History

Established in 2012.

We opened Rock Dog and Cat in January 2012 with our flagship store in Eagle Rock, CA. We also own and operate a highly respected pet sitting and dog walking service for the last 15 years before expanding into retail.

We are very excited to expand our business into the La Canada area. In addition to the pet food and supplies, we have added 2 self serve dog wash machines for our customers to use.

We are active members in the communities where our businesses located and regularly support charitable organizations — with an emphasis on those that focus on animal welfare.

I agree that there is a reason why everyone gives this place 5 stars they truly go out of their way to offer awesome customer service. I love using the do it yourself bath it’s exactly what this area needed. They provide brushes and a towel for the bath and the actual machine is great as well it has different shampoos to use and the built in dryer is great. The employees are really nice because my dog is fluffy and I need a lot of time to dry him and each time I used it they added more time for the dryer at no charge.
They also have really competitive prices, it seems like they wouldn’t being a smaller boutique like pet store but I save money coming here than going somewhere else like Petco or Petsmart. So glad I found this place.

The greatest thing about this place is that you are able to give your pups a bath. I took my two jack russell terriers and I paid $ 15 to wash both of them! Every employee ive seen there is sweet & helpful. I will keep coming back.

Omg! So happy I found this place. Both locations are awesome! The staff, especially Raven, provide such excellent customer service. Today, I took Maddi in for a bath. The do-​it-​yourself doggie wash machine is so easy to use, and all the products are just a button away. You never have to struggle to keep your dog in place while reaching for the soap! SO AWESOME!!!

I heart both locations!
There’s one by my house in Eagle Rock & then this second location right by my favorite UA Theater.
They have excellent dog & cat food choices such as wild calling, pulsar & small batch for raw enthusiasts.
I’m also quite pleased their selection of toys, collars & beds.
Plus Montrose/​La Canada location also has a self service bathtub.

Went here for the first time to wash both of my dogs the owner Pete was extremely helpful. He walked us through the process of using the dog wash and gave us helpful ideas. The wash system is very nice and the place is clean. Definitely coming back

Amazing experience i just had here. I walked in after wondering about this store for a year. Coolest asian dude behind the counter went above and beyond to answer all my questions. Awesome service and store! Walked out with samples and bought some treats! Love it. Thank you guys!

I love this store. The people are kind, helpful and they know their stuff. We recently adopted two cats from Pasadena Humane society, after my older cats died earlier this year. I wanted to make sure they ate only grain-​free food after seeing the devastating effects, a poor grain-​based diet (hidden in all household brand dry cat food, posing as protein based formulas — READ YOUR LABELS) had on my older cats. They offered free sample bags from a number of high quality brands, which were all grain-​free. My cats were immediately hooked on the Italian brand of food: Farmina N&D Wild Boar and Apple, grain-​free food for canines. It is like crack. Seriously. They only carried the 3.3Lb bag in the store, but I wanted a BIG bag. I found a 22Lb Bag of Farmina N&D Grain on Amazon, but wanted to support my local store. They matched the price and I had my big bag of food. I will continue to support Rock Dog and Cat.
Staff: Knowledgeable. Helpful.
Quality of products: Top, high-​quality brands.
Service: Excellent. They will even help you out to your car with your big bags of food and cat litter.
Parking: plentiful.
Overall: Clean, well-​laid out store.

I generally never write reviews, but this place was definitely worth writing about. The owner Peter is such a nice, helpful, and honest man he wants to make everyone’s experience there comfortable, fun, and convenient, which is exactly what I felt going there. He assisted me with knowledge about good dog food that didn’t need to cost me an arm and a leg with quality ingredients. The place has a convenient grooming station that you can wash your dog for 20 mins probably the best place to quickly groom your dog with all the available options (flea shampoo, conditioner, high dry, etc) at such a reasonable price ($ 15). I highly recommend every one to support this business because it is worth it to purchase all your animals needs from him.

Hidden in a corner at the La Canada Movie Theatres complex and next door to Café Sole, is Rock Dog and Cat #2.
Lamar, an official Therapy Pet buys his bones and treats there all the time. Everyone there knows him so walks around the shop like he owns the place.
I like that RD and C sells high quality snacks, tried and proven to keep your dog healthy. Albert the Therapy Cat has also been there but only for a cat bath.
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly which Lamar really appreciates.

RUFF RUFF RUFF…
We just ‘rescued’ a dog. Our unkept beast badly needed a brushing and a bath. On previous outings to Starbucks and Northshore we noticed Rock Dog… clearly we were devinely inspired to take Kayla in.
It was great. After a good 30 minutes of brushing and hair removal we were set for the shampoo and dry. It was a great experience and we will definately be back. our unkept beast became a ‘Rock Dog’ in a matter of minutes… Rock On!

I needed a specific item for a new training class I was taking my dog to. Peter knew exactly what I was talking about before I finished telling him. I have never high fived a store owner before, but did today. He was kind enough to fit the collar for my dog. He engaged my kids in the conversation as well. The store was clean & nicely set up. We will be back for more supplies & treats as needed. We want to try the dog washing station as well.

Walked in to check out this store I stumbled on to by accident! I met the owner Peter, who was a really nice and helpful guy. His prices were much less than Anderson’s Pet shop in Montrose. He walked me through some Dog Food options and I decided on the Acana. My dogs loved the new food. This place «rocks», no pun intended! If you don’t buy your stuff from this place you are crazy or don’t mind throwing away your hard earned money!

I have been going to the one Eaglerock for years but my parents live in the neighborhood and I needed to get my usual dog food (for the dogs not me). They were just as friendly as their original location if I’m ever in that part of town I will always stop there for dog treats and other exceptionally yummy yummy dog and cat stuff.

Peter and his staff are all very helpful. They will special order anything you need that they don’t stock.
The dog washing stations are very convenient, and are way better than making a mess washing your dog at home.

Things I love about RDC:
1. They keep a record of my purchases. No more trying to remember what we got last time.
2. The «no mess at home» dog wash stations. Little «Mr. Lincoln» comes out clean and smelling awesome. And my bathroom doesn’t smell like wet dog!
3. They stock the best pet foods at a good price point. From vegetarian to grain free, and if they don’t have something and it’s possible to order it, they will.
4. Peter and staff are very knowledgable and just fun to see on a regular basis. They remember the little things about their customers.
5. Great location (right off the 2fwy at Verdugo) and great parking. I can zip in on my way home or on my way to the Montrose area for farmers market or dinner.

I am so excited to see that Rock Dog & Cat has opened a new location La Canada!!! They carry high quality pet food and supplies. If they don’t have your favorite item they will order it for you. The La Canada location even has a do-​it– yourself dog wash!
I first discovered Rock Dog & Cat in Eagle Rock where I work. They came highly recommended by several of my clients who live in the area. At first my attraction was that they were open late which was very convenient since I work late hours. When they rang up my dog food it was lower than what I had been previously paying! Considering I buy high quality pet food that was a nice plus!
Peter is super friendly and knowledgable and so is everyone who works for him. Really brings back why I love shopping small business when possible, nothing but friendly honest service. We need more shops like this one!

Peter was very knowledgeable! Came in after work to get some snacks for my dog and he recommended a number of products based on my dog breed.
They got food, treats, toys, anything you’ll find in a petsmart. Bring your dog in! They even have a self serve dog wash
