A little pricey, but worth it. Great food, conveniently located, and friendly staff! This place never disappoints!

Just horrible food. Service was ok. So sad! Cute place that used to be better. Good bread with a good view

Great and reasonable wine list picked for value not labels. Art deco old school décor in an ancient house. Antique furniture, random plates and silverware. This is a far from the usual formula as it gets. The filet is gigantic, tender, and perfect, the fish is always nice. Awesome rack of lamb, super jumbo prawns. Nothing trendy here. The veggies are pretty meh but that’s not why you are here. The homemade fresh bread is awesome. Amazing Belgian fresh strawberry pie! We are locals and regulars at this place and it hasn’t changed in the 30 years we have been coming here. Family owned local hangout.

I have loved Dizz’s for a long time, and missed it during the seven years I lived in the Bay area. Now that I’m back home in Laguna Beach, I can’t get enough of Dizz’s! I’ve heard people talk about how pricey it is — but here’s the thing: the food is incredible. There is always the option to go early and order from the Happy Hour menu — or order a small plate. Dizz’s is one of a kind!

This was a fabulous dining experience. My fiancé had the filet mignon and I had veal piccata. Mama Mia! Fantastic. The vegetables that came with our meals were done to perfection. Our waiter was attentive. The wine was delightful. And the chocolate cake dessert was over the top. This is small restaurant so you definitely need a reservation. Our next trip to Laguna Beach will include another stop at Dizz’s. Highly recommend this place.

My husband and I have been coming to Dizz’s for 32 years, and it has always been a fabulous dining experience. We do not come too often, even though we have lived in Laguna Beach for 28 years. We like to keep it for special occasions, our anniversary, children’s milestone birthdays. we brought our daughter’s future in laws to Dizz’s to celebrate her engagement to their son. Most recently we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with their wonderful filet, pâté, soup and unbeatable wines. It was just perfect, This is just what keeps us returning. Thank you Dominic, for the wonderful dinner tonight, we will most definitely be back and continue to tell all our friends and family about this special gem in our sweet town.

Selected this based on reviews from other Unilocalers and was not disappointed. Eclectic and warm. Our waitress, Erika, was knowledgeable and never seemed to «interrupt» like so many others do. The pâté that so many others mention was good(I’m not really a fan of it to begin with). The atmosphere was welcoming and not overly loud for a Friday night. The Vermouth with a slice of lemon peel was a wonderful way to cleanse the palate before our appetizer of choice — the garlic bread. Amazing pile of cheese with a dusting of paprika over margarine laden, garlic-spiked slices of bread. I could almost ding the use of margarine but I wouldn’t have noticed if Erika didn’t mention it. Both my caesar salad and my wife’s orange & poppy seed salad were very good. The caesar dressing was very close to what I make at home which surprised me. A good taste of anchovy without overpowering the clean and crisp romaine. Fresh cracked pepper and some nice wispy shavings of Parmesan. Perfect. Now on to the main course. I chose the Chicken Cordon Bleu and my wife had a nightly special — Opah in a Diablo sauce. Both were served with mixed vegetables and a little dollop of rice. The Cordon Bleu was constructed by wrapping sticks of swiss with sliced prosciutto, covering them in a butterflied chicken breast, and then topping with a brown veal-based pan sauce. The result was an amazing effective layering of taste and texture. Most Cordon Bleus that I’ve had were always wrapped or stuffed which ended up dry. This technique resulted in a perfectly cooked layering. My wife’s Opah was equally good. The Diablo sauce was a perfect balance of sweet cream and cayenne. Neither too heavy nor overly spicy. This was the first time that I had seen Opah served. The cut was from the belly of the fish and had a texture reminiscent of poached chicken and a very light fishiness(apparently that is a word). The texture and the sauce together resulted in a nice combination of buttery fish with a lingering cayenne spice. Also very good. Unfortunately we could not take advantage of dessert because we’ve been eating three meals a day which we almost never do. If you are in the Laguna Beach area, this place is a must.

3 years later and it’s still one of my favorite restaurants. They can’t do badly in my eyes. The loaf of bread melts in your mouth. Do each bite with a little butter. Pâté is always good and full of flavor. Mussels are fresh and loaded with onions and thyme. Vermouth is always a nice refreshing touch to start the meal. Sole was buttery with a sweet and spicy white wine sauce. Birthday pecan mousse: Heaven. So simple, so delicious and light. And to top it off, no matter the employees for the night, they’re always friendly and personable. Feels like family every time.

This is a hidden gem in laguna beach. Everytime I’m here the menu is different and the food never dissapoints. I love the interior decorations, you feel like you are going back in time. Did I mention how good the food is? After dinner take a short walk down to Victoria beach.

