The Company Store

I ordered from these guys for the first time and it was such a mistake. I bought regular bath towels and hand towels (so I thought). The regular towels came and they were chewed up defective looking. The hand towels ended up being face towels. So I order hand towels. They came 6 (1,2,3,4,5,6) months later. Which as you can imagine I completely forgot about them and when your ordering a grey set of towels 6 months later nothing in my set matches.
The kicker is since they sent my towels so late the authorization on my credit card expired. So these idiots sent me a letter and an email asking me to call and pay them for the hand towels (which I plan to pay), but it leaves me wondering how can anyone run a business like this? Who ever you are you should fire yourself, this has been a terrible experience on so many levels. Get it together!

Wow! What a shock… when I ordered a duvet cover and matching pillows. Not only was the duvet cover scratchy but NO FREE RETURNS!

Completely agree with all of the one star reviews. I have had to ship two items back, the first one of which was never credited back to me, but ended up being sold to someone else before they even unpacked the box and saw my refund request. Mind you none of this can be done online. So when I followed up saying where is my gift credit, I finally got them to send me something in exchange — some incredibly uncomfortable sheets — which I also had to return, only to be sent softer sheets in a queen size that were way too large for my queen size bed. I don’t want to go back to the post office to deal with the company store anymore so I’m giving away the sheets and writing off this stupid company

This review is based on firsthand experience with this company (an online sales company) at this location (online).
I’ve been a customer for 20+ years. Since the 80s, they’ve slipped to the point of being irrelevant. They used to stand for and support domestic, high-​quality production. This is no longer the case as many things are now made overseas and is of poor quality. Specifically, my $ 70 400tc sheet went threadbare in a bit over a year.
Their policies/​services are outdated: It took 4 days to simply box up an order and get it to the UPS guy… *plus* it cost $ 13 (20% of the overall order cost) to ship a lightweight item which most other vendors would ship for free and have to my door in 3 days (not take that long to put it in a box and tape it up).
Their products don’t «stand» for anything: For all of this archaic service and outrageous pricing, you’d expect sheets woven by elves… instead the bulk of their items are made in China, Turkey, etc… just like everyone else. The exception being some of their down/​feather products, but that’s seems to be a small percentage overall.
Their online assortment is nearly impossible to navigate: Sometimes too many choices (and too many sub-​brand names) is not a good thing.
Instead of heading for TCS to replace my threadbare $ 70 400tc sheet, I headed to Target where I got an entire sheet SET for ½ that price and wasn’t strapped with an outrageous shipping fee (and shipping delay)… and they’re the same made-​in-​China quality… they may only last a year or two as well, but at least I’ll save money and headache.
Save yourself the headache, skip TCS…

I wouldn’t waste my time writing this except that I was just lied to by one of their Customer Service Reps. Spent almost two hours on hold over the weekend trying to talk to one of their people about a refund issue. I had returned a blanket because is shrunk excessively and was way too small. They said they would issue a credit for the blanket and the postage to return the blanket. My Paypal account was credited for the blanket, but I never received the $ 25.77 credit for postage, despite the fact that I sent them an e-​mail with a copy of the mailing receipt. When I contacted them to ask about the postage I was told that they never received my e-​mail, and that I should try again. Send another e-​mail and was told that the attachment (copy of the mailing receipt) wasn’t received so they couldn’t process a refund. Send TWO more emails, one with the photo of the receipt embedded in the text, another as a JPEG file. After waiting nearly two months, still no postage refund.
Back to this weekend… tried for two days to get through, no luck. Tried again today and was only on hold about 10 minutes. Explained my sad story and was told that a refund had been issued to my Paypal account for the postage. I told her that I had not seen that, but she insisted. I hung up, checked my Paypal account and discovered that NO, there was no credit issued. Called back and this time was helped by another woman. After 20 minutes she got back on the line and told me that a check had been issued to me for the refund, and that it appears it had not been cashed. Well DUH… I never received it!!! Oh… and by the way… what about the credit to my Paypal account? She saw no record of that. So what is the real story? I know that there was no credit to my account… should I believe the check story? I was told it would take a couple of days to verify that the check had not been cashed — athough they seem to have already verified that — and another check would be issued. Now it seems for some reason, they are unable to credit the refund to my Paypal account.
We’ll see what happens. This has been two months already, with several e-​mails, several phone calls, lots of excuses and two versions of what happened to the refund. Working with this company is not worth the hassle, plus, their merchandise leaves a lot to be desired. I returned the blanket because it shrunk a ridiculous amount — 12 inches in one direction alone. The replacement they sent me also shrunk following a cold water wash and cool dry cycle. Interestingly, when I wrote a review of the blanket and posted it on their website warning of this excessive shrinkage, they chose not to post my review. It has never appeared. I wrote a second review a few days ago, describing the shrinkage as well as their bad customer service. That one has also not appeared.
Years ago this was a great company. Now… I think not. They have, however, earned their 1 star.

This company has changed ALOT since I first started ordering from them in the late ’90’s. Back then the sheets and towels I bought were all first rate and color fast.
More recently they discontued alot of the styles and items I prefer.
I no longer order from here due to the decrease in quality.

Wow! Terrible customer service. Took two months to process a return and after many, many emails and phone calls, I’ve given up trying to get the full value of my return. Initially, they very kindly agreed to pay my $ 60 in return shipping but when they finally processed my return, they deducted what they had refunded in shipping.

