Attractive and wide wide selection. Have found them super helpful and easy to work with. Always happy to help quoting prices, suggesting contractors. They do not do installations themselves though. Best bet is to have your own team and work with ET&M

I have worked with Monica and Amelia over the last three years on a number of projects. They are extremely knowledgeable, fun, realistic, etc. The store has a wide variety of tiles, whether you are looking for natural stone, ceramic, cement tiles, just to name a few, ranging from very affordable to the very pricey. They will work with you and show you alternatives, based on needs and budget. This is the only tile store I use for my projects. Never disappointed.

This place is simply the best. I’ve been to every tile shop in the East Bay and did a half a dozen tile projects personally at my house in Rockridge. It’s an art form for me. Just moved to Lafayette and am now embarking on the first of probably a half dozen tile projects. Emilia and the staff here are helpful, patient and pleasant and the selection is surprisingly large and very nice. Took a few samples home as well before zeroing in.
If you’ve been to many tile shops «pleasant» is never a term associated with tile professionals. Do yourself a favor and come here. I also came here based on the positive reviews and was not disappointed.

European Tile & Marble is simply the best. I am not exaggerating when I say that this was one of the best retail experiences I have ever had.
Emilia & Monica are friendly, knowledgeable, and have a great eye for design. Emilia worked with me to find the tiles that were just right for our project and budget — never any pressure, just plenty of good ideas & helpful information. She also keeps a «library» of tile samples on hand, and was so patient as I made good use of them to figure out what really looked best in our space. :)
We visited quite a few other tile/​flooring places before finding ETM, and in my opinion there’s just no contest. If you’re looking for a great selection of gorgeous, quality tiles and someone creative to help you make an informed decision, just head straight to European Tile & Marble. It was truly a pleasure, and we absolutely love our new bathroom floor & shower!

I highly recommend that you visit European Tile and Marble first when you’re shopping for tile. Monica was an absolute delight to work with throughout my tile selection process. Not only does she help you pick out your tile, she will sketch out and suggest different layouts for the tile in your space. We recently remodeled our bathroom and with Monica’s help, I was confident that we had chosen the right tiles and proper layout for the room. I visited with Monica several times during the several months up to our remodel, and she was always so helpful with suggestions and patient with me as I changed my mind several times. Our bathroom looks amazing and I could not have done it without Monica’s help. We have another project coming up involving tile, and I look forward to working with Monica and European Marble and Tile again.

If you are looking for the best selection of beautiful tiles and more, this is where you want to come! If you also like to work with women with excellent taste, gentle guides on what goes with what, knowledgeable and experienced sales people, and really lovely personalities, don’t hesitate to peak into the secluded location and find a wonderful world of ceramics and stone tiles. I have been remodeling bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, and entry and every space is more special because of the tile I got from European Tile and Marble. I’m gong back for the fireplace now. I highly recommend European Tile and Marble Co. Emilia was patient, creative, knowledgable, and generous with her time. The store is filled with beautiful choices, and my experience was vastly better than at any of the other tile stores that I went to. This store is a great combination of a wonderful selection and genuinely caring service.

I should have started here first! The ladies here are just fenomenal. Knowledgable, pleasant, patient and with a big smile on their face. I came back too many times, taking samples back and forth and there was never any pressure. They were even willing to give me advice on other bathroom questions I had. They spent hours with me and then some more when I brought my husband in on a Saturday. They stayed past their closing time so we could make a final decision.
One of the tiles I have chosen had a better price in a different tile shop and they were absolutely happy to match that price.
Please disregard the old reviews on the site pertaining to the old owner. I rarely take the time to write a review but after dealing woth a lot of people while remodelling my bathrooms and kitchen I had to share my very positive experience with Emilia and Monica. Outstanding customer service from start to finish!

The quality and diversity of the tile selection is excellent and the space is well organized. This was our first stop to look at tiles for a kitchen and bath renovation. Monica spent so much time with us making helpful suggestions and working with Emilia to show us what a larger sample of the tiles would look like. They have a large work table where they help you lay everything out and try different options. They also encouraged us to take samples. Monica even warned me when I was considering a tile that was extremely expensive and she showed me other options. I went to two other tile places afterwards in Oakland and Berkeley and the customer service just couldn’t compare. I will be encouraging our friends who are renovating to stop here first!

This place is 1000% better than it used to be. The new owners Emilia and Vic are incredible. Their knowledge and desire to be helpful is very welcomed after dealing with the previous owner. Great customer service and wonderful selection in the showroom. Love the tile that looks like a carpet/rug…very cool.

