Dr. Van Horn is amazing. A true artist. I was living with a hideous baby tooth that was discolored and visible. Dr. Van Horn fixed it beautifully when other dentist had no other options but to pull it. He also closed my front gap. Seriously amazing!

Great dentist! He does not run any scams on his patients and he only recommends treatment that is necessary. If you are looking for a good dentist you can trust I highly recommend Dr. Van Horne. I have not had any issues with the his work.

About 15 years ago, I moved to East County and I needed to find a dentist nearby.
Dr. Van Horne had an office within two miles of my home, so I gave him a try.
I have been with him for all 15 years!!! He does careful and thorough work and will
take the time to answer any questions you may have. I have had ZERO problems with work he has completed on my teeth. He invests in the latest equipment to insure
the best possible dental treatment. Over the years, I’ve had root canals, crowns, and
several fillings. Dr. Van Horne has a computer at every chair and walks you through
procedures. He also compares your current x-​rays with previous years to chart your
dental health. I have been nothing but pleased with Dr. Van Horne’s work and will
continue to trust my dental health with him!

I went to this Dentist many years ago, I think he is a sadist, and enjoyed inflicting pain on his patients. I felt the needle, and I felt the drilling as it hit nerves! then he said I needed a root canal, and he referred me next door to his friend — I should have known something was not right, when this Alleged Endodontist was wearing a flannel checkered shirt with no protective coat etc. Needless to say, I have had crowns over 15 years, but the only 2 Dr Van Horn worked on ended up decaying. Now I see he’s focusing on Cosmetic dentistry? Lord help us all !

I’ve been to my fair share of dentists, and when I got new dental insurance, I was on the search for a GOOD dentist. My last dentist insisted I needed every single filling in my mouth re-​done and I recieved pushy phone calls each month to schedule appointments for the procedures… Needless to say, I wasn’t about to go back there.
I was referred to Dr. Van Horne by a co-​worker and I’m very happy to have found a dentist like him. I HATE going to the dentist, but Dr. Van Horne and his staff make the experience as simple as possible. He explains all procedures, makes sure you are aware of all options, and makes sure you understand what he’s going to do before he begins. We discussed the necessity of replacing all the fillings in my mouth, and surprise, they all didnt need to be replaced.
Andrea at the front desk is so friendly and helpful, as are the hygenists. Andrea made sure to have a print-​out of what my insurance covered and broke down my out-​of-​pocket costs for each procedure.
What I appreciate the most is that Dr. Van Horne and his staff understand that going to the dentist is NOT FUN, but they do everything they can to make the experience as easy and painless as possible. I would refer Dr. Van Horne to anyone in San Diego who needs a good dentist.

I started going to Dr. Van Horn after a traumatic experience with another dentist in the area (ummm… involuntary uvulectomy)!! His receptionist, Andrea, was extremely helpful with explaining my insurance benefits (United Concordia through Tricare), what would be covered, etc. She explained to me that even though some dentists say they will take my insurance doesn’t mean they are a participating provider, which would mean more out of pocket expenses for me! I had to have a couple cavities filled and needless to say, after what I experience at my old dentist office I was completely terrified. Dr. Van Horn did an EXCELLENT job settling my nerves and throughout the procedure I never felt a thing! He does a great job thoroughly explaining what is going on and why certain things should be done. I ended up needing my wisdom teeth removed and he had no problem referring me to an oral surgeon where I could have full anesthesia.

Whatever you do, don’t go to this hack. This guy was my dentist for about a year or so before I moved up to Orange County. He told me that I needed gum surgery — luckily I never did it because no, I didn’t. Told me that I had a cavity (which I thought was strange since I had never had a cavity) and it turns out that I probably didn’t. Told me that I had several other cavities forming and would need them filled soon. I don’t.
After moving up to Orange County, I went to a new dentist. He did x-​rays and confirmed that I didn’t have any cavities at all (forming or otherwise). It has been over five years now and I am still cavity-​free. He also laughed at the idea of me needing gum surgery.
Dr. Van Horne is definitely running some kind of scam getting patients to do work that isn’t needed. He should be ashamed of himself and you should steer clear of his office.