I ordered a quilt, two euro shams, and one decorative sham. Instead, I received one euro sham and two decorative shams. After some frustrating «customer service» experiences, I was informed that the products I ordered are out of stock, despite The Company Store’s continued online representations to the contrary. The Company Store made no effort to rectify the situation, and now I need to return ship the incorrect (and incomplete) order, submit a request for a return shipping refund, and wait 4 – 6 weeks (after they receive the return shipment) for a refund for this order. I purchased from The Company Store several times in the past and was pleased with their products, but after this frustrating and disappointing experience, I will never buy from them again.

Inept customer service and completely outdated systems. I ordered a duvet cover from The Company Store and promptly received a confirmation of my order. This was 3 and half weeks ago and since that time, I have not received the product I ordered or any explanation for the delay. I start wondering if my duvet cover got lost in the mail. So… I take it upon myself to call customer service and (after being on hold forever and a day) they cheerily inform me — get this! — the item is sold out, and it is «doubtful» that I will ever receive it. They proceed to tell me that I should wait another week and then call back to see if I might get my order that I placed nearly a month ago. Um… what???
The Company Store is a joke. I won’t waste my time with this garbage again. It’s too bad because at one point this was a decent place to get high quality bedding, but that’s definitely no longer the case.
And what’s up with all the blocked 1-​star reviews here on Unilocal for this company? Suspicious.

They overcharged me 10.00 for a blanket. On the checkout page it said 59.00, when I hit confirm the next page showed I was charged 69.00. I have contacted them 3 times, each time they have a lame excuse about why they can’t currently process my refund. It has been over a month!
Here is my latest email to them about the overcharge:
Hello again,
I STILL have not received my refund for a 10.00 overcharge. I have to say at this point I am extremely dissatisfied with my first (and only) experience with The Company Store.
First, this was your mistake to begin with, but no problem I understand mistakes happen. But now I have had to contact you THREE times for a silly ten dollars. I have had such positive experiences with other retailers even when there is a problem, so I am very disappointed in your handling of this matter.
I will continue to purchase my bedding from West Elm, Land of Nod, and Garnet Hill but I most definetely will not return to The Company Store, nor recommend it friends or family.

Please do not stop making in the USA!!! It is a huge selling point and the number one reason why I bought from this company.
I LOVE my down comforter, it is absolutely perfect and what I was looking for. I used a promotion code and received free shipping, and was overall very happy with the service of this company.

Wow. Look at all the filtered negative reviews. Over 50 of them. Why are they filtering all of the negatives — including mine. Shame on you Unilocal.This is not fair to people who need to know how bad this company’s service is.

I love their products, however, they have terrible customer service. They only consider something lost if you haven’t received it a month after they shipped the product. Also, the customer service team does not get back to you with tracking information or any information except to wait. I will not be purchasing anything from them in the future which is sad as I have been buying from them for the past few years.

Beware this store — total scam. I signed up for their credit card as they offered deferred interest for 6 months… except that they started charging me interest — that will teach me not to look carefully at the statements as I didn’t notice for a couple of months. When I called, they claim that there is no record of the promotion and so basically — tough luck.
I also used a reward certificate to pay for an item in the store. The receipt said that it had been accepted and thank goodness I had the hindsight to print the receipt out. I find out on my statement that they have charged me the full amount. I call them and they say there is no record of the reward being used (I’m seeing a pattern here — they don’t seem to keep any records). I had to fax them the copy of the receipt and finally they said that they will credit me with the money — of course no apology! If I hadn’t kept that receipt I am certain I would not have received the money back.
They have the rudest customer service representatives I have ever spoken to.
I will never buy from this scam of a company again and will be closing my account as soon as I get my money back.

I want to be buried with my Company Store overstuffed down comforter. Oh so soft. It is literaly a bed of feathers. Got it on sale because it was an gaudy green color, but I just bought a duvet cover. Problem fixed and now I sleep in a cloud.

I wasted a ton of time and money on «bargain» down comforters before deciding to spend a little money to get a quality blanket. I love my comforter and will definitely purchase bedding from the Company Store again. Not only do they sell quality products but they provide information to the consumer to make an informed decision about which comforter is right for them.
Two months later, they called me to see how I liked my order. As a cynical consumer, I was floored. I still haven’t recovered.

I really can’t say enough good things about the Company Store! I now refuse to purchase sheets anywhere else. I’m telling you, once you discover the Company Store, there’s just no going back! The quality is just amazing, totally and completely unsurpassed by any other bedding retailer out there.
My mom used to get this catalog in the mail, and she bought me my first set of C.S. sheets when I was in college. While I’ve always loved the stuff we ordered from them, namely their jersey knit bedding (heaven! it really is like sleeping it a t-​shirt!), I had to go through a couple of sub par sheet sets before *truly* understanding the difference between Company Store sheets and OTHER sheets!
If there is one thing I can’t stand, it’s when fabrics pill! I HATE that… both of the sheet sets I got from Bed, Bath & Beyond, although initially soft and comfortable, started to pill within just days of sleeping in them… what a waste of money. While the Company Store’s prices are a little higher upfront, their bedding is a wise investment that will last you for years to come, and their fabrics have never pilled on me, not even minimally (apparently this has to do with how the fabric is woven). Hundreds of washes later, the sheets will be just as nice as they were the day you got them in the mail, even softer! I know this because I have my set of jersey knits from circa 2005 and they are still going strong!
They have everything you would ever want, bedding-​wise, packed into that catalog, great colors and great designs! They even send fabric swatches so you can feel fabrics or check out colors before you make an actual purchase. And if you like monograms, no problem… you can get almost anything you order monogramed in a font and thread color of your choice.
The Company Store has a customer in me FOR LIFE!
