Professional Pool & Spa

We moved to our house two years ago and kept PPS because they were servicing the pool for the previous owner. This is our first time owning a pool. It is surrounded by trees so gets a lot of leaves dropped in it. Skip leaves our pool looking nice and clean each week.
A few months ago some animal (I’m guessing a raccoon) left a gross «gift» on the steps in our pool. PPS was great about sending someone out within a few hours to clean it and add some extra chemicals to neutralize any bacteria. We’ve also had a dead mouse in it shortly after moving in. Same prompt response.
Overall, PPS is reliable and I’m happy with them.

Look no further if you need a full service pool service. Although we are new to them they treated us like a decades old customer.
Their weekly pool service is very good and they tailor to our needs.
Greg has also installed a new heater and filter which are amazing and cost effective.
We highly recommend them.

I got a quote for a filter replacement and put 50% down. The installer came, went to work without having spoken with us. He plastered the glue for the plumbing all over the ground and our existing equipment. Forgot to make connections and left without giving us any documentation or letting us inspect the work. Not only is our pool equipment not working any more, the filter runs at over 30 PSI (18psi is the starting point for a clean filter per the labels on the filter). The company closes at 2:30 and nobody answers the phone.
They did for the most part a whack job, did not let the customer review and sign off on their work and left a defective system behind.
Not sure how they could have done worse, — maybe by setting my house on fire. in the process.

I am updating the review because of the follow up by Professional Pool & Spa. While the first job was done horribly they came the next day and spend about an hour to fix the situation. So I got a working installation at the end. What really convinced me to update this review was that Professional Pool & Spa made a real effort and demonstrated care. I contracted with a local business in the first place, because that is what I expected from it compared to a chain. Apparently the owner was out of town and his installer had a problem. So this maybe a one time slip and the follow up of the owner convinced me that they do care and are bothered themselves by a job poorly done. So, I would give that business another shot on another installation if needed.

Professional Pool and Spa has taken care of our pool and spa since 1998 so obviously we are very satisfied. Besides the monthly service for the past 17 years, over the years they resurfaced our pool, changed all the pool tiles, completely replaced the heating and filtration system and installed a brand new built in spa. Their routine service is excellent and whenever a repair has been necessary they have immediately handled it. Greg and the crew treat us like VIPs. Their prices have always been very reasonable also.

We’ve found the Professional Pool and Spa folks to be reliable and knowledgeable. When repairs are needed, they can help out there as well. We’ve used them for several years and we have no complaints.

We have been with PPS for a few years and have always appreciated the professionalism, attentiveness via email/​phone calls, and overall professionalism. Greg is very knowledgeable and prices are fair for the service. The front office is warm and I appreciate being able to get quick answers, pay my bill over the phone, and quite honesty patience in giving us a reasonable payment plan when we had a heater, light, materials, service etc. to pay. Great job and we will stick with this company.

On the plus side, Dacy, the gal who works in the office, responded almost immediately to my request for a quote to repair the heater/​pump etc. for my in-​ground spa and somebody was dispatched within one day of my contacting them.
Only problem is, they apparently refuse to honor the prices that are advertised on their own website. The website boasts that all new customers get a free month of service and goes on to offer a special rate for «spa only» service of $ 49/​month. Imagine my surprise when I was quoted $ 69/​mo. with the first month free. I linked Greg to his own site and asked him to explain why I would not be eligible for the advertised price and pointing out how his website lists that ALL customers get the first month free, so why am I being quoted the price for an entire pool just to maintain a spa?
Have yet to receive a reply to that e-​mail. Classic bait and switch. See ya, I’ll keep looking for somebody that doesn’t try to lure in customers with advertised specials on their site that don’t exist in the real world.