New ownership makes all the difference. Being a designer in the area I previously crossed them off my list because of horrible experiences my clients had. After hearing of new ownership I took a few trips in there and Emelia is great. She takes the time to recommend things, gets out samples, and orders samples in when she doesn’t have them. Very courteous to myself and other clients. She knows her products and is quick to suggest something when I am stuck. Please give them another chance as the new owners have done a 180 degree turn. I am so happy to have this tile shop again on my list of ‘go-​to’ places!

What a difference new owners can make! I can’t recommend European Tile & Marble enough.
Our first project was a small laundry room and Monica and Emilia spent so much time searching for the tile that I wanted, helping me make decisions, and helping me with the design that I actually felt badly! They definitely had the attitude that no job is too small. Vic installed the tile as soon as it arrived, installed it quickly, and did a perfect job at a very reasonable price.
Our second project was a bathroom and again Monica and Emilia spent a lot of time with us. Monica suggested some patterns that I wouldn’t have chosen and spent a lot of time drawing the designs and emailing them to me. I ended up going with her suggestions, as I figured I would trust the expert. I am SO glad I did! The tile pattern in the shower looks amazing and everyone that sees it loves it.
We had a lot of delays with the bathroom project which impacted Vic (installation) over and over. He was very patient and did an amazing job working around our other subs and issues. He never complained and I was so thankful that he was so easy to work with. He came up with some new ideas on the fly and had great attention to detail.
European Tile & Marble has great selection, design and installation capabilities, and wonderful people to work with. Looking forward to our next project…

European tile went above and beyond to help me find the tile for my bathroom. Not only were there prompt with service they gave great design ideas. I will definitely inform my friends of their great service.

NEW OWNERS! Please ignore the customer service comments in the previous reviews because the new owners are VERY helpful and nice! The man who owns the store is also an experienced tiler, so he can give insight that most stores cannot.
This tile store has the biggest selection I could find in the Lafayette/​Walnut Creek Area. And they have reorganized it so that it makes better sense now and you can actually find things. I wanted some Ann Sacks tile, which you can only see or get from their showroom in SF, and they got me samples and are able to order it for me! This was really going out of their way.

I was completely overwhelmed with selecting tile for our kitchen and bath remodels. ETMC was recommended by a designer to help me out. It was amazing! Benci was so creative and listened to me about what i wanted. Even when one of the tiles i selected ended up the wrong color, he worked with me to find the best solution. Highly recommend that you go to ETMC for all your tile projects!

I’m in the middle of a major remodel and have purchased tile from them on 3 different occasions. Be forewarned, they can seem a bit scattered and high energy but I have never had a bad experience in dealing with them. They have gone out of their way to make sure I’ve gotten just the right tile and they have a great selection there in the showroom. I would definitely use them again.

OK, OK, if you are a California softie, this may not be the place for you, but it you want some European flare (and just enough attitude to make the experience fun), this is the place! We ordered over 3,000 square feet of tile from European Tile & Marble. They knew their product, they beat the price of their competitors (we shopped a total of six stores) and they delivered this large order one day ahead of schedule. They understood our needs and were very responsive. Highly recommended!

If there was a prize for the WORST customer service, this place would win hands down. I have never had an experience like this where someone doesn’t want business. You’d think in this economy that they would actually like to have customers come into their store. Not here.
First of all, we weren’t sure they were open since there was an Open sign with no lights on. When we got closer, we saw that the door was open. We came in. No one was there. We called out and saw a red shirt in the back. I then heard someone say, I’ll turn the lights on and sighed.
When we asked him to show us a specific tile, he looked perturbed. I asked him if he was able to help us and he said, «oh, I am in the middle of something very important» and walked away. Unbelievable.

Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. I walked in, the representative (don’t know his name, he never introduced himself), asked how he could help us. I told him I was looking for a particular brand, he said he had another line that looked like that. I asked to see it, he showed it to me and then asked «what is your budget?». When I told him he responded with «You can’t afford anything here» and then turned away. My friend and I just looked at each other with dismay. I wouldn’t buy a pencil from these folks. Anyone that deals with public knows that you DON“T EVER TELL SOMEONE THAT THEY CAN’T AFFORD TO SHOP at their store. I may not afford his product but my clients do. It didn’t help that he smelled like booze. Maybe that is why he was ticked, we interrupted his cocktail hour.
