I am a San Diego based Director of Photography and studio photographer specializing in commercial photography and video production, for businesses and corporations including studio product photography for advertising, editorial work, general business photography for e-​commerce, events websites, catalogs, brochures, menus, executive portraits and business head shots and more.

History

Established in 2005.

David Max Steinberg is a cinematographer, commercial photographer and former professor at San Diego State University Department of Theater, Film and Television where he taught cinematography and lighting courses. He designed and taught the production curriculum for the University of California, San Diego’s Digital Arts Center (DAC VSMG) located in La Jolla, CA.

Preferring to work behind the camera, David left the Morris agency and moved to Los Angeles where he photographed features for Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus of Cannon Films. He joined I.A.T.S.E 600 as a Director of Photography working on a project with Abe Vigoda, Sherman Helmsley and Champion Joe Frazier (directed by Nick Staglioni) for Nickelodeon. Music video credits involve projects for Prince, Roxy Music, Lee Ritenour, Diamond Rio, and Mile Davis, Donald Fagan and more…

David works as a cinematographer, a photographer and an adjunct professor at San Diego State University Department of Theater, Film and Television and the University of California, San Diego’s Digital Arts Center (DAC VSMG). He moonlights as a jazz pianist and spends an inordinate amount of time with his strong willed dog, «Babu».

Professional: David has an M.F.A. from NYU’s Graduate Institute of Film & Television. He is a former I.A.T.S.E. Local 600 Director of Photography. His feature film directorial debut («Severance» (1988) premiered at New York Independent Feature Project and was invited to the Florence Film Festival.
