I rarely write Unilocal reviews (this will be
my 3^rd so the fact that I am writing this should speak volumes).
A few of us had ice cream cups in our hands and walked by this yogurt place and a girl was giving out samples. My daughter asked for a sample and the girl said rudely said «no, you don’t get to have any because you bought ice cream next door.»
I overheard this as did the 7 others I was with that day. We were appalled and shocked! A few of us mothers went back and asked to speak with the manager. The guy behind the counter said he was the owner. Then that same girl immediately came over and said she was also the owner. This shocked me because as a business owner one would think they had some sort of customer service values. Unfortunately, these 2 individual had none !!! Zero!!!
They went on about how by our asking for samples that we were stealing from them because we were eating ice cream from the place door. I tried to explain to these 2 that we lived in La Jolla and that we could come back later that day or another day and that we were customers. These 2 people did not get this concept at all. They were rude and disrespectful to us. I communicated that we would never set foot in their yogurt shop because of their actions and they would lose business and customers by such appalling behavior. They still did not get it.
(At least it was a learning moment for me to teach my young daughter what NOT to do and that these 2 people had NO understanding of how to really run a business and how to treat all people. It saddens that they did not at all understand what we were trying to explain to them. I don’t think they will be in business long — this place is has changed hands (ownership) a few times now and with their disrespectful way towards people I do not see how they will last very long.
Please help me to blacklist this place — they truly do not deserve any of our business.

This yogurt shop is located on one of the main walkways in downtown la jolla and reasonably priced. However not too many flavors to choose from and the guy working behind the counter on ¹¹⁄₂₇ Friday at 6pm was really weird. I was there with my husband and my husbands parents and his aunt. The guy behind the counter was wearing a hoodie and on the phone while we were inside. He looked annoyed to have customers in there. After we paid for our yogurt, we stayed inside chatting for a little bit and he came over to our group and his exact words were, «can you sit down at a table or move because you are blocking the aisle.» There was nobody else but us in the shop! You would think that us eating yogurt in the shop would be good advertisement for people walking by but his demeanor was so weird and rude that we just left the shop. A few minutes later, we see him leave the shop to go next door to the convenience store leaving his place unattended. The shop needs to get a new employee asap or he’s going to drive away the customers!

Don’t go here if you care about customer service. Also don’t go here if you want yogurt that tastes good. It’s 11:40 am on 11−1−15 and the young girl working was so rude that we left without ordering anything at all.

The gentleman working her was texting when we arrived and didn’t greet us. He seemed tired and made us feel like he was completely uninterested in his job. As we were eating out on the patio, he decide to have a cigarette right next to us. We had to ask him to move, but he didn’t. Stayed there and finished his smoke. Terrible customer service. We will not be returning.

Typical frozen yogurt place with self serve and dozens of toppings. After you weigh the cup, voilà, time to eat! Nothing special. A good treat after dinner or the beach.

Yogurt is great but what’s super interesting is the option of lychee that I find no where else and the acai popsicles. Great location so can get one after burning in the beach sun.

I would leave 0 stars if I could.
We asked for sample cups and tried out a few flavored. My wife asked for the Coconut which tastes fine from the sample. But once started pouring it, it was coming out chunky and watery. I went to throw out this sample and the staff barked at me that I can’t do that and I have to pay for it!
What a rip off! I got served garbage and now I have to pay for it, even though I didn’t consume it?! Yes, the sample was good but the rest of it wasn’t.
The staff was completely without empathy. Maybe it’s cause it’s close to the beach and they’re stuck working there for minimum wage, but either way.
Don’t have your day ruined by poor quality ‘yogurt’ and rude staff. Go somewhere else!

So bomb! Staff is extremely kind and caring. Appreciate the service i get and the smile im greeted with when I come here. It’s owned by two siblings and I just love supporting small business.

One of the best yogurt place I have ever been to. They have great pitaya and acai bowls as well as great flavors of yogurt. Their salted Carmel is especial good. Their sweet toppings are really good and they have great fresh fruit not to mention their great sauces (fudge, carmel, raspberry, and more). It cost 49 cents per ounce which is not expensive at all for a beach front property like this one. They have 10 rotating flavors that are all very good and the place is pretty clean when you consider all the people coming from the beach that have sand on their feet and are soaked.

It’s a small set up in the store and not conducive for large groups of people who would like to dine in. The toppings are similar to options offered at other yogurt shops. There’s a sign that states that they offer 40 different types of toppings… that’s not true. Probably closer to 20 – 25.
Not my go to or favorite yogurt place. But it’s not bad after a day at the beach when I’m craving something cold and sweet. It’s within walking distance from the beach and rentals around La Jolla Shores.

