Holiday Inn Express Klamath – Redwood Ntl Pk Area

I am giving this hotel 4.5 stars especially compared to all the other hotels within a 10 mile radius. The staff is really friendly and the rooms are nice. The beds are comfortable and the amenities are decent. They provide you with Bath & Body products. There’s a microwave and fridge which can come in handy especially for those who bring their own food. There is a lovely restaurant called the Abalone and a small casino. The food is pretty good. The clam chowder was amazing. Hats off to the chef. They have free continental breakfast every morning.
The hotel lost half a star due to location (which isn’t really their fault). There’s not too many restaurants or things to do nearby. There is a gas station, post office, a small bar across the hotel, and that’s about it. Also, there’s no cell service unless you have Verizon. Then you’ll have about one bar. The hotel does provide free Wifi.

An excitingly clean fresh and fun gem in the middle of our travels!!! The comfortable modern décor and friendly and accommodating staff leave little to be desired. The gift was surprisingly diversely stocked with essentials and art. Pet friendly. The casino only had slots and was relatively small. We had their Cobb salad in their restaurant which was great.

Nice clean hotel… believe it was built last year. Location was not bad. This hotel is on Indian Reservation and very close to the Trees of Mystery. Although I don’t gamble, there is a casino inside the hotel but it is separated in a different building with easy access.
Heater Review gets a 1 STAR RATING! I was not a big fan of our room heater. When we arrived, the room was extremely cold and took forever to heat up… over 2 hours span. I had called the front desk and they suggested I turn the heat down to 76 degrees with low fan; and also close the bathroom door. I followed instructions but the temperature was still not what I had expected to be. Not only was that a nuisance; after the whole ordeal of heating the room up I decided to turn off the heat because the fan blowing was too much which had caused dryness from my throat and coughing. The OFF button wasn’t really off! Instead; after a few minutes of silence, it would blow out cold air from the system randomly. I had to bargain either leaving the heat on with dryness on my throat or being cold all night; which I ended turning the heat back on again. In the end, it was a loose/​loose situation. :(
Their Abalone Restaurant located in the Casino was a 5 STAR rating! I ordered the FISH OF THE DAY (White Cod) which was very delicious. The abalone crab appetizer dip was tastefully delicious also.
Free Complementary Breakfast with a great fireplace. Food was mediocre. Cinnamon Rolls were impressively good.
Overall, I would come back again if in the area.

This is a well-​run hotel in an area that’s underserved (read: not a whole lot of options), so the only thing bad about this place is that there are few eating options and the price, but there’s no denying that this is an excellent hotel from the quality of the linens to the professional staff. If not taking the value aspect into consideration, this would certainly be 5 stars.

What a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are up to date, clean and spacious.
The complimentary breakfast is the best one we’ve ever had at a hotel that includes a free breakfast. .. go try the cinnamon rolls…to die for! The rest of the food is good too.
The pool is CLEAN and warm for swimming.
And…if you like to gamble, there is a separate building with slot machines. But you don’t even really know that they have them there.
Great place to stay, they treated us well and our 3 year old loved it.
Would not hesitate to stay here again!

Arrived very late after a very long day of driving.
Vicki was at the front desk and welcomed us with the greatest smile. She was friendly, engaging, and a really sweet. She informed about late night pancakes and my kids loved it! Vicki truly made our experience excellent! Michael arrived for his shift while we were checking in and he too was fantastic! They both were so friendly and made us feel at home. Thank you so much! We highly recommend staying here. The rooms were clean and very nice after a long day on the road.

A little pricey for the location and amenities. The room and bathroom were nice, given this is a new hotel. Beds were comfy. AC was loud, as were the guests above us. Luckily the AC+TV won the noise fight. The breakfast, however, was very nice. There were a lot of choices, including pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Kids loved the cinnamon rolls and the husband liked having eggs and sausage.

We were surprised when we arrived at this new and beautiful hotel. The beds were so comfy and the room was very clean. We would stay here again. The only downside was that there was no cell coverage for AT&T or Verizon. There’s a restaurant right across the lobby, but it was awful.

This place was like a dream come true!
After driving through California, searching for a hotel for a better part of 6 hours, we finally stumbled upon this Holiday Inn, on a Native reservation, at 2:00am in the morning, that had vacancy!
I must mention Michael, who was on the front desk that night, as he went far beyond the call of duty in making us feel welcomed. He quickly set up a room for us, informed that the fee included breakfast in the morning (bonus!) and helped wheel our gazillion bags up to our fourth floor sanctuary. He even gave me a compliment on my Star Wars shirt!
I have never been so glad to find a hotel room in my life, and Michael made sure everything went flawless!
Breakfast was small in comparison to others, but it still boasted individually cooked pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs (scrambled or «omeletted»), biscuits and gravy, cereals, toast, bagels, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, milk or juice, coffee or tea. «Small» is the wrong word… breakfast was everything one could hope for, even though it was held in a small 30’x 30′ area in behind the main corridor. You just had to be a little patient as their tiny kitchen had a bit of a hard time keeping up with an entire hotel!
Anyhoo, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who thinks their hard-​earned money is actually worth something. If I’m ever in Northern California again, this place will definitely be on my radar. Ask for Michael!

