laguna and this is the one that i recommend. The staff makes an effort to make your visit peaceful and relaxing… so go in and relax!

I almost didn’t visit Modern because as I was leaving my house, my neighbor told me that her recent pedicure from here had begun to chip after just a week. Decided to give it a shot, though, since she also said that, otherwise, the experience was good.
I received what seemed like a very thorough job on my fingernails by one lady. A very quick job was done on my toes by a second lady; she was finished with my feet before the fingernail lady had clipped one hand! I, regrettably, failed to pay close attention but considering the time spent on my feet, I assume only one coat of polish went on – no second coat and certainly no top coat.
I originally intended to go back because the experience was a pleasant one but then something happened: My nail polish began to chip within 4 days. They used Opi (commonly used in salons) as the color coat. But the top coat was in a «mystery» bottle. I’m making assumptions here but I bet they are using substandard base & top coats.
I hate to give a bad review because the ladies were so very nice to me, the place was clean & comfortable and they are conveniently located with out-​front parking. But the bottom line is that the product was lacking. Bummer.

Pros: My mani and pedi seem to last forever! This is mui importante to me in a mani pedi. The chairs are new and have awesome massagers that actually work. They don’t talk a lot, and they are not hard on the upsell like the freaks at Happy Nails are. They have the latest magazines so I can get caught up on all the lame celeb gossip that I secretly love but don’t tell anyone. Mani pedi is $ 30 and worth it.
Cons: You can’t add tip to the card receipt… parking can be slim on the weekends since it is downtown Laguna. Best to walk if you live in town. Oh… and they don’t really help you put your shoes back on when the service is done. There’s no real direction once they are done with you.
