Business Owner

Rafaela Chagas made her dream of opening her own spa come true on February 28, 2010. The grand opening of Natura Waxing Lounge and Spa was a complete success. Rafaela came to San Diego 12 years ago from Brazil to study English. Rafaela needed to make some extra cash to support herself through school and she discovered that her waxing talent was in demand among her friends. She became so popular that she could barely return her phone calls. Rafaela’s dream for years was to open her own spa where she and her Estheticians would be able to attend to all clients wanting the authentic Brazilian waxing and facials. Rafaela proceeded to get her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from SDSU and two months after graduation Natura Waxing Lounge and Spa became a reality.

I love this place! I go in for waxing with my girl Gigi twice a month, she’s awesome :-) For my birthday I wanted to treat myself to a massage, well first I was super late then I forgot to put $ in the meter. They not only fit me in for one of the best massages of my life, they ran out and put money on the meter for me! They also took $ 30 off my service for my birthday!

Eh wish my experience was as great as every other review here… the girl working at the front wasn’t the nicest. The girl who waxed me was super quiet which is fine, and pretty thorough as she tried to get ingrowns. I usually don’t get ingrowns and I’ve been getting waxed for well over a year now, which is why I’m not too happy. I’ve had a ton of bumps because of ingrowns and that’s made my wax really not enjoyable. Also it’s been less than a week since my wax and my bikini area is already partially grown back, which usually happens for me around the 9 day mark. Not too happy, but it could just be the way my body took the wax!

It was my first time getting service like this at all, and my departure from the dreaded razor. Being new, I did not know what to expect, nor the pain a first-​time would endure.
Overall, my experience could have been more gentle. I feel like I was thrown into the fire. I wasn’t given a chance to breath or adjust. I felt like any other numbered appointment holder. But, my nethers look great at least!
I do not like the use of talc downstairs. I’ve read some studies reporting the dangers of this. I was not given any other options but talc, which could be improved as well.

Great experience! I’ve been getting brazilian waxes for over a year now and today was my first time at this spa. I would highly recommend for any first timers, because this was honestly the least painful experience I’ve ever had! Gigi did an amazing job!

My usual place only has one girl and although she is amazing, she books up weeks in advance which never works with my schedule. My sister and friends recommended GiGi at Natura. I was very hesitant to try and new place but purchased a Groupon and went for it. My experience was unfortunately not pleasant with less that optimal results (I didn’t end up with Gigi, who I specified I wanted to be with). I am giving this place 5 stars because the owner, Rafeala, is absolutely amazing. I rarely have time or money to treat myself so when I do, I want it to count. I rarely complain but was so annoyed with how my first experience went down that I messaged Rafeala. Not that it was awful, but it surely wasn’t a good wax. She went above and beyond to make me happy. She emailed me back within hours and said that the next wax was on her. Usually if I have a bad experience somewhere I simply don’t go back but she even said she would do my wax herself. It was a few months until I could get back in to make an appointment and she periodically text messaged me reminding me to please come back and that she wanted to make me happy. Finally I was able to go back last week before my husband came home. It was a disaster down there! I was with GiGi as requested this time and she was truly a professional! Sweet and had a good sense of humor. She used sugar wax, hard wax, and was such a perfectionist she even went through with a tweezer. It ended up being the best wax I’ve ever gotten. My hair was really long but the pain was totally bearable! She was quick but extremely proficient!
I really think that businesses that take care of their customers and provide 5 star service even after not 5 start service originally deserve 5 stars on Unilocal.The owner of this business clearly goes out of her way to make sure that the right thing is done, which I really appreciate! I can’t thank Rafeala and Gigi enough for a great experience. I’ve sent two friends in to Natura with GiGi since! THANK YOU!

Yarik is amazing. She always makes me feel more comfortable and goes above and beyond. She always asks how I’m doing and makes sure I’m good, both in my personal life and during the wax. I go to her for both the full leg and the Brazilian. I have real sensitive skin and she always gives me tips to help with it. I was so scared my first time but she was just amazing. I absolutely love her and wouldn’t go anywhere else

Beyond satisfied with my Brazilian done by Yarik! I had been going to another spot in hillcrest and was traumatized at my last visit. I vowed I’d never get another Brazilian again. But I had a change of heart. So I got on Unilocal and came across this little gem in La Mesa. I was scheduled with Yarik, and she did an awesome job! She was very informative, fast but gentle. I love that she educated me on the do’s and don’ts after getting waxed. I look forward to my next visit and other services! I highly recommend Yarik if your looking for someone professional, fast, and efficient!

