Raw pancakes were served to me after waiting almost 30 minutes. There was only one other customer in the place so I don’t understand what the problem was. The cashier told me that the cook burned the first pancakes and then she proceeded to serve me raw batter. Consuming batter with raw eggs in it is not my idea of food safety. Needless to say I left without any breakfast.

Terrible experience trying to return a pecan pie that we bought for Thanksgiving. Not only did the staff yell at us for wanting to return it, the cook from the kitchen came out & started yelling something in Spanish. We have been longtime customers here mainly for the breakfast muffins but will not be returning. They need to take some classes regarding customer service & satisfaction. Mike

Very convenient and quiet location with a great choice of breakfast items. We come often on weekends and we enjoy their omelettes and eggs&bacon. The waffles and French toasts are really good. Their fruit is always super tasty and fresh. Very friendly service in a great quiet spot in La Jolla.

Fast, friendly staff, good product, and great prices. While I was eating lunch, a woman picking up soup and salad came in to grab her lunch. However it appeared that she called the wrong location(they have 2 on the same road– sure this happens a lot). The staff immediately put her at ease and logged the order at this location — made and sent it out quickly. That really wins in my book!

Terrible! We’ll never go back! They brought my husband the wrong food. When they eventually brought his breakfast burrito it was just meh. I tried the blueberry muffin and ours was dry and tasteless. I also ordered the green salad and it was fine. All in all, we’ll never be back.

Super happy to find this cute little breakfast place. Either I had a bad night, or they have god working the espresso machine(I am sure it was somewhere in-between), because I swear it was like manna from heaven. European omelette was fantastic, breakfast burrito was great. Sitting on the patio in the sun, couldn’t be better!

I LOVE this place! They have the BEST food! I eat here at least once a week(I work very close by) The Arugula salad is so delish! I love the chicken Caesar wrap. The bolognesa pasta is mouthwatering. The corn meal pancakes are like nothing I’ve ever had before, my favorite! They also have different daily specials that are always yummy. All of their food is very fresh & they have a lot of healthy choices. The almond cake & coconut cake is to die for! I’m bummed they aren’t open for dinner anymore, I’ve been coming here for 10 years plus & I will continue. Ruby & Claudia are amazing & their mom has the best baked goods recipes. You will not be disappointed here!

I really wanted to love this place especially since I drive by it every week. However I came here twice. The first time, I stood at the counter for a while with no acknowledgement from the employees. You would think I would learn but I came a second time just to order a coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. It took 10 minutes for me to receive my coffee and another 10 minutes on top of that for my bagel to arrive. All for $ 4.75. I couldn’t help but think to myself that I could have just walked across the street for a significantly better cup of coffee and a bagel at Starbucks for a lesser price. I don’t plan on coming back here again. Not worth the money.

This is the cutest café! I’m so glad my cousin found this place to eat. It’s not that big. There’s only a few tables inside, and there’s also seating outside. The younger lady handling the front counter was just so friendly and made the experience a lot better. We seat and wait for the food to be brought to us. I can’t remember what my morning breakfast was, but I do recall it included a side of potatoes that they make. So, SO good. I’ll have to put up the picture to remember what my meal was. My cousin said the coffee was fantastic. It was just a nice little place to come. Prices were normal. Parking is simple, it’s in a parking lot and not from being around that area it was simple to find. I recommend this place completely!

The come on in salad is the best. Always fresh, crisp apples, candy pecans and yummy dressing. Then top it off with a home made dessert. Staff is always friendly. European feel with a quaint personal touch.

I came here for lunch in between clients. My client told me to go to this shopping center. Walk around and look at the menus at the different food places, and there’s a parking lot, which can be a deciding factor in la jolla. I found myself at Come On In café. I was craving a salad. And a Cobb salad it is! I walked inside to order and I over heard one of the workers complaining about another worker and called her a name under her breathe. It wasn’t soft enough because the couple in front of me and myself kind of look at each other. I was ready to order and all of a sudden all the workers walked away to bus tables and go to the back. Huh? So I ordered my Cobb salad and it was $ 10.50. $ 10.50 for a Cobb salad better be amazing since this isn’t a full on sit down restaurant. Salad came prompt! Woohoo! It looked amazing! The only problem is that the chicken was very over cooked and some parts of the lettuce were bad. It’s one of my pet peeves. Why can’t I get fresh lettuce on my $ 10.50 salad. It was irritating having to pick around my salad to see what was good and what was bad. Why didn’t I return it? I had to leave for an appointment! You cant keep people waiting on a Two Hands Mobile Massage appointment! Off to work I go as I stare at chipotle across the street. I knew I should’ve gone there! And paid less for a great salad! Only thing I like about the café is the bread:) yum! **i just had a worker take my plate away and I told her about the salad that it was bad and it can make you sick and all she said was ok. Definitely not coming back here!

