Einstein Bros Bagels

Review for Einstein catering and their brick and mortar storefront experience.
Sit down — Einstein is Located in the dreaded Regents Center parking lot. Open tables had a lot of crumbs on top which hopefully weren’t sitting around since breakfast. No quality checking on the iced teas either. Way too bitter (over steeped or maybe just too much mix/​water ratio). They do have an iced coffee dispenser which is something I haven’t seen before. I think there are better options in this area post breakfast.
Catering — Pretty good with the diversity and quality. Sometimes we get special ones with cheesy toppings but mostly they’re just boring flavors. Spreads are quite nice. People like this brand at work so it keeps getting ordered.

I ordered a bacon and egg nacho cheddar bagel with spinach inside the egg. This location is known for making poor quality bagels (unless you’re a college student)(or you don’t have other bagel eating experience). Other Einstein brothers locations are better. I was always optimistic that something would improve, hopeful they can produce a bagel that is not doughy and room temperature. I avoid eating here as a result usually six months to a year ago but there are occasions like today when I’m in the area and I need to grab something very fast. My mistake, I won’t be doing that again. I started to eat it but it was so bad I couldn’t finish it, that sadly I had to ask for a refund. Sometimes it’s just better to go hungry than to eat something poorly made. Just a tip: The Mission Valley location does the best job and is worth the drive. It’s located off of the 15 near Aero Drive in the McDonalds shopping center.

This was the only other place that served breakfast near my hotel other than Starbucks. It’s pretty good because we can just walk in and either eat here or the hotel. I also like that they have turkey sausage rather than just pork! I got the turkey sausage, egg, and cheese bagel every time and it didn’t disappoint!

The bagels here are good but definitely not the greatest. I had a blueberry bagel with the blueberry smear. I was really satisfied with the blueberry smear but then again It’s hard to go wrong with cream cheese because let’s face it, anything with cream cheese is just awesome. The bagel itself however definitely wasn’t crispy enough. I feel like they could’ve toasted it a little more. My boyfriend got the breakfast bagel sandwich and same comments apply to that. Overall, just nice place to get some decent bagels, definitely not much wow and amazing factor to it.

Fairly disappointed in my visit. There were only two people working, so they were extremely busy and they did try their hardest to stay on top of the orders but it still took about 30 min to get my food. I ordered a ham and cheese egg sandwich on a bagel. The bagel wasn’t toasted and the cheese wasn’t melted. It tasted ok but not as good as it usually does. The place was really dirty, trash over flowing from all places, tables not cleaned and the coffee bar… was a gross mess. Not sure if it’s always like this at this location but I wouldn’t recommend try it to find out.

Service always varies for me. Either I’ll have an amazing person who takes my order and has good recommendations/​suggestions. Other times I’ll have someone who mumbles, talks real quiet, and gets my order all mixed up.
Overall, their bagels are run of the mill, nothing too spectacular (I prefer small family owned bagel places but I come here when I’m in a hurry since it’s closer). I usually get the lox bagel but it comes with way too much capers. Thankfully it’s easy to flick off. If I’m not too hungry or not willing to pay the price of a lox, I’ll get a blueberry bagel with strawberry shmear — can’t really mess that one up, pretty simple. Lately, I’ve been getting the chicken pesto hot sandwich on a jalepeno/​cheese bagel and it’s delicious! Definitely recommended. It comes with a side of pickle or a bag of chips (last time they just assumed a pickle for me… So make sure to clearly state which one you want)
Their ice coffee was diluted by the time I got there in the afternoon. Wasn’t strong or flavorful at all.

The absolute worst location I’ve ever been to and i frequent this one the most. Not only they have been unable to make my Lox bagel without onions, despite me asking them multiple times every single time I visit the place, they suck at taking orders in general. It shouldn’t take you 5 minutes to write down an order for 2 bagels.
I hate this location.

Bagels are fine. However, the service is SLOW! Good lord! It’s a busy morning. I’ll take an egg sandwich with a side of MOVE IT and an order of HURRY UP! No sense of urgency. People standing around talking

Friends don’t let friends take these fake bagels to meetings and get-​togethers! These are bread, not bagels. How do I know? They are not boiled. They are too big. They are too fluffy. (Byproduct of not boiling.). Go to Busy Bee instead!

Good selection of bagels and lots of cream cheese (shmear) to choose from. Ordered the poppy seed bagel with garden veggie spread. Normally they cake enough cream cheese on the bagels to fill up a swimming pool, think must have been missing a contact in one eye cuz they missed a spot.

Let’s be honest, it’s an Einstein’s, you know what you’re going to get. This location though, is pretty decent. They’ve usually got a good selection of bagels still stocked by mid morning, although the line can get pretty hairy when all those college kids come in cravin’ carbs. Finals, ya dig? It’s what makes the brain work. I’ve picked up coffee here a few times when the starbucks wait was ridiculous. Again, parking isn’t the best, but they also validate. So go one kids, get yo’ bagel on.

