History
Established in 1970.
The Crow’s Nest opened in July 1970 in what was once the guest house for the bayfront home where the owner resides. At first only paintings and sculpture by local artists were sold. In the early 1970’s when turquoise became popular a few pieces of Native American jewelry were added, and over the years the main focus of the gallery has changed from local art to Native American, with the greatest demand being for jewelry. Regular shoppers include many who reside either full or part time in New Mexico and Arizona, but prefer the selectkion found at The Crow’s Nest.
Meet the Business Owner
Fern Y.
Business Owner
The owner is also an artist who has worked in most painting media and also created sculpture in copper, bronze and aluminum as well as pieces that were cast in bronze. She lived in New Mexico for eight years where she developed a love for work of the Native American artisans.
After she started selling Native American jewelry in the gallery she took
a course in silversmithing so she would be able to explain to gallery customers the process of creating the various pieces.