Had a subpar experience at Come On In for breakfast on a Wednesday. When I ordered, the only other table in the restaurant already had their food. So, you would think my order(a breakfast burrito, add bacon) wouldn’t take that long. It took nearly 15 minutes. So, already I was a little perturbed when the food arrived. When the burrito was brought to me, I was warned the plate was hot. Places say this a lot and sometimes it means something, other times not so much. Well, the plate wasn’t hot, it was nuclear. It was ridiculous how hot the plate, and thus, the food, was. It’s clear they made the burrito, sprinkled some cheese on top, then put it under the salamander to melt. Only, it was left too long(maybe this is why it took so long to get my food). So, the cheese didn’t melt, it went past melting and turned into a crispy coating for the burrito. Normally, I like crispy cheese, say on pizza crust, on a burger, or in the form of a parmesan crisp out of the oven. But, this layer of hard cheese made the burrito hard to cut. When I was able to cut into the burrito, the insides were molten. I assume this was also due to being left under the salamander too long. The burrito has typical ingredients: cheese, eggs, onion, tomato, and black beans. The problem with this burrito was the black beans took over everything. There was way too many, and they only had generic black bean flavor, no seasoning. So, the whole thing basically tasted like black beans and that’s it. I give 2 stars instead of 1(I really didn’t like the burrito if you can’t tell) because the facility is nice. It’s a comfortable café with seating indoor and out. The employees I dealt with were friendly enough. So, I’m not saying I wouldn’t return, but I would definitely order something else.

New favorite!!! Love, love, love this quaint lil café! Centered perfectly in La Jolla proper, the quality, craftsmanship and appreciation for the caliber of food is fantastic! The owners and staff are so gracious, and your $ 12 lunch is far over par! My favorite is the arugula salad, but I always add avocado ;) yumm yummm

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to the airport… It was delicious! I had the banana pecan pancakes. The portion was very large and they were very yummy. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and the atmosphere is really nice. My only regret is that we won’t be able to come back and try the rest of the menu!(We aren’t from CA)

I highly recommend Come On In Café for catering! I called Come On In Café to cater a memorial service for my father-in-law. I spoke mostly with Claudia(by phone), and only gave her 24 hours notice that I needed hors d’oeuvres and drinks for 50 people. She knew I was very nervous about the last minute plan. Claudia helped me by listening to my concerns, and making great suggestions. She assured me that she personally would make sure to follow through even though it was her day off. What amazing customer service! The day of the service, manager Albert showed up even earlier than I did, because he knew I was worried about everything going smoothly. What a professional! He did a great job of staging the appetizers, drinks, and dessert. He provided nice baskets and plates to display. Our guests were impressed with the display, and complimented the food. Albert made sure we didn’t have to worry about anything. He brought everything in, set up, and took everything home. He wasn’t there to pack everything up right away, but that was okay because we knew he would drop by later. I give it 5 stars, because for the price, it’s as good as it gets! It is not gourmet, and that is why i chose this place. The food is simple, and very tasty. We had quesadillas, veggie crudités, cheese plates with bruschetta(crackers might have been better), and bakery goods. They also provided bottled water, soda, and ice tea. Thank you for going above and beyond for us Come On In Café. Your customer service is outstanding!

I really like this place. It’s that we’ll hidden jewel in your neck of the woods. Specially when you don’t feel like waiting to be sat down at the cool place in town. Food is great. The girls who work there are super nice. Highly recommend this place.

The chunky apple walnut muffin at Come On In is full of apples, and is our favorite muffin in La Jolla for sharing. I’ve been«coming on in» for years to this location at the corner of Herschel and Torrey Pines Rd. in La Jolla. I highly recommend their breakfast menu, and anything sweet and delightful that is tempting you. Never had a bad dessert at Come On In. My favorite 2 breakfasts at come On in are the Mediterranean, or the corn pancakes. The corn pancakes have a delightful texture, and are lovely with butter and syrup and strawberries. The Mediterranean is steamed eggs with feta and basil, and comes with fruit and a choice of toast for around $ 7. I like the healthy wheat bread. If I’m near Come On In and hungry and in a hurry, I always stop in to see if they have any ready-to-go sandwiches left. They usually keep a few on the counter, and they are a tasty snack on the go… they are yummy with a french baguette type of bread, and a light simple filling such as fresh mozzarella or proscuitto and butter… light and good with cappuccino on the go. The only thing that keeps us from going to Come On In more often is that before lunchtime, the place next door starts up their smoking barbecue, and it smokes up the area. It has nothing to do with Come On In, as the owners are different, but unfortunately Come On In gets smoked up as well. Note that I’m very sensitive to smoke. If you come early for breakfast, you will be ok, since the smoke doesn’t start up til sometime before lunch.

Sometimes I just want to get breakfast at a ‘quaint La Jolla café on a nice Saturday morning’, and not necessarily ‘somewhere amazing’. This place is one of those. It’s such a nice place to go for breakfast or early lunch(reading other reviews and seems like the food takes a while after noon) on a sunny day. There’s never a wait, and the outside seating area is somewhere you can have casual conversations and just bask in the sun while slowly enjoying your food. They have everything from the usual breakfast foods(waffles/french toast/eggs/omelettes) to salad, pasta, sandwiches, burritos, etc. The Belgian Waffles were good and I tried a Potato Scramble lunch special today that was quite tasty.

I love this place. Quaint, cute décor. Order the chicken chilaquiles. They aren’t always on the menu, but they will always make them for you, and they are absolutely delicious. They give you Tapatio and sour cream, and they are sprinkled with cheese. You can taste the tomatillos and tangy green tomatoes in the sauce. Mmmm mmm good. They will also make a Mexican mocha for you, and they are delicious! The cakes and desserts are great too. Friendly staff and out of the way of the usual downtown La Jolla hustle and bustle.
