We were looking for a place to have dessert after dinner. This place was still open so we went in and checked it out. There were lots of nice options for flavors and the staff was very nice. I had my usual hazelnut which was really flavorful and creamy. I’ll be back the next time I’m in town.

Best gelato in town! I would def compare it to the gelato I’ve had in Italy so it’s a must! Always the best flavors and super friendly staff! Only tricky thing is, the parking. But it’s well worth it!

I was so glad I stopped by here for dessert after having dinner at a near by eatery. I ordered the two scoop mini container with some roasted almond and chocolate chip gelato. I was please with how much they served of both flavors. Both flavors tasted great and had a perfect creamy texture. The chocolate chips came with a very good amount of chocolate morsels and the vanilla portion of the gelato tasted great. The roasted almond gelato was good. I liked that they put a lot of slivered almonds on top of the roasted almond gelato in the display, but I wish I received more of those almonds in my scoop of gelato. Anyways, the gelato had a good almonds flavor a but of that sense the almonds were roasted. They offer a variety of great flavors and also provide cones and such. The young lady running the shop was very nice and definitely knew how to fill a mini container with delicious gelato. A great place for gelato.

We had the cookies and crème, roasted almond and double white chocolate flavors at Gelateria yesterday. The roasted almond is not too intense a flavor and I loved it for the sublety and yum factor. My husband was all over the cookies and crème. Double white chocolate chip had a distinct minty taste to it, and I felt they double dipped the spoons. Since I dislike mint flavor(I feel it makes icecream taste like toothpaste), overall gelateria was definitely not a good experience. They only allow 3 samples per person. The tiny plastic flower cups and not filled all the way to the bottom if choosing 2 flavors that are piled really high on top of the cup rim. They tip over/fall or slip out of your hands easily because, center of gravity, duh. The wait staff was courteous and pleasant and we had a nice chat. The«piccolo» or smallest size is 4 $.

Once again, amazing gelato! Nothing to say about the flavors — they are simple delicious. I tried the Coffee, Stracciatela and Chocolate and Caramel and I enjoyed them every second. However, this time I gave them 3 stars because some details I did not like: 1. There was ONLY one person doing everything, serving, getting cash, preparing coffee. With the same hands he grabs the money he grabs the waffle. 2. Inside the store was hot! I do expect to enjoy from air conditioning inside a gelateria, but no, after purchasing the ice cream I prefer to walk(???) than to stay inside the store which was dark and hot. 3. There is no option to combine 3 flavors in a waffle. How come? The guy serving did his job very well, he was kind, fast and I have nothing bad to say about him. The price for a 3 flavors cup is $ 8, fair price.

Good gelato, bad service! To the young girl working tonight, please don’t get upset if I ask for another scoop. I’m going to pay for it, if you don’t like scooping ice cream please don’t take it out on your customers, you can always get another job. I like this place is cute and clean but the bad service is not cool.

Good service but didn’t like their gelato. I ordered coconut and it lacked flavor. Very disappointed. I expected more because it’s usually busy.

I have been here many times when I was an undergrad at UCSD. Years later, it still brings me simple joy to spend a summer weekend afternoon strolling down La Jolla Cove and stopping by Gelateria Frizzante for a treat. They used to be more generous about samples back then, but now they limit samples to 3 flavors so you can’t be TOO indecisive anymore! The section closest to the front entrance contains refreshing fruit flavors and sorbets. Further down, they have the richer flavors like salted caramel, cookies n’ cream, tiramisu, etc. Don’t be fooled by their minuscule cups… the smallest size(piccolo) is probably more than enough! I actually couldn’t finish all my gelato on my most recent visit. This will always be an old favorite of mine!

