GREAT Duck Tacos!!! I also like to have a beginning to end experience with restaurants and when you walk in they take care of you. I order duck tacos and pizza when I’m there and its delicious. Another secret in La Jolla.

We had 2 nights in La Jolla and my kids insisted on eating there both nights. The messy sundae was amazing and so was Juan M! Definitely would come back!

If you are visiting or live in La Jolla you must try Sammy’s pizza. It’s located in the heart of La Jolla. This location is always busy. If you love wood oven pizza you will enjoy the large selections of pizzas that includes the gluten free pizza. They portions are very large. If you are not a big eater you have enough food to share. I would start off with the lobster mac and cheese that is outstanding. The min duck tacos where also good. For all the salad lovers the spicy Thai chicken salad is a must. I have to say they one of the best Cesar salads I ever tried. They have also a very friendly vegetarian menu that is a plus. The margarita pizza one of the best pizza you will ever taste. You love barque chicken you must have the BBQ chicken pizza that is my favorite. You have numerous of specialty dishes that you will love. The reason I love this place has they have a great menu. If you are a person who is not carving pizza you have plenty of other dishes to select from. The customer service here is outstanding from A to Z. No questions management runs a tight ship here. All the employees are friendly with a smile. I love the fact every couple minutes you have a person walks around refilling your drinks. The minute we where seated no more then 2 minutes are drink order was taken and they asked if we wanted to order. Whenever I am in town I love to come here. Hands down you can’t ask for better service. Thank you to management and every single employee for making this happen.

Food was great but two stars for really bad service! We were seated and nobody took our order until we asked. Once we were served the waitress never came back to give us refills or to check on us. We had to ask another waitress for refills.

I would like to confirm my one star review. The food is still good and the service still sucks. On top of that, the portions have gotten a lot smaller

I came in here with my girlfriend to get a bite to eat; best service I’ve ever gotten at a Sammy’s. Our waiter, Hunter was super nice and helpful; he recommend the balsamic grilled chicken salad, which was excellent. The tropical iced tea was also fantastic. Good ambiance, great service, awesome food. I will definitely be returning to this location very soon.

Omg all I have to say I came in with my boyfriend and I ordered the steak dish. best steak I have tried in months perfectly cooked just how I like it. Service was great the waitress was on top of our drinks and on how we where overall. One great thing that i really enjoyed in our experience was that we had the manager Cecil, come up to us and ask how our food was, our service and if we needed anything else really helpful. I will be definitely be coming back to sammys great food atmosphere and customer service if I could give 10stars I would!!! Great job sammys:)

Great atmosphere very warm and inviting. If your looking for comfort food look no further. The lobster mac and cheese had great flavor, however lacked in the seafood department. The waitress stated it was full of seafood however i saw maybe one tiny piece. I also got the crab and shrimp dip very tasty very cheesy. Only wish the seafood dishes had actual seafood in them.

This location is a sad example of what sammi’s is capable of delivering. The salad was drenched in way too much dressing and the lobster bike had no lobster. After our food was delivered I waited 35 minutes before the waitress returned to the table. Horrible. Horrible dry burnt chicken. Go to another sammi’s location and skip this one. I’ve been to others in mission valley and la Jolla and they are much better

My family and I were visiting La Jolla to see a play and chose to go to Sammy’s for dinner. I had read some mixed reviews but the food sounded good so we decided to give it a try. We were seated immediately, our waitress was attentive and helpful when we told her we were in a time crunch, and the food was delicious! Had an awesome experience and highly recommend it!

I’ve always liked Sammy’s. Been here a number of different times over the years. Good pizzas and appetizers, and locally brewed beers(Lightning Thunderweizen is great)

Sammy’s never disappoints. This is my favourite location and we have been coming here for about 15 years. The balsamic grilled chicken salad has been a staple here and is large enough to share. They have delicious tapas, pizzas, and pasta. The simple angel hair with tomatoes is just exquisite and the arugula pear pizza laced with prosciutto is thrilling — the flavors compliment each other perfectly. If you sign up for their birthday club, you got a free messy Sunday on your birthday… Trust me, it’s delicious. Place is not cheap, but won’t break the bank — a consistent good meal.

Mr Ladeki, Why are you allowing the quality of the food to go down? My wife and I came in last night as we do about once per week. My veggie pizza tasted like a frozen pizza! Cardboard-like. The toppings were dry and had no flavor. This is unacceptable. Please address this immediately. My wife’s shrimp salad was fine. The dressing was good as always. We have friends who are also«regulars». They have had similar experiences!