I came here per the recommendation of my mom’s friend’s son — and I will never, ever be coming back. *** To preface, we called TWICE to ask if the restaurant had oysters, as someone in our party had a craving for these precious delicacies from the sea. We were told that they were, «plentiful,» verbatim… *** My experience here began when I walked in and was«welcomed» by a woman(assumedly a manager?) putting her arm around me. UMMM. Since when is invading a potential customer’s personal space in this manner considered hospitality. Sure, if you’re hugging a regular that’s one thing, but I felt very uncomfortable and had to shuffle out of her awkward grip. Once I was freed, I couldn’t help but notice that the décor is stuck in the 50’s, which probably appeals to the elderly clientele that seems to prevail here, but didn’t do anything for me. We were then brought outside to a table with beautiful views(I’ll give them that). The waiter came with a few free drinks and some complimentary chicken pâté and wonder bread toast. I repeat, wonder bread. Next, he brings out the menu, which consists of 20+ separate laminated pages with 1 dish per page, for all of us to share. It was overwhelming to read and the food, like the décor, is clearly still stuck in the 50’s, ranging from beef stroganoff to duck a l’orange and similarly dated dishes. They come paired with a baked potato, to give you a sense of what this place has to offer. At this point, unable to get beyond the first few pages of the«menu», we asked about the oysters and were told that they didn’t have any. Say what?! After we called twice? We asked to talk to the manager who was very defensive and couldn’t provide an explanation for this strange misinformation. We left and went somewhere that had both views AND oysters.

Delicious! We stopped by on a Friday night when we were looking for something different and away from the craziness that a summer night in the village brings. We were met with an extremely warm reception. We drove but to dinner but notice that the Laguna Trolley stopped right next to the restaurant. Super convenient. When we were seated we were quickly brought some vermouth to clean our pallets and some pâté with toast on the house. For dinner we chose the Lamb Pops and the fish special which was a delicious Opah and cream of spinach soup. Everything was absolutely wonderful! Definitely break away from the bustle and experience this special piece of Laguna Beach history. You will be pleased you did.

It’s not often all courses are excellent, but at Dizz, they were! I had a to-die-for watermelon martini. Next, Caesar salad with tender greens and rich dressing. Oops, croutons were stale. Then the pork sliders were o-m-g finger lickin’ good.

You can’t go wrong with this eclectic nook. And you can’t go wrong with being greeted with THEEE most delicious Pâté de Maison ever, served with buttered toasted bread and a shot of vermouth to «cleanse the palate». Drinks were poured strong and I can’t rave enough about their Creamsicle martini! Their meatballs were one the best I’ve ever tasted. Seriously. Moist and spongy with a savory red sauce to make it go down easy :) Beware though: be prepared for home cooked style meals. You’ll see what I mean. And in that same thread, I took off one star for their over cooked pasta. Linguine came with the meatballs, my Tiger Shrimp entrée, and my boy friend’s Beef Bourguignon, and we hardly ate any of it because it was a bit too soft for our liking :-/To some this may be a bigger deal and might warrant more than 1 star docked off, but we’re trying to go low on carbs anyway… And again, it was that whole«eating at grandmas» atmosphere that made the soft pasta weirdly endearing… Oh well. We didn’t have dessert but I’m sure it would have been delish as well!

According to the Unilocal-O-Meter of today’s trendiest restaurants it appears Dizz’s is way down in the depths with many other long forgotten dining hotspots of years past. Only 147 reviews of an establishment that dates back 37 years? I too enjoy trying the newest restaurants like my fellow Unilocalers, but it is really satisfying to return to a place that you still remember fondly after a long absence. Enter Dizz’s. It had been maybe 25 years since my last visit, but was never completely off my radar since I’d pass by frequently traveling this stretch of PCH. I would always point it out to my passenger, or mutter to myself if I was alone that I really needed to make a re-do one day. Mi lady and I wanted to make an afternoon and early evening out of a pre-summer Laguna trip. I consulted with Unilocal Bud Marissa S and poured over many reviews of restos in the main village area. Nothing jumped out at me, and I kept flashing on Dizz’s. Dang it Danimal, just do it! Clicked on the Open Table link and made our rez for 6:30 on a Sunday. I was extremely pleased to see that nothing had changed except for the increased growth of the flora in the lush garden patio. We were immediately greeted, and since we were early we grabbed a couple of chardonnays’ and headed back out to the patio to relax whilst looking out at the ocean. So much better than being squeezed into one of the crowded village area spots. With our early rez time we were one of only four parties seated in the cozy dining room. Our server Dominic was always there when needed, and when I told him we were torn between the duck à l’orange and the rack of lamb, there wasn’t but a second of hesitation«rack of lamb definitely.» We split the rack and it was more than enough food with everything else that came with. All dinners begin with a delicious house made pâté, and a small glass of vermouth with a lemon twist. A great palate cleanser if there ever was one. Then a huge partial loaf of sour dough bread and butter is also brought out just before the entrée. Our courteous waiter informed us that there would be a split charge, and the advantage was that we each could order a salad or the soup du jour. On this day the soup was French onion, and I am damn glad I chose it. Possibly the best I have ever had. Oft times French onion soup is too salty, or the balance of the onion to broth is off. This was so perfect that I reluctantly shared it with my dining date. Back to the rack Jack. Very tender, and cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. The garlic rub shone through nicely without overpowering the meat. It came resting on a very flavorful au jus sauce and al dente veggies, and a twice baked potato tower. A wonderful meal is still to be had here. Food and wine prices are much lower than your village restos, and we also benefitted from the 7 day happy hour on our glasses of wine. For dinner we both sipped on a very nice Zin that was incredibly priced at only $ 9 per. Very generous pours too. One of Dizz’s claim to fame is the kitschy ambience, with everything artistically mismatched, and pictures of various long dead movie stars and musicians. I have always felt so at ease with the whimsical ambience. The building itself is an old converted cottage circa the 1920’s that also adds to the retro vibe. They still have the loose pages that are passed around the table in lieu of an actual menu, which is also a kick. No pretentiousness here folks. Consider Dizz’s for your next Laguna visit instead of the shiny new flavors of the month down in the chaotic village.