I’ve been a long time client at Natura. I started going for waxing (Sasha, Yarik, and Rafa are great!), then found Shavonne and her amazing hair cutting and styling skills, and today Gigi gave me an awesome birthday Swedish massage.
It is unlikely that I will be going anywhere else for hair, skin, and massage services.
I love that Natura is a family owned business, and that they take such great care of their long time clients.
I recommend this place to my friends all the time.

I’ve been coming here for the past couple months for Brazilian waxes, and recently underarm waxes. Sasha is simply amazing! She always makes me feel as comfortable as possible! I was extremely nervous the first time I went for my Brazilian, but Sasha was so nice and accommodating about everything! Especially since I have eczema and sensitive skin, I get worried about what I can apply if it causes irritation. But the waxes are fine with my personal skin, which is a thumbs up. But Sasha just makes everything more comfortable for me, and once you find a good esthetician, you never want to have anyone else. I highly recommend her, especially for first timers!
As for the store, it’s very neat with plenty of magazines for waiting. But every time I walk in, I never wait more than five minutes! The store is in an area where you pay up to two hours of metered parking, but I’m sure there’s some side street parking too. I also like how you can either call or book an online appointment! I always do the online booking since my schedule is so sporadic, and it makes be schedule them only a couple days before it. Especially if I need Sasha!
Bottom line: Go to Natura for a great and comfortable experience!

I came here for a Brazilian wax and I used the Unilocal check in deal. It was a good deal, but I was a little disappointed with the wax. It was a lot more messy than I was used to and when she was done with me, I was left with a lot of excess wax all over and it was very uncomfortable. Overall the wax was average but I would have appreciated if she cleaned up with wax remover or oil! Price was good though.

I booked an appointment with Yarik because of the reviews on here. I haven’t had a brazilkian wax in years… from what I remembered it was horrific! Not So! Yarik was so fast and careful, that it was the best waxing experience I’ve ever had. I no longer want to go to anyone else.

I been to both locations, but this location is closer to where I live. I usually do the Brazilian wax and I am very satisfied with their services. They are always prompt with my appointments and the girls are always nice, and they always make me feel comfortable. I recommend this place for both men and women.

After my first visit here I wasn’t too pleased with my wax, which left some stubble on the sides which resulted to me having to shave a week after.
The owner saw my Unilocal review and personally contacted me to talk about the experience. I thought that was really awesome and showed that they really do care about their customers, which told me to come back in and she will make sure I have an excellent experience and she was right!
I had a Brazilian with Sasha and she was great. She was not super fast which made it very tolerable, considering I’m a baby when it comes to waxing. She asked how I felt about tweezing and I said go for it, she even made a point to get ingrowns. Because of this I will definitely be back

The moment I walked in, I felt super comfortable. Nervous, but comfortable. Ready.
I have enough piercings and tatts to have a higher tolerance for pain, but I was still freaked out about getting waxed for the first time. A Brazilian. Go hard or go home, right?
I was greeted by incredibly sweet girls and GiGi walked me back into the private room. The entire experience went so smoothly, pun intended. GiGi was so professional — she let me know about each of the waxes and what to expect — but at the same time, so friendly and easy to talk to. It was perfect considering how vulnerable I was laying on that table!
Will be going back! I have an appointment booked for a few weeks.

I’ve been coming here for quite a while and I feel like it may be time to update my review. I can’t say enough positive things about how great Natura is. Everyone I’ve encountered here is warm, friendly, and professional. I cannot imagine a world in which I would ever stray from my beloved waxing salon.
I love that they send me email reminders about my upcoming appointments and then also call to confirm or give me the option to reschedule. Let’s face it, I’m a bit forgetful, I need those reminders. Don’t most of us? They also send out nice thank you emails after your appointment as well.
They do lots of services here beyond waxing. I remember last year I had a waxing appointment scheduled during Octoberfest and I took the Trolley down. They called and offered to rebook, but I’m easy going, I’m not about to let parking get me down. When I got there they had some of their gorgeous ladies giving free massages to the lucky patrons of Octoberfest! And of course they can take care of all your skin care needs. One of these days I’m going to try one of their facials.
The thing that has me coming back every month though is their amazing wax. They offer three types of all natural wax here. I have very sensitive skin and this makes all the difference for me. That combined with the beautiful and gentle Yarik makes for an almost painless experience. I’ve only ever seen Yarik for my treatment here, but I’m confident that everyone here is just as great.
