The only reason that Thai Legacy is getting one star is there is no way to rate ZERO. This place was infinitely better before it moved. The last two times we were there the food was below par and the meals were served 20 minutes apart. I ordered a dish with eggplant, corn and tofu. The first dish arrived with no corn and extra peppers. Twenty minutes later my meal arrived with three tiny pieces of eggplant and almost all corn. We told the waiter we were unhappy so he said he would give us a discount by not charging us for fried rice. My advice is go somewhere else.

I always order food to go but this time I come home to only 5 pieces of broccoli in my sautéed broccoli and what looks more like a half portion in my to go box. Very dissappointed. My bf had to cook up some leftover chicken to fill up… I’ll be checking my food from now on before leaving.

This place needs to close or to reconsider why it’s in business. They had one person out front trying to serve the six seated tables and the other people coming into the restaurant. It took 10 minutes to get water during which time one group got up and left before being served, we got to survey the food on the floor and the other uncleaned tables. We ordered a Thai iced tea that never came and ultimately left(and I’m betting the couple behind us left as well as they looked like they were about to get up). Poor atmosphere, dirty and zero interest in any customer service. If you’re visiting from out of town and looking for some good Thai food, don’t bother making the trip. Hope they take care of the locals better than the people that were in this sad place the Wed night that we came.

Every time I’ve been here it’s always been a bit quite. Not sure why, but I’ve always had fairly good service. A bit slow on the water and tea refills. Not sure if the lady I’ve had is a server or a manager, but she’s always nice. They changed locations and their new location is much better as well as the décor. I usually get a spicy curry or noodle dish. If you like spicy, ask for sriracha — sometimes they have the spicy sauce with the crushed red pepper and seeds, yum. The portions are large enough to share, but if you’re really hungry — you can easily eat the whole thing yourself. They charge for extra baby corn :(

We always get the large Tom Kha coconut soup and have always loved the curry & salads; like the Yum Nuah(Thai beef salad), Yum Soon Den with glass noodles and ground chicken & shrimp tomatoes, mushrooms, and roasted peanuts, lime juice with fresh cabbage, it usually has enough spice to make it slightly uncomfortable. I am so bummed. The last 2 times we have come the food is NOT the same. We love the owners daughter she’s positive and bubbly and takes care of your needs, however something has majorly changed. Our Yum Soon Den was served plain without sauce or spice. This used to be a solid 4 star place. They took it back and re-tossed it. It was better but not even close. Even the soup was just good, not great like it used to be. We used to come here a lot and the last couple of times only got worse. So sad, we really hope things improve. They do have beer on tap now. We’ll be watching the Unilocal reviews.

I’ve been to a lot of Thai restaurants and I have to say that the food here was probably some of the worst food I’ve had. I’ve given this place 3 chances now and I will not be back. Even Thai Smile is better taste-wise(which is saying a lot). When I think of Thai, the idea of bold, distinct flavors comes to mind immediately working my taste buds into a frenzy. When I think of Legacy Thai, I think of something else. I’ve ordered the Pad Phrik King, Tom Yum Kai, Phad Thai, and several other dishes, wanting to find something good. All of it has been remarkably bland and uninteresting. There was completely unnoticeable use of mint and cilantro, lemongrass and chilies. Things that you would expect to have a slight sweet flavor are sickeningly sweet. FYI. I tried to use the 10% Unilocal check-in discount today and the waiter said that it needed to be printed out despite the app stating that you just need to show the coupon to the waiter. Whether it was stupidity or bad training I’m not sure. Either way false advertising for less than average Thai cuisine

Avoid this place. I called for a take out order and was told 20 minutes. I arrived there after 30 minutes. The server told me how much it was and expected me to pay then which i did. She made no mention of my order being ready. When I asked about it she said it will be a while. Thirty minutes later I gave up and walked out — they never gave me any explanation whatsoever.

Horrible service!!! I called a lunch order in the night prior & was clear I needed to pick it up by 11:40. They said No Problem. Apparently it was a total problem. I arrived at 11:45& they said they were packing it up… 30 minutes passed & I was finally walking out! Every 5 minutes they said«just a few minutes» or «it’s getting packed». That is SO beyond irritating! And all they said was«sorry.» They were clearly understaffed and the customers in the restaurant were also noticeably irritated. The food is good but service is a BIGGER factor to get me to come back.