I needed my honey wheat bagel with honey almond schmear fix and the staff took their sweet time in acknowledging us.
He’s lucky I wasn’t HANGRY or there will be blood.

This Einstein Bros Bagels is located in La Jolla near UTC/​UCSD/​Scripps area. I love coming by in the morning to get my breakfast fix. My typical order is usually the same. I should try something different! The service here is good as the workers are all friendly. They do get a big rush in the mornings so be prepared for a little wait. If you come in early in the morning parking is free, but if you come in later just bring in your ticket to get it validated at the register.
PROS: great selection of bagels, yummy everything bagel with sun dried tomato shmear, excellent spicy devil, free parking, central location
CONS: busy at times when a long line forms. proof of how good their bagels are :)

To be expected. So close to the college, hospital and offices.
They’ve got it down though. The line moves fast even though it’s out the door. I just wish there were more tables inside to enjoy your bagel.
This particular day they were out of my favorite bagel. Cinnamon Sugar manager said although they were out, but they could make me one with the «regular» bagel. It wasn’t the same, but I appreciated it.

Even if you get validated you will still pay for parking. Not much $ 1.00. So make sure you bring $. Not sure if they take cards.

My Green Chile Club on a Nacho Jalapeño bagel was tasty. I subbed cream cheese and cheddar cheese for the mayo and pepper jack. The Nacho & Jalapeño bagel is soft inside like a roll, and lacks the chewiness of a traditional bagel, but it works well as a sandwich bun. I’d order this again, except that the service needs improvement here.
The staff seems like nice people, but they ignored me when I stood at the counter for so long that I almost left. The 2 girls even had a brief chat between the 2 of them before they even acknowledged me. Finally one of them said, «are you ready to order?» Umm yes I’ve been ready for a while!)-;
As I ate my yummy bagel, I watched them with other customers. They don’t greet incoming customers, and customers are often left standing around, looking uncertain, until it’s convenient for the staff to take their order. After making you wait, they just say «are you ready to order?» No greeting, no apology for the wait.
The trash bin was full and overflowing, while the employees were chattering. The tables and floor needed cleaning. I get the feeling here that I’m interrupting their fun. I notice that none of the customers look happy.
I’ve been to this location before, and it has never impressed me. I wish there was a better choice for bagels in the area.

Who says bagels are just good for breakfast? They have an awesome assortment of bagels to choose from and an equally impressive number of schmears to match. The cinnamon raisin bagel toasted with blueberry schmear is my favorite! I love how generous they are with the schmear. It’s best hot, but that isn’t a problem since you’ll probably devour your bagel in short time. My girlfriend also loves their frozen strawberry lemonade.
Great any time of the day, it’s too bad they close at 5pm.

Wow… I have never been spurred to write such a bad review. This place has absolutely THE worst service I have ever seen.
Although the food appears good and there are employees that are friendly, my order is ALWAYS incorrect or flawed. I order a bagel and then the bagel is not toasted. I order a bagel and then the bacon is cold as if it came out of the freezer.
This place could actually be recommended if they hired better managers.

Wanted to pick up some bagels for work and decided stop by. This location is 1 mile from work but I never come because of the parking. They will validate your parking ticket at the register, but the lot is so small and the spaces are so narrow you often have to wait to get in and block the street. The Starbucks right next door is not helping out this whole situation.
The service is spotty and it’s so loud in there I always have to yell to get my order in. The bagels are good, but I always regret coming back.

This location was out of a lot of items again today and my Nova Lox Sandwich was pretty bare… again. Other Einstein Bagels locations in San Diego usually pack on everything and I don’t have to ask — Big slices of tomato, more than one onion slice, more capers (counted five little ones), and definitely more salmon. Also, the ice in the soda machine hadn’t been refilled for awhile. Although the cashier knew it was empty, he neglected to inform five customers, before they attempted to fill their cups.
Although I’ve grown more and more disappointment in this place, I will continue to come just for my favorite sandwich. Maybe I’ll just speak up next time about my poor, almost-​naked sandwich.

I am usually please with the service and goods I receive at Einstein’s, and this visit went okay with a few minor glitches. I stopped in early and ordered their panini breakfast sandwich with apple wood bacon, spinach, egg, and cheese and a house drip coffee: the neighborhood blend (
).
The panini’s bread was well prepared and had a great crust and flavor (
). It was a great choice for this breakfast sandwich. The eggs inside were no doubt prepared in the microwave and they were fluffy, (
) but very under seasoned; bland would be a better way of putting it. So, with a package of salt and pepper, I quickly remedied that. The bacon was good, but should of been crispy and chewier than it was, and the spinach was fresh and tasted good (
). Overall, it was a good breakfast panini.
The drip coffee was a medium Roast, but provided a good bold flavor and went down smoothly. Service was good, but as it got busy, some of the employees got flustered, but they pulled through.
A little salt goes a long way when it comes to flavor.
