Hanawalt Roger M DDS

I see Dr. Hanawalt every six months and have always had excellent care from him and his staff. I would highly recommend Dr. Hanawalt.

I have been going to Dr. Hanawalt’s office for many, many years. My mom went to him first and because she highly recommended him, I went there. I must start by saying that I have always had severe anxiety when it came to going to the dentist– so much so that I avoided going for many years. Everyone at the office is friendly, warm, and inviting. They were aware of my stress issues and treated my very kindly. After I had my daughter, and she got her first teeth, she too started going to Dr.Hanawalt. Mine is one of the few kids that loves going to see the dentist. She LOVES Dr.hanawalt. He always goes out of his way to chat with her and make her feel at ease. I now see Dr. Hanawalt’s daughter, Dr.Peri. She is just as wonderful and experienced as her dad is. I would highly recommend either one of them. They are friendly and accommodating, always able to give me an appointment that fits my schedule. Their dental assistants are all very nice and always do a great job. No one likes going to the dentist (except for my daughter) but since you need to go, I highly recommend Dr. Roger Hanawalt’s office.

INTERESTING. There are 7 reviews for this dental office. HOWEVER, the only one that shows up without a ‘filter’ is the single negative one. Great. So, to try and counteract that, I’ll reiterate my previous review. This is an EXCELLENT dental office. If you want a REAL person to care for you… then this is the dental office for you. Dr. Hanawalt’s daughter is now on the team too. which allows better Dr. availability.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hanawalt since I was a teenager. I had my first crown put on at his office and was pleased with the results. I have a tartar issue and have to have regular cleanings. I am always seen by the same technician and she is awesome. She remembers my history and is warm personable. I would recommend Dr. Hanawalt to all ages.

Let me preface this by saying that my mom loves him. Not him personally, but as a dentist.
That being said…
I had avoided going to the dentist for years due to fear. So, of course I had some dental issues. These were noted during a June exam.
I was back in for a procedure in February, at that time it was noted that two of my teeth were sensitive to temp and pressure. A filling was scheduled (with a resident dentist) for March.
I was still in pain after that, and returned. The filling was redone (by Dr. Hanawalt) due to a piece falling out.
The pain continued, and I went back. I was told that I was causing the aggravation by grinding my teeth at night. Dr. Hanawalt filed the filling down. I bought the night mouth guard he recommended.
I was still in pain. At this point, I was hesitant to go back in because I just wasn’t getting any help.
Went back in May. Now in random, excruciating pain. Throbbing, sensitivity, sharp pain when biting. Dr. Hanawalt suggested it was stress. Again, my fault. No new x-​rays (ever during these months).
The attitude was that I was exaggerating, that I couldn’t be in that much pain. Apparently my «stress» was all centered mysteriously around this tooth.
Needless to say, I was upset. I left to the waiting room, where he was to give me a referral to another dentist. At this point, he comes out with my chart. Seems that the tooth in front was cracked (this from exam in Feb. prior). Why this was never looked at before, I don’t know.
Turns out I need a root canal which I got the next day (by a fabulous dentist, see other reviews). It took the other dentist a matter of minutes to figure this out.
I found Dr. Hanawalt to be condescending and dismissive. Months of pain could have been avoided.
(The office staff and hygienists were all courteous)
But, like I said, my mom thinks he’s great.