Brought my bf here for a pre birthday dinner and we had such a good time! He has been coming here for years, and this is my second time. The décor issue has been covered throughly in other reviews… cute place. Parking is a challenge. We like to order different things and share our entrees. I ordered the swordfish and he ordered the Steak Diane. I have — in my entire life — never had such a perfectly prepared piece of swordfish. It was so moist and seasoned just right. My bf took a bite and we both agreed… NEVER had better! The chef was a master at doing that beautiful piece of fish justice! The steak was delicious too, but it was overshadowed by the perfection of the fish. We will definitely enjoy the leftover steak later tho! A wonderful evening with great service, amazing food and even a view of the ocean before dark! Thanks for a memorable evening Dizz’s!

My family and I have been coming this«locals» restaurant for 20+ years. Its interior is charming and reminds diners or eating in an old Laguna cottage. The menu is diverse and offers a variety of steaks and seafood. What separates, this restaurant from other ‘locals” restaurants in area is it’s service. The staff goes out of their way to remember your name and make sure your needs are supported. Some recommended items include the house salad and the famous strawberry cake dessert. Reservations are recommended from weekend nights.

This place is GREAT! We were in Laguna for one night and our hotel mentioned Dizz along with some other local spots. Very glad we went with Dizz! Delicious food! Well-rounded menu with lots of different types of food: french, italian, american. Simple and delicious. Had tiger prawn pasta(huge portion) and Manhattan clam chowder and a really great Caesar. Boyfriend got steak and veggies. The restaurant is adorable, quirky, charming, accented with an awesome tea-lit patio/side yard. We sat outside and had a casual, but romantic meal. Also this place is VERYREASONABLE price-wise. You get a lot of food and your meal comes with soup or salad, warm bread and pâté. And Vermouth! Lotta good stuff! Waitress was super nice and attentive. Seriously a great dining experience! Go go go and go again!

Dizz’s As Is is in South Laguna Beach, about two miles from the main beach and is a very cool and different restaurant, unlike any restaurant I’ve ever been to! I came here with a party of six for a birthday. I recommend that if your party is three or more that you make reservations since the restaurant is pretty small. Our party had reservations at 7pm on a Thursday and our table was ready when we walked in. The interior of this place is a mis-match of furniture and decoration; nothing really seemed to match, but it went together in a random way. As I mentioned earlier, the place is small with only about 6 – 8 stools at the bar and less then 20 tables total in the dinning area. Very intimate restaurant. When ordering, the server will give each person in your party a couple of pages of the menu(it is really big!). I felt a little bit of pressure as I was going through the pages I had. I picked the Filet Mignon for my main dish. It came with mashed potatoes, veggies and your choice of a salad or soup. I picked the salad, which was good and came out pre-meal. My main dish was very delicious and the steak pretty much melted in my mouth… amazing! Three other people in my party also ordered the Filet Mignon, one person ordered the Lamb and another the Chicken dish. Everyone seemed to love their food. I should mention that all their dishes were about $ 40 as well, so they were pretty expensive. For drinks, we ordered two bottles of wine for the table — one white and one red. The wine was about $ 40 a bottle as well. Pricey, but good. We finished off both bottles of wine. Since we were here for a birthday, the server had the birthday boy wear a birthday vest(that was very clever!) and they sang him happy birthday and brought him a dessert at the end of the meal. I liked it! The service was spot on as well. Our server was very on top of his game and checked on us every few minutes. I liked it! Overall, I’d recommend Dizz’s As Is for a special night out! Cheers!