Stayed here last night on our way up the Pacific Coast on HiWay 101. We had planned to make it all the way to Oregon but the day got away from us and next thing you know, it’s 1am and you’re about to fall asleep at the wheel when Heaven’s gates opened up and — WHAMO! Holiday Inn Express appeared with 1 room left!
The night manager (Michael?) was efficient and friendly. By the time we were all checked in and going up to our room, he was still friendly and jovial. He brought us up an additional cot and set it up in our room (5 of us in all on this road trip including 2 very tired kiddos under 6).
The hotel was built about a year ago so everything is new, clean, and modern!
The rooms itself was huge! The beds were comfortable and washroom spacious.
I do wish they’d have deeper tubs as the depth only came up to about half my calf but otherwise really nice.
A few hiccups like we didn’t have an extra roll of toilet paper and there weren’t any bath robes that I note other Unilocalers mentioned.
Wi-​Fi was hit and miss — worked sometimes and then not others.
In the morning, we came down to the included breakfast.
We were really blown away by the variety and quality!
The kids loved the pancakes in a minute machine. They had both sugar free and regular syrup options in addition to various jams. They offered bagels, english muffins, bread, etc. and a toaster. I was impressed that they offered cartons of 2%, non fat, and soy milk options! Talk about considerate!
The hot food was pretty darn good — eggs, BACON, biscuits, really good gravy, oh and BACON. Did I mention Bacon? My kids may or may not have eaten their weight in Bacon?
Everything was self serve and easily accessible. The kids liked the juice machine and of course us grownups hit the coffee for the road.
There was self-​serve cereal, yogurt, and probably some more stuff that I never go to.
My only complaint would be lack of fruit. The only fruit out were Red Delicious apples — it would have been nice for a few more options, even some whole bananas.
The staff were friendly and busy — on their toes refilling things as fast as they possibly could.
They do offer a small fitness centre and swimming pool (no slides/​kid stuff). Most of the other Holiday Inns we’ve seen on our journey had bigger pools and slides for the kiddos and those of us who think we are still kids ;-)
None the less, I’d stay here again in a heart beat if travelling up the 101 HiWay!
The location is beautiful and surrounded by he magical Redwood Forrest National Park Area! There is also a casino on this property which we didn’t get the chance to hit up on this visit but I’d definitely aim for next time! And from reading the other Unilocalers’ reviews, the restaurant sounds like a gem!

Considering the price point and the location this hotel is a gem. It’s very new and very clean. The beds are comfortable, sheets good (alas, the comforter wrapped in two top sheets instead of the cover), towels fluffy, and bathrooms comfortable. Breakfast a standard buffet (greek yogurt, hot pancakes, real hard boiled eggs, etc), but very clean and well tended to by a super-​nice gentleman. Housekeeping on time, rooms done before noon. Slow, but free, Wi-​Fi. The staff is going out of their way to make you feel at home. There is a very decent restaurant in the adjoining NON-​SMOKING casino. Overall a great spot for the Redwoods.

Just what we were looking for. Staff was friendly, the heated pool was much needed, room was comfortable and the area had the things we needed. We were pleased to see that a casino and restaurant were connected to the hotel. Although the Casino was extremely small and the machines were tight on the purse strings, the abalone restaurant was enjoyable. Antoinette was a friendly server.

I stayed here five consecutive days and here’s the good news: the staff is amazing. For one, not everyone in my group remembered toiletries, so when I went down to the lobby desk, they were very generous and let me have any and all that I needed. On arrival, the front desk was most friendly and interested in swapping travel stories, as we were the only ones in line at the time. Our rooms were very neat and nice, complete with fridge and microwave.
My only reason why I’m giving for stars is because no matter what time of day, I get a max of two bars for Wi-​Fi, which is free at least. My Verizon bounces around from 1x to 4g LTE. At least their Wi-​Fi doesn’t sign you out every thirty minutes or something. And I’m glad there’s a password or every Tom, dick, and Harry would be using up precious bandwidth while sitting in the parking lot. (Who’s to say they don’t snag password already? Lol Idk)
But all around, this is a really wonderful building. I absolutely love the décor and colors (especially the abalone theme in the restaurant next door!)…& the restaurant food is phenomenal!!! I ate their grilled cheese with a side of coleslaw and i can honestly say that they were both the best I’ve ever eaten in my life. Smoked Gouda as one of three kinds of cheese? Ohhhhh yeah!!!