Came for the gluten-free pizza and beer, check and check, thanks Sammy’s. Food was good and served pretty quick but the atmosphere was odd for a pizza place. Looked more like they were striving for an upscale restaurant. Tables were crammed so close together we, as three small people couldn’t get up without bumping into something. Also, the sun was glaring in my husband’s and son’s eyes throughout dinner but there was no place to move to because half the restaurant was blocked off for a private party. Perhaps on an average night with no parties, this would have not been the case. Food alone would get 4 stars, but because we were physically uncomfortable the whole time, I give 3.

There is just something about this sammy’s. Maybe it’s because it’s the original. The food is sammys. Apps, salads, pasta and, of course, pizza. The pizza is wood fired so has that crunchy outside and soft inside. So yum! No heavy Chicago style here. Definitely cali– some pizzas just about have a salad on them! And don’t forget dessert. Yes. Try(and share) the messy sundae. Chocolate and carmel sauce drenching vanilla ice cream. Yep, whip cream and cherry on top. Wine list is ok. Beer is served cold. Is this a 5 — star restaurant? Nope. Is it a fun place for a family dinner with good food. Yep. Ah, my pizza has just arrived, so if you’ll excuse me…

Three guys, one gluten free, one vegetarian, and one normal omnivore showed up at Sammy’s for a quick dinner. We were greeted and seated very quickly on the patio, got our drinks soon thereafter. The menu has a great selection of salads, pizzas, entrees, pastas, etc. Gluten free and vegetarian items are plentiful and clearly marked on the menu. They were also very accommodating of modifications to the menu items(try the goat cheese pizza with spicy sausage). Our appetizers were fantastic, the salad delicious but came out very late(well after the pizzas), but the lame part was lukewarm slightly undercooked pizza. Our pizzas clearly died in the window but got served anyway. I was too hungry to ask for that to be fixed(and didn’t want spit in my refired pizza). Solid 4 star place which lost a star for lukewarm pizza.

New York pizza is amazing. I think it was one of the finest pizzas I’ve ever tasted! The wood fired taste was wonderful. Now for the service, Debra was such a great server! Kept us served all evening and topped it off with this amazing ice cream sundae. Kudos to Debra, she was great!!!

From the outside, it looks like a promising place to get wood-fired pizza — you know what I mean, blistered, thin, stretchy crusts that have been cooked quickly in a very hot oven. But from the inside, you’ll quickly realize it’s closer to a California Pizza Kitchen clone — overly thick pizza with untempting textures and too many ingredients of the wrong kind. Edible if you’re hungry and want pizza, but not worth a trip. At least that’s the pizza — the salads and grilled salmon looked perfectly serviceable, but I wouldn’t come here for the pizza described in the name.

It’s Admin Appreciation Day !!! Work luncheon on the boss ! :D Ambiance: –Located on the second floor of a small shopping center –La Jolla location is fairly small compared to other SWP’s –indoor/outdoor seating –Lunchtime gets pretty crowded and I noticed the clientele were mostly elderly folks. A couple of old guys were chit chatting next to us and our group chuckled when one of them quoted, «What goes around, goes around.» LOLOL ! Comes with age I guess. O. O Service: –We didn’t make reservations, but the wait wasn’t that long to get seated. We did have to wait awhile for our food though, but it was pretty packed and once the food arrived it was hot and fresh ! –Waiter was friendly, but almost non-existent. Food: –Love how they label the menu items as vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free. –Baba Ghanoush — Roasted eggplant dip, evoo, grilled herb flatbread(served with lettuce cups) — Great appetizer ! I LOVEEGGPLANT and I loved saying ‘BABAGHANOUSH’ repeatedly. –Red Quinoa salad — Golden beets, tomatoes, avocado, red onion, wild arugula, parsley, almonds, mint, scallions in citrus chili vinaigrette — This was huge ! I actually live off of all kinds of salads, but it felt like I barely made a dent on this. Haha. I actually had leftovers. That’s rare ! It was delish and quite filling. Quinoa is a staple of mine so I like to see the variations that are made with it. FYI: They can veganize your pizza as well ! Score !! I’ll have to come back for that ! Overall, FOURSTARS ! I’d be happily glad to share a slice ! :D
