D & J’s Boiled Peanuts and Shaved Ice

Nothing better than side of the road boiled peanuts. Glad to have a consistent place to get them near my house, even if he is only open on the weekends. Think I paid a little over $ 5 for a pretty big bag and a shaved ice. Peanuts were great. Going to try the spicy ones next time.
Wasn’t a huge fan of the shaved ice… way too sweet for my taste, but probably an 8 year old’s wet dream… I said as I continued to eat it :)

Finally, a respectable shaved ice place here! What’s even better, is that it’s New Orleans shaved ice. Anybody that’s been to NOLA, knows that their shaved ice rivals Hawaii’s. Check out Hansen’s Sno Bliz in NOLA if you don’t know. You will get educated. Anywho, since it’s the colder months, he only has like 5 or 6 flavors, but during the summer, he has 20+. I’m sure if you went and he didn’t have what you wanted, he would get it. To top that, he’s got some of the best boiled peanuts I’ve had. They are all either jumbo or have 4+ nuts in the shell. We got the regular flavor and they were great. I plan on trying the Cajun next time. I got a shave ice and a pound of boiled peanuts, and it only set me back $ 5. Can’t beat that with a stick!
There’s two «problems» I see with the cart. That he’s only at the spot on the weekends, which I can understand, because it’s probably not his main source of income. I’m sure if he gets more business though, he’ll add some more days to it. The other «problem», is that it can be hard to find. It’s in an abandoned lot area off Ladson Rd., somewhat near the 78 intersection. If you are a fan of small businesses and good food, like shaved ice and boiled peanuts, THEN GO. You won’t be disappointed.