Stayed here two nights while traveling from San Diego to Seattle. Nice hotel, very modern looking, looks brand new, and we’ll appointed. Has a tiny (and I mean tiny) Indian casino attached. Beds are comfy, room was clean. Shower ran great.
Staff needs more training from IHG corporate on how to give better service. They wouldn’t answer the phone when we called from our room. We were trying to complain about the kids next to our room banging on our wall. Staff didn’t leave hot water on for tea after breakfast. The kitchen staff was rather noisy cleaning up, they slid the tables and chairs across the tile floor instead of picking them up and moving them.
This hotel does not offer guest laundry. The Wi-​Fi is terribly slow, it appears they use DSL here, based on the speed. And, 4G data from Verizon is not exisitent here.
Having said all that, this is the only hotel in town, although there is a rather dumpy looking motel next door. The attached casino has a restaurant that serves up a great steak and salmon, but their table staff is either slow or understaffed.

I will start by first complimenting Rebekah at the front desk– she was professional, friendly and welcoming! The hotel was easy to find. It was clean and nicely decorated. The room was large, the bed was VERY comfortable! The pillows were amazing as well! We stayed 2 nights and it was the best 2 nights sleep I have had since I’ve been on the road! No joke. There is a nice complimentary breakfast that includes cereal, yogurt, apples, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, eggs, juice, coffee.
There is a small pool and a gym.
There is also a restaurant and small casino. The casino had about 15 penny slots and a couple dollar slots (small)
All of the staff was super friendly. We would definitely stay again!

Very friendly staff. Everything we have tried here is A plus. We have had 2 lunches so far and can’t wait to try the dinners. Their designer hamburgers are delicious. Bison burger is excellent; South of the Border burger is just grand, with cheese poppers as well. Delicious veges with the burgers too. Sweet potato fries — YUM! For anyone traveling in this area, I would highly recommend a stop. The casino too is fun. Not many machines yet. Just getting started. The gift store also is small but well worth the stop (on the hotel side). Great local jams and sauces. Also some good kids books as well. If you have any lunch left, just take it over to one of the Klamath River’s lookouts. A classy picnic. Can’t wait to go back here again. A+

Friendly staff. The lunch was delicious. Everything on the menu tasted delicious. Had a bit of everything. If you’re in the area I would definitely stop by. The casino is small but new. It just opened 11÷8÷14.

When I made the reservation I told them I had a dog with me and they said fine $ 25 per night for a pet. No big deal. The girl even called me back and confirmed prices and dates later in the day. They let us check in early, which was nice of them. However when we checked in they had me initial the paper for $ 142.50 which was the price without a pet. I told the front desk gal we had a pet and she said they didn’t have that in the reservation and the charge wasn’t there because of it. Rather than go back, add the charge, and print out a new receipt, she said it would just be an anniversary present to us and the dog could stay for free since it was only one night.
When we checked out the bill was surprisingly $ 181.75. I asked about it and was told, by the same front desk girl that checked us in, that taxes and the pet fee made it come out to that amount. My issue with that is not only the price, but the fact that they added it, almost as surprise, at checkout. Why not put the taxes on the bill at check in since you have to pay that anyway? And why say you’ll give a $ 25 discount then go back on your word? That alone ensures I’ll never stay here again.
My other issues are the price for the area. How can they justify charging that much for a basic room when, in the town of about 800 people, you can’t even get a meal past 8pm without driving almost 20 miles north on a windy redwood highway? If the casino and restaurant at the hotel were open, maybe I could see the justification for the price, but without those, in no way is a basic room with a pet worth $ 180/​night. I would expect to pay that in major metropolitan. Not a sleepy community on the side of the highway in the middle of the forest.
My wife and I love the outdoors and hiking and it’s why we went down there, but save your money and stay somewhere else. That being said, the room was nice and the bed was comfortable, but it’s not anything to get excited about. Just a basic hotel room. Not what I would have expected for $ 180 at all. The breakfast isn’t anything special either. I’ve seen better hospital food. Terribly awful coffee.
2 stars for price, going back on their word, lack of amenities nearby. Not 1 star for nice room and comfortable bed.

Check-​in here is at 4, but my husband and I arrived about 2 hrs earlier. The front desk ladies were super friendly and helpful. They checked several times to see if any of the rooms were ready for us to check in early. We were able to check in by 3:30 which was nice.
The hotel is veeery new and very clean! I was very impressed. I would definitely reccomend this place, but remember to eat before coming to klamath. Theres not that many choices near the hotel.

Scheduled to open on August 5, 2014 in the heart of the Redwoods.
We usually stay at a RV campground a mile up, but it’ll be tempting to lodge here instead. There’s also a casino onsite as the property is located on Yurok Native American tribal land.
There’s plenty of attractions nearby such as Trees of Mystery and Prairie Redwoods State Park and a drive thru tree.