This has become one of our favorite guilty pleasures in La Jolla. Our daughter has had a preference for the Gelato here over the others in town, and will not allow us to go anywhere else. The crowds very based on time of day and season, but they are always staffed appropriately and the lines always move quickly. They have two different cases. The larger one has more of the rich and creamy flavors. They also contain the dairy. They range from Chocoloate, amaretto, mint chocolate chip, peanut butter, espresso, mexican chocolate, banana, and the list goes on… The other case is all of the(I believe) non-dairy and fruity flavors. While I prefer to go all out and stick with the«less» healthy side… they are all equally as delicious. We are always content getting a small size. You can split two separate flavors, so mentally you are more full :) They also have fresh coffee and espresso, as well as other drinks. They always have more than enough seating inside on both tables and high tops. We always walk over, but parking can obviously be tricky as they are on Prospect. This is a great place to hit knowing that you are walking down to Scripps and burning the calories on the hills!

Great staff and LOTS of flavors to choose from. If you’re into gelato and in the La Jolla downtown area then it’s a great place to hit up.

Pleasant and helpful staff. Huge selection of non dairy sorbettos. Somewhat dog friendly if you use discretion. Generous portions. Great place for dessert after dinner in La Jolla village.

We stopped in for dessert after lunch nearby and really liked their great assortment of cold treats! They will allow you to try a few, so do that! Find what you like and pick one. We each got a small, but there was easily two scoops in a small container. The place was clean and the service was friendly. Food was tasty!

This place is perfect especially for warm days or nights! Right by the beach and there are so many amazing flavors. The tiramisu is to die for, and I love the mint chip and cherry! I heard the dairy-free fruit flavors are really good, I’m definitely going to try some next time. The only downside is when it gets busy, it can be a little bit of a wait(worth it tho) because there’s only one person staffed when I’ve been in the couple times that I have. Otherwise it’s really cute and definitely worth stopping by :)

This is a really cute place right by the beach in La Jolla. We were in the area and decided to stop here after we had lunch. All of the flavors looked amazing but you can only have 3 samples, so it’s hard to narrow them down! They have the fruit flavors on one side, and then the sweet, more traditional ice cream flavors on the other side. I sampled the salted caramel, blood orange, and guava and they were all super creamy and delicious. I opted to get one of the small cups with pineapple and blood orange. Super tasty, fresh, and just excellent. I can imagine this would be a great place to visit on a summer day after being in the sun or really just whenever because it’s that good. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

Cute little gelato shop in downtown La Jolla! They have plenty of flavors so pick a few and sample them before you make your final decision. So many choices, but only 3 samples? Pick wisely: P My favorite flavors here are tiramisu and guava. Tiramisu was creamy and sweet. tasted just like the actual dessert. Guava is true to its flavor and extremeley refreshing! Parking is a bit on the tough side since it is mostly all street parking in downtown La Jolla area. but if you’re ever nearby and craving something sweet… Stop by & cool down with some of their delicious gelato!

la jolla downtown location… busy flow of cars headed to the cove… parking sometimes difficult, but not impossible… search for cold and finding gelaeria frizzante… gelato and fruit sorbet… a scoop on a sugar cone $ 4 each…3 cones and $ 12 total… quite soft and melting too fast… too sweet… too messy… wasn’t as refreshing as expected… sticky feel of warm liquid ice cream…

This place is really cute. Service just like any other ice cream parlor. They have a range of flavors. It says you can get 3 samples but they weren’t really counting when we got samples. They have the wall full of pictures of Italy pretty cool. It was $ 4 for a small cup but it’s rich so you don’t need a bigger size. Flavors were good. Lemon cookie really stood out to me. But I got the mocha almond one. If I was ever in the area again I’d definitely go back or I’d recommend it to a friend.

What not to love about his place? It reminds me of what ice cream tasted like when I was a kid. Pretty much everything is good or great. I like that there are also nondairy options. I already know my favorite and don’t vary a great deal but signs are hanging in the glass that say«3 samples only» so you’ve got three chances to nail your fave. All three samples will likely be delicious anyway. Pick one and it’s an almost guaranteed winner.

Staff is friendly and the gelatos are amazing! So many to choose from that it does get overwhelming but that’s a good thing! Mango gelato — tasted so fresh and delicious! Expresso bean — yum! you can definitely taste the flavors in this one! The small is quite big and I couldn’t finish mine, and we didn’t know this but you can split two flavors in one cup, so I will definitely do this next time and share with friends!
