We perform Fleet repairs for serveral businesses including «Terminix» (pest control), Almighty Services (plumming), Pacific Chemical (pool service) and more. We specialize in treating our customers like family (we love our family), doing the job right the first time and charging fair and honest prices. History

Established in 2007.

Dave and Connie Bennett opened Express Auto Service in October of 2007. Dave has been in the automotive field since 1977 working for independents as well as dealerships and currently holds ASE Master technician, ASE L1 and California smog certifications.

We wanted to have a business that treated customers the way we would want to be treated, to treat them like family members and sell only what is needed to get their car safely back on the road without selling a bunch of unrelated/​unnecessary repairs. We will however honestly advise customers when we see the need for additional repairs and service, giving everyone a fair and reasonable price, and treating you with the courtesy and respect you deserve. We feel that we have been successful in what we set out to do, just look at our reviews!

Business Owner

Connie has been Dave’s wife, partner and best friend for 30+ years and is the wonderful, happy voice that greets our customers and answers most of the phone calls. She left her former occupation of professional pet groomer to take the role of acting service advisor/​manager at Express Auto Service and does a wonderful job. Now don’t let her previous field of expertise make you think she doesn’t know about cars, because she has more knowledge of cars than many who have been in the automotive field for years. Was gonna buy a car from one those crappy car lots that are all along the Blvd. Called this placed at noon after seeing the Unilocal reviews and they were able to squeeze me in for a quick $ 23 inspection. They were out inspecting the car within minutes, found issues, and took the time to actually show me the exact nature of the issues. %100 spot on, couldn’t of been more impressed. Even though I didn’t purchase the crappy car, it was all worth just finding these guys. Family owned and friendly, I will gladly be back. Best part, they didn’t even charge me. How cool is that. Maybe b/​c they felt bad that I actually had to drive that piece back to the dealer lot lol! Thanks Express Auto!

I was referred to Express Auto by a friend who takes his car here regularly. Took my car in because it was making a weird noise. My brake pads needed to be replaced and Paul showed me what my brake pads looked like and showed me what they’re supposed to look like. They explained what needed to be done and showed me on my car what issues it had. Alicia and Paul were awesome and friendly. Will definitely be taking my car back to them in the future and I would refer them to anyone.

My friend Carole and her son who lives in Santee have taken all their cars here for years, including a 2004 Toyota Celica with over 300K miles that she recently traded in on a new Prius. It was still running strong when she sold it, and never had any expensive repairs needed. I am writing this review because several times, before I found my present (more local) mechanic, I called and spoke with Dave and Connie when I was considering selling a car, or buying an older classic (appreciating) car in its place, or when I felt that another mechanic was trying to cheat me. Dave took a lot of time to review my situation, quote me his prices for repairs others advised me to do (or told me they weren’t necessary), and always gave me excellent advice, even if it was not to his advantage. If my present super-​mechanic retires before I expire, I will make the trek out to La Mesa for car service. If you live in East County, I recommend you give Express Auto Service a try.

BRING YOUR CAR HERE! Express auto service is a fair and honest mechanic. This place was recommended to me when I moved here two years ago and I have never had to go anywhere else. They always fix my car in a timely manner and I am always quoted a fair price with options. It is a family run business and Dave and Connie are the best!

Found them as I had recently moved to the area. I decided to use Unilocal to help me find a decent and honest mechanic. Boy, did I choose wisely. The mechanics there are quite knowledgeable, and there has never been an occasion in which they did not know how to solve a problem. They are so honest that once when a warning light came on in my car, they did the tiny repair and reset the light. They said that it was so minor that they were not charging me! Needless to say I have been bringing my car there ever since.

I took my Acura here after driving to San Diego from Arizona. My car started to make a noise during the drive, and I wanted to get it checked out before making the drive back to Arizona. The owners were friendly and helpful. They checked out my car and determined that it was safe to drive back to Arizona, no repairs required. Much to my surprise, I was not charged at all for the visit. They looked at the car, took it for a drive, and spent time talking with me. I would absolutely recommend Express Auto Service to anyone.

I started taking my first Hybrid here in 09 or so, after seeing the positive reviews on the Car Talk «find a mechanic «part of their web site, and boy am I glad I did!!! I have saved hundreds of dollars on major services every time I have gone in. Dave knows hybrids inside out, so don’t waste your money at dealers unnecessarily. I recently also had some custom lowering done, and paid almost half of what the dealer wanted.
In fact, this place is so good, one of the well known local car dealership OWNERS takes his personal cars here! (two of his cars were there the day I was there), The prices are always very fair with no surprises. Thanks Express Auto!!!

While getting your car repaired is never fun, this place is awesome in so many ways. They showed me exactly what was wrong, gave several options and suggestions, and repaired our car quickly. I had taken it to the dealer first and they gave me a horse$hit diagnosis an estimate that was nearly $ 1,000 more than what I was charged here.

This place is amazing! My first time ever coming with my car being super loud along the way but I haven’t experienced any customer service better than this. They started working on my car right away and gave me a cheaper price than I expected. Based off the loud annoying sound my belt makes they gave me some advice to look after I politely decline they didn’t give me any pressure and I loved that. Family owned and couldn’t be better Dave will probably be one of the nicest guys you meet. A must if you have any car trouble!

Express Auto Service did it again! That’s why their business card says «Your Dealership Alternative». This time they saved me a lot of $! The sliding passenger door on my Honda Odyssey van had malfunctioned– non responsive. I previously took it to a AAA certified shop that electronically reset the door– but it still didn’t work. Before I take it to the dealer and give them my «arm and leg» as payment, I decided to go to Dave & Connie for a second opinion. Glad I did! They said it wasn’t a bad door motor– they checked all the electrical connections and reset it a few more times and now it works! I saved a ton of money and got expert service. I’ll say it again: If Jesus ran an auto repair shop, this would be the one!

I love Dave and Connie! They’re so friendly and honest. I never feel like I’m over paying and if I have a question they are very quick to fit me in and let me know what’s going on with my car. Having a Lexus maintenance can be really unaffordable but not here! They know exactly what they’re doing and even gave me a great reference when I needed to get my smog check done. Very trustworthy and I won’t take my car anywhere else!

Even though they say they specialize in Toyota and Honda, they were extremely knowledgable on my Hyundai. They worked on that poor car till I ran her into the grave.
Their prices are very fair, and to be honest, I would pay top dollar for great customer service… which this place is not lacking!
A couple times in here and you end up feeling like family! I love Dave and Connie! We couldn’t dream of going any place else!

I have an older van that we’ve been bringing here for about a year. They staff is super friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable. They don’t leave out of any of the process and like to actually show you what is going wrong with your car.
I will continue take my cars here for as long as they are open. The ONLY downside is they aren’t open on the weekends, but it’s understandable so I make my schedule accordingly.

What can I say, I went in and was out in less then 20 minutes. Ron was very VERY helpful and explained everything to me. I paid an excellent price that can not be beat with the quality you’re going to get.
I wish they did more then Smog Checks because I’ll be def coming back and recommend this place to others!
