History

Established in 1991.

Michael Shaar has owned and operated S.I.G. Property Management since 1990. The company was incorporated in 2000. Michael has grown up in the real estate business. His parents purchased their first rental property the year he was born. As a result he has been exposed to all aspects of the business, from maintenance, to financing, to sales. Michael is a licensed real estate broker and personally owns several rental properties. He grew up in the area attending Village Christian Schools in Sun Valley, and later UCLA where he received a degree in Economics. He is currently a broker associate with RE/​MAX Tri-​Cities as well.

Michael is very active with the community serving as a Director for the Calif Assoc of Realtors, 2010 President of the Pasadena Foothills Assoc of Realtors, and a past President for his Rotary Club and the Montrose-​Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce.

I have been a longtime tenant of a building in Burbank SIG purchased a few years ago. Though an older building well kept by the original landlord, SIG improved things very quickly both outside the building itself (paint, roof, and communal portions of the property) and inside every unit (hardwood floors in living spaces; kitchen upgraded with contemporary tile floors, granite countertops, cabinets major appliances; bathrooms handled the same way… all top-​notch remodeling). I can highly recommend SIG properties because I know they care, they listen to tenants, and they are responsive to tenant needs with very quick turnaround on certain needed repairs or general issues). They maintain regular market and location pricing, and are fair with tenants.
I’ve also had the pleasure to work for the company as their Onsite Manager for the building in which I lived. The same care they put into tenant needs carries over to the care with which they treat their employees. They were able to accommodate me and my schedule as the onsite manager, and provided me with any collateral needed pertaining to the management of the property. Again… very responsive and adaptive. I was happy as both a tenant and employee, but most of all loved the building I lived in and was glad they cared just as much.

SIG was so helpful in getting me into the new place. They were responsive and very professional. A few days they check-​in to see if I needed anything. The place needed some minor repairs (kitchen exhaust fan cleaned and reset, fix a loose lock). Oscar came right when he said he would and quickly fixed all of my requests. What a great team!

Tiffany at SIG has been great! My boss’ Mother has been very frustrated as she resides out of state and is trying to move back to California. With a busy rental market, she has had a really tough time. This office was wonderful and very considerate in helping her albeit from afar. I would highly recommend them as great professionals to work with. Stephanie was kind enough to show me a property with no appointment, which I knew was an inconvenience but I was able to email my boss’ Mom videos which helped her decide on the place she ultimately chose. Bravo to this GREAT office! Fantastic job.

As a tenant in an SIG-​managed property in Los Feliz for 12+ years, I can say that they are very good about responding to our maintenance needs, and are also very good with correspondence and keeping us in the loop regarding upcoming inspections, city fees, etc. In addition, they also make it very easy to pay rent online. Shout out to Stephanie for her help in managing, and Oscar for his excellent maintenance work.

I have been a tenant at 1702 Victory Blvd in Burbank since 2003 — Sig Property Management bought the building a little over a year ½ now. Just recently Angelica Idiaquez who is the property supervisor for SIG offered a complete upgrade of my kitchen and bathroom! When I received the email from Angelica I almost fell out of my chair. I was in complete shock. Was this really happening to me? In the email she states that they will give me a complete upgrade of my kitchen and bathroom. This consisted of new flooring, new tiles, new kitchen countertops, a brand new stove and microwave, and finally paint in the kitchen. The bathroom would get new flooring, new tiles in the tub area, new bathroom vanity and sink as well as complete reglaze of bathtub too. I couldn’t believe it! I have been dealing with plumbing issues and a bad kitchen sink and bathroom for several years now. The tile on my bathroom floor was mixed and matched and ugly. It didn’t look cute. Angelica not only was able to knock out the whole renovation process within 2 ½ weeks she also stayed in complete communication with me every single day informing me of the whole process and what the next steps would be. Everything went so smoothly. If you have ever worked in the contracting world you know there can be a lot of setbacks with scheduling and timing. It was amazing that she was able to coordinate, schedule and get everything done in such a short time. She knew I was going to start working from home in November so she was able to get everything done before that happened. WOW! I am a very happy tenant and my place looks amazing. It feels so good to come home to a new apartment. Thank you Angelica! You have a great group of contractors!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Interesting business model here. I requested to review a copy of my lease before I sign, and property manager Stephanie became hysterical. I very seldom deal with nasty people like this, so needless to say I was caught off guard! She began to stammer, and ramble about how she wasn’t going to go «all the way to» where the apartment was to finish the deal? This is the danger in hiring lazy, unhappy people to work for you. They literally let money walk right out of the door. The one positive was that my application was processed immediately thanks to the friendly office staff.
Anyway, Stephanie was an unpleasant, aggressive woman and I would hate to see how she interacts with tenants if she cannot even play nice to get someone to sign. Stephanie, grow up and sit at the big girls’ table. We don’t talk to each other like that over here. It’s unbecoming :-)

I rented from SIG for about 3 years and I don’t have one complaint! The entire staff was very helpful and pleasant if I had any issues with the unit I rented. I would probably still be there but the size of my family had grown. Misty is who I mostly dealt with, she was right on when it came to maintenance and notifications. Mike was a Cool Dude! My boyfriend and I were pressed for time looking for a place and the team and SIG made everything super convenient from the get go. We scheduled a viewing of the property with an onsite tenant and loved the place!
From there Liz and Bel were so helpful in getting our paperwork processed quickly and even offering to meet with us on a Saturday to sign the paperwork since we work during the week.
We got to the office on Saturday and Bel was amazing! Walked us through every paper in the lease and made sure she answered any questions we had. Even after move in we needed some help with a few things and she scheduled the repairs within 24 hours.

I lived in a condo unit that SIG managed. It’s been really unpleasant dealing with them throughout the 1.5 yr that we lived there.
When I had issues and emailed them, those emails typically got ignored.
Right before we moved out, there was a leak over the kitchen ceiling. I was told we would get credit for the days we couldn’t use the kitchen. We couldn’t use the kitchen for 9 days because they had to fix the leak then used humidifiers to dry the whole ceiling.
SIG came back and gave us credits for 2 days instead of 9 days. SIG just conveniently blamed it on the owner and said nothing can be done.
Then I got charged a $ 375 cleaning fee taken out of the deposit after I moved out. We left the unit reasonably clean but they said the oven and fridge were dirty. Since there was a big leak over the kitchen area and the whole ceiling was ripped out, you can’t really expect the place to be that clean. The invoice for the clean even included «stove and oven placed back to original space». That’s funny, because it was in the right place when we moved out but they probably moved it during the construction. But of course, this was included in the invoice.
Yup, we definitely got screwed by SIG. Emailed and called multiple times and nothing was done. 9 days without being able to use the kitchen and they charged me a $ 375 cleaning fee.