I had a great experience with this company. They managed to fix my spa that another company failed miserably at. They were on time and did exactly what the said they would do. I highly recommend Greg.

we are very happy with our pool service

I have to preface this review by saying that a month ago I would have given PPS 5 stars. My husband and I have canceled service with this company today. Customer service is a big one for me, and while Greg did give us a break on a late fee in the past (payment was late while dealing with death in the family) we were taken aback by his attitude in reaction to an email we sent him.
After using PPS services for a filter cleaning I noticed our pool wasn’t clean. I believe service was provided to the filter on Wednesday and our normal cleaning day was Thursday. Thursday came and went without the pool getting vacuumed, and without notice the pool man left a note on our gate that he arrived but could not clean the pool because the water levels were too low.
I have a newborn baby, and my other children, who normally use the pool, are gone for two weeks with family in Florida. I do not spend a lot of time in my backyard these days, so any type of communication letting me know that the water levels were low, or that the pool tech was coming back on a different day would have been great.
Since our pool wasn’t cleaned I emailed Greg asking for a small credit to our bill, which seemed totally reasonable since there was a lack of communication. The response I got was completely unexpected. Greg immediately hit back in a negative tone and here are some highlights:
1. He told me in a not so pleasant tone that it is my responsibility to keep water levels at an appropriate level (I get that, but with a newborn I don’t get out there too often… heck I don’t get out too often)
2. He let me know that we are only paying $ 75 for $ 90 service (if you want people to pay $ 90 don’t run specials for your services)
3. He told us that if we don’t want to pay for the missed day then we can stop service.
Want to guess what we decided to do? He suggested it, so we stopped service.
I get that people often disagree and with emails tone can be difficult to decipher, but I think Greg’s tone was clear. Greg no longer valued or appreciated us as customers, and we would be fools to keep using his services. Perhaps our account didn’t bring in enough money for him.
Some advice: Buy your own conditioner, and chlorine… he charges way too much for this. His labor costs are also high. I normally give people a pass, but customer service is a BIG one for me.
Anyway, do your homework out there people. I’m sure that if we were sold on everything he threw our way, he would have fought harder to keep us as customers since money talks.
Greg, I see that you are commenting on these posts and I hope you read this. I gave you two stars because I liked your pool man and the lady who answers the phone. Instead of making her deal with the drama and avoiding conversations with customers, perhaps you should man up and get on the phone.

When I started looking for a pool service to redo my pool… I mean a whole redo; Greg was not the cheapest or most expensive. But both his knowledge and professionalism made us feel comfortable in making the choice to move forward with his company. The company resurfaced our pool, installed a new water pump and pool cleaner, and an amazing pebble tech finish… Wow!
He has a sufficient staff that was able to handle the job in a quick and efficient manner. Greg took time to explain step by step how to keep up the pool and maintenance. So much so that we could probably get by without using our regular monthly pool guy.
Thanks again Greg for breathing life into our previously dull pool.

The estimate given was exaggerated over the top so that this company can make some money. Call this company and u will regret it. Why would they need to change the water and scrub my pool when it only needs chemical treatment to kill algae and then vacuum the floor. the motor just had one simple problem that was fixed in 10 mins. I informed this company that the water was bluer a week ago and it just turn green for a few days. They still insist that the water needs to be change. You can ask other pool guy your pool can turn green even for just a few days on hot day but it does not necessary need the water change. If this company have a expert employee when they came over, why they weren’t able to diagnose the problem appropriately that the motor just had a simple problem and there is no need to change my functioning motor. This company inform me this is the way to bring your pool back. Which is in correct my pool now is blue and clean without spending 1000 according professional pool and spa. This company attracts people with their add of one free services so be aware you might end paying 10 times as much at end.
I have Steve Vaughan pool services I can assure you he is honest and the best pool service out there. He had been with me for 2 months and he is great. When there was a simple leak with my pool he fixed it and he didn’t even charge me when some company will charge 80 dollars for it.

I’ve used Professional Pool & Spa for years. They’re reliable and respond quickly to service calls. Nice people!