We drove 20 minutes to this place because of the rave reviews. Both me and my friend ordered pad Thai and what came out was a wide noodle dish with a sweet and sour orange flavoring. Half of the dish was cold. When we inquired about the noodles, I was informed they were out of pad Thai noodles(no one told us this before). We then said we’d have curry instead to which she responded, we are out of all curries as well. Seems like they are making signature dishes in the kitchen with any sauces they can find.

Must have caught them on an off– day. Called in take out order for pad Thai noodles shrimp at 1:14 pm. Arrived 1:45 no food ready yet. Sat and waited another 15 min inside. Got pad Thai chicken, when I ordered shrimp! Small portions, too for $ 16.00! Couldn’t wait for them to remake so I left! Not like they were having a rush(only 4 tables) in the restaurant! Based on this, will never go there again. Too many other good restaurants!

Food is great. when they make it right. It seems the food goes up an down in quality quite often(an they cant ever make up there mind on how spicy a 2 will be). I wouldn’t order to go because they skimp on your food an usually never turns out well. Service is pretty good, I had a few bad severs but it seems they do not work there anymore. Now to the important part ! Panang curry(imagine the peanut salad dressing in curry form), yellow curry, chicken salad, spicy fried rice have been my go to items on the menu. I have tried a few others but I keep coming back to these. The major cons have been the water… is down right nasty. Seems to be there never going to get there a/c fixed :(

Friends & I were staying nearby, and decided Thai takeout would be the perfect accompaniment to lounging around a pool & watching the late 90’s epic, Spice World. I got the green curry w/chicken, my go-to with new Thai places. It didn’t have eggplant, like some places do, but the portion was enormous(quart size container) and the green peppers & bamboo were great. Here’s the real reason I’m writing this: those spice levels that they ask you about(pick a number, 1 – 5) are NOJOKE. I said«medium,» not knowing the numerical stuff, which I’m assuming was a 3. The dish was SPIIIICY. And I really like spice, but as my eyes watered & face reddened, and as I write this the next morning w/mild indigestion: just a reminder to myself that next time, maybe I should say«2.» Also, Spice World is insane & might be genius.

Our first trip to this place and we were quite pleased with both the service and the food. They have 5 different heat levels you can choose from on all the dishes. They also have plenty of not spicy dishes for the ones like my wife that doesn’t like to much heat we did the level 1 and that seems to be a comfortable heat for both of us. We had the sweet and sour pork and the chicken and broccoli, also the summer spring roll with shrimp was real good. Great place and a do over for us! M&J

Recently moved to this location which has a smaller dinning area but is quaint and decorated tasfully. Parking was convenient and they offer a lunch menu that’s reasonable. It was hot so, I started off with a refreshing Thai ice tea. I ordered the tofu pad woo sen which included salad and cup of tasty soup which contained baby corn, tofu, mushroom and a rich broth. I requested my entrée to be prepared a certain way and the waiter and chef made it happen and tasted exceptional. BTW the Palm Desert location is closed for the summer on Cook St.

(Dined 04÷18÷14 F @ 12:00pm): The best Thai food restaurant in La Quinta(they didn’t exactly have much competition)! For the past two years, Legacy Thai has been my go-to first meal once I reached the desert and before I headed up the hill to the music wonderland of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. It was barely a mile away from my home for the weekend, the Homewood Suites by Hilton, and I simply craved Thai food. Whether it was fate or kismet, they’ve got my business where Thai restaurants were slim pickings. Here was how my latest meal went: Spicy Drunken Chicken Noodles — Lunch Special($ 10.95) ~ A simple cucumber and leafy side salad with a light house dressing and creamy hot curry soup accompanied the main entrée. Although the salad was adequate, I really enjoyed the soup albeit the 90-degree weather may not have been the right time to eat such an item. Oddly enough, I kept wishing there was some tofu in it. ~The spicy drunken chicken noodles was a heaping mound of thick rice noodles with ample pieces of diced chicken and various veggies. The spiciness was tame so I had to kick it up a bit — I liked things hot! It also came with a large scoop of steamed white rice. Add some chili sauce to that, too! Service — I was greeted and seated immediately by a young woman. They’d just opened for lunch and only a few diners so I had my choice of where to sit. I was given a menu and a glass of ice water, and my server returned a few minutes later to take my order. The salad and soup came out instantly followed by my entrée minutes later. My water glass was constantly filled, and they cleared away the empty dishes. The check was delivered as soon as I was done. It was all quick and easy. Great job! Parking — They were located in a rather spacious outdoor shopping center, so plenty of free spots everywhere. Absolutely no need to park on the street. Atmosphere, décor, ambience — With the exception of your standard Thai cultural decorations and motifs, you had colorful walls and a wide dining area with many wooden tables and chairs evenly spread out. Although there were plenty of glass walls, the glass was darkly tinted so the natural lighting was totally muted. The electric lighting thankfully seemed to be diffused, so it was a chill atmosphere. I didn’t happen to notice either TVs or background music. Attire — Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, with the lack of Thai restaurants in the area, thankfully Legacy Thai didn’t rest on their laurels since they had the market cornered at this time(I believed there were some Thai places in nearby cities). But for the two times I’ve dined over the past two years, they haven’t disappointed me. Their prices across the board were comparable with any other Thai places I’ve been to; maybe a buck or two more than some hole-in-the-wall places. Somehow, I never asked if they had Thai iced tea boba — WTH?! I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(total paid experience was around $ 12.00 before tip). I was sold on the food and service, so I planned to return the next time I was in their ‘hood. And, they accepted my credit card of choice… AMEX! 4.0STARS

