Lavande

First spa experience given as a gift by my BGF as a wedding present. My treatment was a brow, facial and mani-​pedi.
Some of this was unexpected and I do wish my tech would have told me what she was doing I figured some of it out, like when she ripped the hot wax off of my brow. It was a shock, but I really am super happy with the results. My brows have never looked so good or needed so little attention. The facial was fantastic and the mani-​pedi was done to perfection. It was a nice relaxing time getting all dolled up for my wedding the next day.
I think I’m going to tell people to give me gift cards to this place if someone ever wants to gift me!

NEVER AGAIN. I went in for a walk-​in appointment. Woman at the front desk (who I later realized was the manager) was really busy with people coming in and quickly asked me what service I wanted… I said mani pedi and she quickly wrote it down and told me that it would be about an hour wait. I wasn’t in a rush so I came back in an hour. She told me that since I said I wanted a regular pedi and a shellac mani that they no longer could fit me in… I said well you didn’t ask me what type… secondly, I said I’ve never been here for one… thirdly I said I’ve waited an hour. I asked the manager and she said to me, «You didn’t ask for what you wanted.» I said there’s no way that I waited here for an hour for no reason. She just smirked at me and said that they could try and fit me in 3 hours later! Horrible customer service and the ownership obviously doesn’t care.

I was recently in Lafayette and was in need of some nail attention. I stopped by Lavande and they were able to do exactly what I needed. They were very professional, did the work in a timely manner and were delightful. If I lived in the area, I would certainly make them my permanent nail salon! I thank them for their service.

Great value for a lovely spa in a beautiful upscale city! Front desk staff is warm and friendly.
Massages: They have a special if you purchase two 50 massages they are only $ 59 each! Use one there and save the next one. Get it! Get it now! Shirley and Fatia are great massueres! The massage rooms are all relaxing with appropriate temperatures and light music. I like that their massage oils do not carry an offensive odor.
Pedicures: I have had one pedicure and it was nice!
They sell cute clothing and jewelry. Like a one-​stop girlie shop!

My fiancé and I did the couple’s massage package, and it was ONLY $ 150!!! So cheap for such a luxury!!! Will definitely come back!!! Oh the relaxation lounge brought back the Jacuzzi, and it looks wwaaaaaaaayyy better than I imagined! I read the reviews on here and I thought it wont be worth it.
My masseuse, Shirley, was awweeessoome!!! You have to book her! Made me feel relax and comfortable. (btw its my first time haha)
Will def. Come back!

For a man they have great Pedicures.

I can honestly say I have not returned since my last visit. I had been going on a regular basis, however, the «girls» that work the front desk are just too immature and ridiculous to be working in a spa environment. They all seem to want customers to think they are performing rocket science! Their snooty attitudes is really a detriment and I have heard others say the exact same thing. They are checking customers in and out and that is it! Any brainless wonder could do that but, they all need to be rewired with gracious and helpful personalities if they want to work for the public!

Love, Love, Love this place! Shirley is the best massage therapist! This place is great to go and unwind by yourself or with a girl friend. There is always availability even if you call the day before. Totally recommend this place!

My friend booked us for a girls spa day. We thought we’d have access to the spa facilities and the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi is closed permanently… has been for about two years apparently. So don’t let the pics STILL on their website fool you.
I asked for the Lavande pedicure, which is a couple steps up from their basic on the spa menu. It indicated a massage from knee to toe. There was no massage. From start to finish the pedicure lasted 20 minutes. That is foot soak, polish removal, exfoliate and moisturize shins, cuticle trim, nail shape, polish application, done. Sigh… not the pampering experience I was hoping for. I would not recommend.

This place is top notch quality. Not sure why the mediocre reviews. My fiancé and I have been getting massages with Luz and Shirley for over a year. They are both fantastic. Very versatile therapists but we prefer deep tissue — and they deliver.
This is our go-​to spot to relax. They give you a robe and slippers on arriving, and there’s ambient music throughout the facility. Get a great massage, relax in the sauna or steam room (available for ladies only) or sauna (gents). And top it off with a rainforest shower. You’ll walk out feeling like a million.
Also highly recommend the couple’s massage. It’s particularly well executed (roses, candles, etc)

This place has really gone downhill since my initial massage experience here a couple years ago.
At that time, the staff was personable, relaxing, the waiting room with the hot tub set the environment, followed by a warm greeting from your masseuse.
Now, the staff is quite rude. The waiting room? The hot tub is still there, just off-​limits and hasn’t worked in years. So it’s just an eye-​sore taking up half the room.
When you pay what they ask you wish to feel pampered to an extent, not as if you’re bothersome. The impression I get now is they don’t care all that much about the environment they create and the relaxation of the customer. Fix the hot tub or find something else to do with the space.

