Little Lana look fabulous after her cut, just wish I would’ve had her showered as well. She was loosing fur left and right when I picked her up. It overall they did a great job getting her fur under control.

I have been to so many groomers before and I think I have finally found my permanent one. I did not catch the name of the woman who helped me but I think she is the owner. She was so nice and helped me to my car because I had my baby in tow. But my lab looked absolutely beautiful. Her fur is fluffy, white, and she smells so good. Other groomers tend to not get my dog this clean and I can tell immediately when they do a good job or not. My dog has a thick undercoat you need to really get your fingers in there with soap. The barking lot did it. The owner was very informative when I picked her up about what she did to my dog and I appreciate that. I will definitely be coming here again.

Comments about groomers in general, and specifically about The Barking Lot. People, listen to me. NO animal is an angel while getting bathed and groomed. It is the groomer who is the angel, and they have to love and deeply understand the animal behavior and how to control it, or they would not last a week in this profession. They also have to be willing to lift heavy dogs and can suffer long term health damage from it. I have worked in a grooming shop a little bit and no dog and no cat stands still. They just want to go home. Now, add to that sharp instruments and water and what do you have? I remember helping when a professional photographer came to this shop and all I had to do was keep the dogs in one spot. I was AMAZED at hard it actually was to just POSE a dog, much less take hair off the face and other sensitive areas. Be appreciative of the work these people do every single day to make your pet clean and well.

Hi every one! Just wanted to let u know that this is the best place ever and I’m really proud of vickey Frey. She was my teacher 4 years ago and she thought me every thing about grooming and let me tell u that I learn a lot but it is really difficult for us cause we have to deal with dogs that bite or jump all around the table Etc… Well I just wanted to tell everyone to be patient with your groomer cause your dogs can be really good dogs at home but when they are at the groomers its a different thing, some of them are really good and some of them are not and that’s the reality so please u should understand and not get mad. It’s really stressful for us to groom difficult dog and make the look good when there not behaving. Thanks again vickey I’ll always be thankful with u for everything! Your old student Laura!!!

Took my 2 yr old golden here for a trim and a bath for the first time. SHE LOOKED AMAZING AFTERWARDS! She was super soft and super clean. The staffs were really friendly too! I am definitely coming back for hers next bath/​haircut

I have a wire-​hair terrier who is «low maintenance» (actually she hates being groomed) I bring her here for just a shampoo and trim, no drying or grooming needed. Vicki and Ariana are fine with that and I am always out of there for $ 20 including a tip!

My husband and I have been taking our cats here for a few years now. We absolutely love this place and so do our cats! Vicki and Ariana are amazing. Can’t say enough kind words about them or their business. You won’t be disappointed!

This place is the best! Extremely friendly and polite staff. I have a yorki, jack Russell and a chihuahua that they take excellent care of! And their prices are so reasonable to. My pets always come out looking like a million bucks! And another great thing is that in between groomings I take them in to get their nails trimmed. And they do it as a FREE service!!! How great is that! You won’t regret bringing your four legged kids here !!!

It’s okay. My dogs groomer of 6 years took a vacation and my little girl, Olive, needed a bath desperately. Olive is a 7 year old Shih-​Tzu. They seemed to have an attitude and implied that she did not behave. Which, is interesting because for 7 years she has been groomed with out complaints. Was super cute and fluffy and I appreciate them getting her in so fast, but I will not return here. Mostly cause’ I got a very weird vibe.

I have taken my dog here twice — The first time they did a pretty good job. The second time they accidentally took a pretty decent-​sized chunk out of his ear, but being a new pet owner I tried not to be too over reactive. Because he looked and smelled so good I thought I would give them another shot, but I left messages on their machine to make an appointment twice with no response. I then took him to Posh Poodle down the street and had an AMAZING experience there. I will not ever take him back here.

This place is horrible. The lady is so rude and unfriendly. It took almost all day for them to cut my dogs hair. When I picked her up they said that was my dog was very difficult to deal with and made it seem like it was my dogs fault. She was so rude about it and made me feel embarrassed. My dog wouldn’t stop shaking the whole time we were in there, she was obviously very stressed out. Shes never been that way before and where we lived before she would always go to the groomers just fine and have no problem and would always be her happy self. Definitely never taking my pet here again.
I strongly advise you to keep looking for a different groomer.

The Barking Lot is hands down the best, most caring groomer our dogs have ever been to! They always work to get you in quickly, do a fantastic job and are wonderful with my pets. Our labs have always been in the $ 18 — $ 25 price range (range has depended on their size and if you want a full blow dry) and our dogs have always felt at home while there. I never realized just how uniquely amazing Vickie and Arianna were until I took our dog to Petco recently (as I needed grooming on a Sunday since we were hosting a party at our home). The people were like robots who did not seem to enjoy what they did or being w/​dogs in general. And the prices were steep — it was nothing like the experience I am used to at the Barking Lot. Vickie and Arianna genuinely cares about their clientele — both people and pets. I can’t sing their praises enough.

They are always helpful and quick, and will make you an appointment as fast as possible (today I got in with 5 minutes’ notice). I have ornery cats who will not let me clip their nails and Vicky does it in 5 minutes, no problem at all. She’s got a way with animals, and it shows. I recommend The Barking Lot to everyone.

I came to the barking lot in order to take a private class on grooming my dogs. This place is amazing, I got to see hands on how they care for animals and their processes when it comes to grooming dogs. I have even more respect for dog groomers than ever. It’s hard work!
I got one on one, hands on training that has helped me immensley with keeping my dogs groomed in between appointments. Would highly recommend the barking lot for anyone who cares about how their animals are treated «behind the scenes».

It’s near impossible for us to get our two Australian Shepherds groomed and cut for oh, I don’t know, less than $ 120. When I discovered The Barking Lot’s student groomer prices I was blown away. We paid less than $ 60 for both of them. Both are very hairy, but we didn’t want too close of a cut. They both ended up looking really great and the students did a professional job. I would recommend The Barking Lot to anyone!

I’m a student on a budget and this place gets what I want for my dog done! I have a pom so it can get a bit pricey always getting her groomed. 25 $ for a haircut and bath? I’m IN! I was a bit hesitant at first, but it was done in good time as well. I’ll be coming back. Oh, and I found it really hard to find this place from National City, but I’m not going to deduct a star for their location, anyways, its near my favorite sushi joint.

$ 25 for a bath and haircut, yes! Its tough to get appoinments so book 2 weeks early. Get the student groomer for best price. They cut Lucy’s hair really low but it turned out ok because I wound up stretching her haircut by 3 months. They are nice but dont expect any bows or ribbons on your cute pooch.

We have two shih-​tzu puppies who needed a first grooming. Vickie called me back in a timely manner to set up our appointments. The staff was friendly and impressed my mother-​in-​law with their attention and support. They were gracious enough to accept a picture and note from me about how we wanted the dogs trimmed. They even called my husband to check on a detail about the faces! They took a long time with the puppies and WOW… those dogs look great! Thanks!

This place is great! At first I walked in and thought oh dear this place looks umm a little crappy but since a friend reffered it I brought my pups (6mo old terrier mix & 4mo poodle) to The Barking Lot and they came out amazing! :D, I had the student groomer and she was great and they only charged $ 25! per dog which is great because I’m a student on a budget with 2 dogs. They smelled great, looked very neat and happy. The groomer listened to what i wanted and informed me on what they were going to do. They got washed, brushed, trimmed, nail trim, ears cleaned, and a sanitary trim. I love this place its great.