When we walked in, we were warmly greeted with a smile. We found a location we liked & were seated promptly… Jennifer was our spunky server… She was very helpful & funny… I personally like a good laugh & she helped us to enjoy our first dinner experience at Legacy Thai. We ordered Potstickers, Pad Thai with shrimp(level 3 heat), Spicy Eggplant(level 3 heat), & Thai Tea. Jennifer helped us understand that the levels of heat(spicy) were from 1−5…2 being medium &5 being the hottest. The food came out as spicy as we ordered it… :-) The Potstickers had burnt edges, but were tasty & came with a nice sauce. The Pad Thai & Spicy Eggplant had good flavor and perfect level of spiciness… Yum! It was a lot of food for just the two of us… so, we took it to go… We’ll eat that tomorrow! Yeah! The jasmine rice was a little mushy(not as firm as I’d like) but still good… The Thai Tea that was initially served tasted funny to me… I told Jennifer that the milk tasted like it was starting to go bad… She checked on it, agreed & brought out fresh Thai Teas… Thank You for serving us well! I hope we have you as our server next time we dine there… ^^ The rest of the staff also seemed to be happy to be there… that’s good! :-) I saw that there were quite a few lunch specials that seemed reasonable… I’ll try that next & let all you Unilocalers know how it goes! There was a 10% off special for checking in… That’s a nice Bonus! Plus when I presented that offer, our server wasn’t bothered or inconvenienced in the least! Great service! Thank You for handling things well! :-)

Was in La Quinta for a conference and was craving Thai food. Did a Unilocal search and came across this place. I ordered the small shrimp hot and sour soup and the spicy beef salad. The soup was great! It was spicy and sour, and was great with rice. The beef salad was OK, it should have been called spicy and sweet beef salad. Overall I enjoyed it. If I go back next time, I will get a large soup and a side of rice. .

2 stars is accurate-«Meh, I’ve experienced better.» When I first walked in it took a few minutes of me standing around watching all the waiters before someone asked me if I had been helped, and had the assumptioning I was ordering to go(maybe because I was alone at the time?). Food came relatively quick but service wasn’t so great: she didn’t pick up our salad plates when we were done with them, and when placing my masaman curry on the table, she didn’t wipe up the slosh of peanut sauce that was left was on the table! I paid around 20 dollars for a thai tea, a side salad and masaman curry. Thai tea was nothign special, salad was literally a small handful of romain and two slices of tomatoe(I’m used to cabbage and shredded carrots). The masaman was about $ 12 – 13. The masaman was what got me. A friend ordered the spicy eggplant which was pretty good and tasted fresh, but when she put the curry in front of me, it looked like a bowl of chunky gravy, no kidding. It was a weird grayish brown color with chicken, potatoes and onion. The peanut sauce flavor was overwhelming, it was basically peanut sauce curry. If you’re totally in to the peanut sauce, which I am, then this is for you. Just be warned that it might like look like a bowl of something else! Overall, I would probably only return for their lunch special and beacuse it is one of the only thai places near my home. Other than that, the service was slightly below average and the food could be a little more authentic.