Just another average frozen yogurt place… came here after kayaking at the beach. This place isn’t anything special, compared to all the many other yogurt places in Southern California. It definitely does capitalize on location, location, location. Pick your flavor and toppings and eat. I didn’t like how the more toppings I added, the more expensive it got. Think Pinkberry, I like unlimited!

They were really mean to my kids and this is not what I expected from an ice cream store.

10 different rotating flavors of yogurts including non dairy and sugar free options.
Good selection of fruits, nuts and candy toppings. They sucked me in when I saw they have Georgia peach yogurt and raspberry pomegranate. The fruit toppings were fresh and they kept it well stocked.
49 cents an ounce, reasonable for a touristy spot in La Jolla beach. Only downside is originally I wanted their acai bowl but they would not allow any substitutions on the toppings even if it was the lychee for the strawberries.

It’s the only frozen yogurt shop in «The Shores». It’s convenient because we can walk there, they offer a punch card and an app for your phone, and I love the salted carmel flavor as well as the pistachio. You can taste them before you try them and they don’t get upset if you try several. My kids love it. They weigh it and then charge you.

A decent frozen yogurt place that doesn’t seem too much different than the other by-​the-​ounce places. Good flavors and a selection of toppings that includes nuts, candy, fruits and boba balls.
It can be a little dirty inside, but it’s perfect if you’ve just left the beach and are roaming in your bathing suits!

Yogurt Escape is a nice little spot right by La Jolla Shores beach. It’s right on Avenida de la Playa and you might just miss it unless you know where to look!
The inside is clean and they have a couple tables outside the store on the sidewalk. Pretty standard froyo setup. It’s somewhat small inside, and that lends itself to not having a huge assortment of flavors or toppings. But I gotta think that the beachfront lease is fairly pricey regardless of how large it might be and they’ve done well given the fact that they don’t have a sprawling layout.
They do have most of the standard flavors that you’d expect to find like plain tart, cake batter, cheesecake, etc. I checked out their website after the fact and they list a lot of available flavors on there. It does mention that a couple of them are seasonal, but I don’t remember quite that many flavors being available. Perhaps I just didn’t look closely enough? They list a total of 18 flavors on the website, but I only remember 5 machines with 2 flavors/​machine (10 total flavors, I believe). Same thing with the pictures of the toppings on their website. I remember some things being at the store that aren’t listed, and I see some things shown on the website that definitely weren’t there. Basically what I’m trying to say is, don’t go to the website and pre-​make your froyo order in your head since the website may not be perfectly accurate.
Overall, I did really like this place. The toppings are fresh, the store employees are nice and helpful, and the yogurt is tasty. It’s a little pricier than the standard frozen yogurt places (probably again due to that pricey beachfront lease), but it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re down at La Jolla Shores!

I liked this place a lot. Personally, I was drawn in by the acai bowl offer and was super impressed with how great the value was!
Lemme just go over what’s in the acai bowl and you can judge for yourself.
For around 6 $, you get:
A generous amount of acai sorbet
Granola
Kiwi fruit
½ sliced banana
Strawberries
Honey
Coconut
The only thing that would make this place perfect is if the staff was a bit more energized!
So would I come back? I think I would. That acai bowl is really great: D

One of our favorite self-​serve fro yo spots at one of our favorite beaches. Tasty yogurt and great interesting toppings and fresh fruit. Today, the strawberries, blueberries and mango were all Farmer’s Market quality. And my daughter (fro yo connoisseur) says it’s one of the only places to have maraschino cherries on the topping bar. A little pricier than our usual spots — .45/​oz, but worth the splurge

Not going to lie, only came in here cuz I love that strawbarry boba that pops in your mouth. The fact that the owner was super friendly was a plus. The only disappoint part about the place was that some of the yogurts were just too soft. Maybe it was too early in the day or something.
The chances of coming to this place is probably slim to none, but if I’m ever in La Jolla in the summer; I’d hit this place up again.

Pretty good self serve froyo place in La Jolla shores. My bf got us vanilla, coffee, and pomegranate raspberry sorbet. The vanilla and pomegranate raspberry flavors were awesome! The coffee tasted good at first, but the more I ate it the funkier the taste got.
I didn’t actually go inside so I can’t comment on the service. My bf is huge on customer service and he didn’t say anything so I’m assuming it was ok. It’s no yogurtland, but it’s a nice little neighborhood froyo place. If I were in the area looking for a cool treat, I’d come back.
