History

Established in 1990.

Dr. D’Angelo, graduating with high honors, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Stony Brook University in New York in 1982. He was awarded membership in the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. Dr. D’Angelo received his dental degree from the University of North Carolina in 1986. The dental school at North Carolina has consistently been ranked as one of the top dental schools in the country.

After relocating to La Jolla, Dr. D’Angelo established his practice in 1990. The practice grew rapidly, becoming both successful and well respected in the community. Dr. D’Angelo’s unrelenting commitment to his patients, compassion for his fellow man, and a never ending endeavor toward excellence and integrity, have contributed to his success.

Dr. D’Angelo is a member of several professional organizations and is involved with many study clubs. He frequently attends continuing education courses focusing primarily on cosmetic and implant dentistry.

This was my first annual dental exam and cleaning appointment. I took the appointment over phone and Kathy was super helpful to accommodate me within 1 week. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The Doctor and the Hygienist both were really nice — which made the entire duration quite comfortable. I am going back there for the next appointment soon.

Dr. Joe saved me from a previous dentist who let my dental health fade for many years. When I first came in to see Dr. Joe, he and his staff were shocked at the state of my teeth and they got to work right away to fix them. They came up with a plan over the course of 2 – 3 years and fixed everything in thoughtful steps — they made sure to work with my insurance timing as well to save me some money. Their office staff is friendly and they know you by name. The office is very comfortable and you get to watch TV while you’re in the chair, so you barely notice the work that is being done. I highly recommend Dr. Joe and Dr. Olson — I actually enjoy going to see the dentist because of them!

It seems weird to give a dentist 5 stars after having oral surgery and I have stitches in my mouth. Let me tell you, I’ve been going to Dr. D’Angelo for over 20 years. For awhile, my dental insurance changed and I couldn’t use him, and I found all other dentists to be such a disappointment compared to the care he gives and work Dr. D does. I now pay extra just to see him because I no longer trust HMO provider dentists.
Dr. D passionate about his work and his practice and he employs a very talented, professional and personable staff. He stays up to date on all new practices and his office has all the latest techonology to make the experience exceptional. The entire experience is as good as it can get when going to the dentist. I love my hygenist, Karen, too, but everyone there is good. I once had to be seen when Dr. D was at a conference and Dr. Olson saw me. She was very good and it was nice to have another dentist I can trust completely in the office. I do not hesitate giving this entire office a 5 star rating. Thanks to everyone in the office for making my dental experiences all good ones. Even what should have been considered a tough surgery was a piece of cake, and without pain. My only complaint? Dentistry in LaJolla is not cheap or discounted so it can be a tough pill to swallow when paying out of pocket for dentistry. At least I know I am paying for good work.

Great office! Clean, modern and inviting. Dr. Olson and Dr. D’Angelo are terrific. They make me feel comfortable and take extra time to explain everything to me. Free parking on site and being next to starbucks is a plus! The staff is also wonderful. Everyone is friendly and happy! Highly recommend this office for all dental work.

This «Dynamic Duo» love what they do! Hence, they do it extremely well! Dr. D’Angelo and Dr. Olson will not let you down. No matter what your mouth is facing, they make it a comfortable and comforting experience. They take pride in presenting patients with multiple options based on preferred outcomes. I have been a patient of Dr. D’Angelo and Dr. Olson for quite a while now. First off, I have to say I love the feeling when you walk into their office I feel like I have walked into a good friends home. The staff is by far the friendliest I’ve experienced in any Dr office. The Dr’s and staff really know how to make you feel at ease especially when you are sitting in that dental chair. The hygienists are amazing! I have even converted my nervous mom who used to hate going to the dentists, to being such a good patient, thanks to Dr D & Karen. Both Dr’s do incredible work. They have a true passion for dentistry and it shows in their work.

D’Angelo’ was my local dentist, that was until he found out I was gay. Then he refused to treat me. Is his right.
After posting my experience in Unilocal. He called me attempted to explain his point of view. He assumed sense I was gay I was a Democrat … and Democrats all want something for free. That’s why…
When i moved i changed dentists. Used a local dentists, whos work failled. I had no idea where to go. So, I called D’Angelo for help. I was between jobs and needed to make payments for the work. I outted myself during a general conversation. Just before outing myself he was on board to help me.
Once outed he refused. Stating gay people expect others to pay their bill’s. In the eight years I saw him for vaniers etc… never once did I miss a payment most of the time paid with CC the day of service.
He’s an ok dentist has a high regard gor homself and has every right to refuse care for whatever reason.
Don’t let out yourself as Democrat or Gay he’ll treat you.

Dr. D’Angelo and Dr. Olson are awesome! I am very particular about my teeth and constantly in pursuit of the perfect smile. Their office is state-​of-​the-​art, they employ super friendly staff and I always leave there laughing. Seriously, I crack up every time I am there. Currently, I am in Invisalign and Dr. D’Angelo and staff have been really great helping me along in the process (they are running my program).

I have been going to Dr. D’Angelo’s office for 12 years and I drive down from Carlsbad to La Jolla; it’s worth it! I feel welcomed every time and know that I am in good hands with the staff from beginning to end. Dr. D’Angelo and Dr. Olson are excellent dentists. The office is impeccable, the staff warm and friendly and the quality of care is five star.
I feel confident that I am getting the best of the best. I walk out of the office (always on time by the way– I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen as long as I show up on time!) relaxed and completely satisfied.
I’ve never felt pushed or encouraged to have an unnecessary treatment, like you do at some other practices.
You truly get what you pay for when it comes to dentists. This office is on the cutting edge of customer service and quality.