Started off a bit shaky when the person I spoke to on the phone was a bit snarky.
Second, the parking is awful. I understand that Lafayette is busy. But I hate to hunt for parking and fight some entitled Lafayette Princess for a parking spot (I did and won). If you are waiting 3 feet for a parking space with your blinker on, is that hard to understand? Not for these 40ish, over-​tanned, bleached out twits. They will race from the other side of the lot and try to steal and then try to act sweet. I don’t do sweet. I’m 50.
Third, the mani/​pedis we got were not good quality at all. I feel bad for the techs. They are kind and seem to try, but clearly, management pushes quantity, not quality. It’s rush, rush and you hardly get the «spa» pedi you expect. Mine and my daughter’s manis were rather sloppy; my pedi OK but my feet got less than good treatment. Four people worked on us at once, which I wouldn’t have objected to but again, we felt rushed.
The next day my feet looked like they had never had a pedi at all except that I had polish on my nails. The callouses were ever present. With other pedis they at least look good for a week. The manis were OK for our one time event but nothing else.
I would not go back and not recommend this «spa» to anyone.
I tipped fairly generous as I feel bad for these technicians. They do one service after the other and as I said, were kind. The cost was reasonable; I would not have wanted to pay more for what I received.
Also — I didn’t like the constant chatter back and forth. That’s not a spa experience; it’s more like a cheap nail shop in a strip mall. Polishes could use an upgrade as well. Many were almost empty and obviously old.

Gave Lavande another try today for a mani/​pedi. Experience was worse than before. The technicians chatted with each other and other technicians the entire time — even through the massage! When I asked to have the toenails made even, I was told they were and she begrudgingly filed them a bit more.
While my brow wax was fantastic, I will only be visiting Lavande for their facial services and will patronize one of the many other nail salons in town.

I get my mani pedis elsewhere, but for a massage, this Place is a really good deal. First of all they have special packages that have been going on for years, that is a great deal. Secondly the ladies locker room has a wonderful steam room and a sauna. But most importantly if you go there, ask for Fatiya, especially if you have emotional hardships that have led to musculoskeletal pain. She does amazing work. Highly recommended

BEWARE –While Lavande is a relaxing and seemly clean spa… I think everyone should be warned that they do not practice the bare minimum basic sanitizing or sterilization techniques with regards to cleaning their manicurist tools.
***This put every single patron who receives a manicure or pedicure at risk for HIV, Hep c and fungal infection.
I have made a formal complaint with Lavande but received no reply. I have also file a formal complaint with the California board of cosmetology

I want so much to like this place but each of the four times I’ve been and spent about $ 75 for a gel manicure and regular pedicure (and tipped generously on top of that) there is always something that makes the experience less than average and unpleasant. There’s not great attention to detail and there’s quite a bit of attitude when receiving the service. It’s as if I’m inconveniencing them just by sitting down let alone asking a question.
I could manage with mediocre nail service if they were nice and friendly but sub par service on top of attitude is just not where you want to spend your money or your time.

I received a gift card for a pedicure here and added a manicure on my own dime. The check in was a bad start, rude girls who just seem to be very «nose up». Due to a surgery i have one arm in a sling, no help was offered to get up on the bench to put my feet in a «kitchen sink» kind of configeration. No massages chairs, music or friendly service. The girl (cindy…name tag) who did my pedi did not introduce herself, was not engaged and kept speaking in vietnames to the coworkers. I asked about the shellac polish and still have no idea what the answer was. Anyway… dont go here, overprized, lousy massage on arm and legs and no help putting flip flops on… polish was ruined before i left this shop.

Very Clean and quiet. However my manicure left as lot to be desired. Didn’t really examine it until I got home today (and put on my glasses!) Nails were rough and unfinished from the filing. Plus it looks like there was maybe one light layer of polish. Its already wearing off… not chipping or gouged just so thin in areas that it feels like its two weeks old! Last time for this place

There are many Lavande locations and this is my least favorite. The nail technicians are awesome, but the front desk help is a bit rude and snotty.
Each manicure and pedicure here has been pretty good. But my last pedicure the massage was cut short and it was coupled with the parrafin wax (so the feet were not massaged– just the legs).
The front desk service leaves something to be desired. The ladies are snobby and very «Lafayette» (which I feel that I can say since I grew up here).
In the end I will keep going to Lavande on Santana Row (in San Jose) and the Lavande on Polk Street is great too.

This review is for two separate experiences.
Four stars to my masseuse Claire, the massage was wonderful. She understood when I said I needed work on my shoulders from stress at work.
That being said, the jacuzzi being closed is one thing, the loud woman getting a foot rub in the «relaxation lounge» is another thing. Subtract a star.
Then I came back to get my nails done this week. The woman I booked the appointment with on the phone was exceptionally rude. Then again another two girls at the front desk were rude and almost ignoring me, as if I was a burden for bothering their chit chat as I was checking in. Completely ignoring my question about making an appointment for another massage to discuss their plans for the weekend. Needless to say I didn’t get to book another appointment. Subtract another star.
The woman doing my nails did a great job, although she was pressed for time. The receptionist kept walking through all the nail stations to make sure everyone was working quickly. You could tell they had overbooked by the amount of unhappy women sitting getting manicures at the mani pedi stations which are uncomfortable.
