Kamp Klamath is located in the very center of the Redwood National Park, making it the ideal headquarters for exploring California’s magnificent Redwood Coast. Full hookup RV sites and grassy tent sites, all surrounded by magnificent trees.

History

Established in 2002.

After a decade of owning a hotel, a resort and an eco tour company in Baja California, Aaron moved north from his Newport Beach home into the California Coastal Redwoods.

Aaron had discovered a secluded RV park and campground located in the heart of the Redwood National Park. Closed for a couple of years due to the death of its former owner, Aaron saw an empty canvas upon which he might paint his own vision of the ideal vacation campground. Today Kamp Klamath offers 33 acres of campsites, meadows and woods flanked by the Klamath River near its mouth at the Pacific Ocean.

Customer service is Number 1 with the friendly staff at Kamp Klamath. Smiles and good times abound at the Kamp which features fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, volleyball, badminton, horseshoes and a jungle gym for the kids. The convenience store offers food, beverages, firewood and camping supplies at competitive prices.

Situated in the center of area attractions, Kamp Klamath is truly a vacation destination.

Business Owner

Aaron has owned and operated a hotel in Mulege, a resort outside Ensenada, and MexiGo Adventures eco tours, all in Baja California. Additional customer service experiences include Aaron’s ownership and operation of two restaurants/​bars and two catering/​party companies in Newport Beach, California. Aaron’s occupational history includes real estate brokerage, spec housing construction and retail sales which combine in a unique resume for campground design, construction and operation.

Aaron has served as Vice President of the Klamath Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Orick Chamber of Commerce and County Representative to the Governor’s North Coast Tourism Council. He presently serves the America’s Wild Rivers Coast 5-​chamber consortium as Director and past President.

Aaron founded FunBus Tours in 2006 to better serve his guests at Kamp Klamath and other travelers looking for additional layers of local adventure.

Fun camping and social experience. We stayed on a night with a chicken and salmon BBQ buffet with live music on the big deck, talking to other campers. The tent spots aren’t particularly private, but a good size and grassy. All spots seemed close to water, restrooms, and showers. Check-​in and check-​out were easy and we enjoyed our stay.

We arrived at the above location and was amazed at how beautiful the campground looked. We met the staff and they were very professional and informative. The campsites were all grass and was a bit different than we have experienced but nice. The campsites were very big and easy to pull/​back into. The restrooms were very clean. The only reason I gave it four stars is that they had WFI but it did not work well.

What a fun place !
The hopefully soon to be 51st state of Jefferson has offered a fun place where they are already flying the new state flag.
Close to the Klamath River and Redwood national and state parks.
It may appear as just another tent and RV camp, but it’s more than that.
The surf and turf chicken and salmon BBQ and live music made it a really special experience.
The owner and host of the facility, Aaron, along with the rest of the staff were kind and attentive.
I hope you can stop by and enjoy the experience yourself.

Kamp Klamath was able to take our reservation for tent sites on short notice when all the Redwood state park campgrounds were full. The town of Klamath itself is situated ideally for visiting the Redwoods parks — smack dab between Jedediah Smith and Prairie Creek. I had a warm, friendly reception on the phone and in person — taking my reservation without me needing to pay on arrival, and allowing us to peruse all the unused sites.
When I arrived, I was disappointed with the actual tent sites, bathroom facilities and lack of wifi as advertised. There were some tent sites that were a bit more private and secluded which were all taken — but several of them were comprised of a few tent sites side by side in a small field without any barriers between them (although it might be better if you have a group staying). There were also not always picnic tables and fire rings at every site. It is too bad that the campground did not have any sites overlooking the river like the RV park next to it.
The bathroom was overall clean enough but not spotless. The women’s washroom in particular had 3 stalls, but a very tiny area to access the sinks and people always in the way such that I’d always be waiting for use of a sink. Unlimited hot showers was a bonus though, and the water was actually hot! Finally, they advertised that wifi is available, but we could not get it to work, even standing close to the main building.
The tent sites weren’t cheap, at $ 30 a night (although they have AAA and Good Sam member discounts), and it was fine for our purposes (pretty much just a site to sleep in for a couple nights after long days of hiking), but with more notice, I’d look to book in other places first.

29.50 for a tent campsite for two with no electricity. We were planning on staying in the national redwood park but we arrived too late to get a back country camping permit, and their campgrounds were full. The price seemed a bit steep but I know it’s a popular area for camping. The store has a variety of things for sale at reasonable prices. The woman working in the office was very helpful. The campsites were moderately secluded.

Amazing. 2 year in a row we have been here. Grassy, private campsites. This year we brought family and stayed in the group site. Staff is super friendly and helpful. We were able to bring our dogs, which is a huge bonus for us. We were worried that we’d have to have them chained up the entire time but they can roam free in the campsite; only have to leash them in common areas. On Saturday nights they have an all you can eat (until they run out) salmon and chicken BBQ with live music. Music was better last year, but hey, it’s a good time nonetheless!!! The campsite is safe and a great place to take the family and pets!
Not only is the a lot to do in the area: beach, golf, bowling, Ocean World, lighthouse tours, Trees of Mystery, etc., there is a lot to Dorothy at the campsite including a playground for kids.
If you love camping, this place is a must!

Wow was this place amazing. The setting is surreal. We were laying in our tent and could hear the waves crashing on shore.
The man that runs the place (I think his name was Aaron) gave us great tips on the few things to do in the area. He couldn’t have helped us more.
Ok as for the camp ground, there was only a few other folks there when we’re there, and they weren’t close. The grounds were grass and well maintained. The showered for a camp ground were a super clean. My wife and I were very shocked about this. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Lastly, they are dog friendly. We had our golden with us and he lived the place. A must stop on the 101 if you want a peaceful place to stay.

Saturday night salmon dinner is GREAT. Great band and beautiful setting. Will RETURN as much as I can before the summer is over. Would like to camp there on night but my idea of camping is the Holiday Inn.

We found the campground online, read everything about it and booked over the phone. We didn’t camp in peak season, so we did not get to experience the BBQ cookout.
When we pulled up it was a let down. No café, and just not what we expected from the pictures on the website. We picked the campsite farthest from the office, and no wifi service (oh well). The campground is smaller than we were expecting and the swing set is a walk away (didn’t end up having time for it anyway).
We loved it, and will return. It is out of the way, it’s not one of those well manicure/​landscaped campgrounds– well treed and NO pavement. We’ve been to campgrounds where everything is well defined– this is where you park, the gravel pad is where you pitch your tent. This campground gives you freedom to choose how you want to set up. It’s quiet, free showers and beer/​wine for sale in the office. And, most important to us, the people that run the campground are great. They live there year round and maintain it well.
All of the touristy things are a few miles away, the closest actual grocery stores are in Crescent City 40 min away so be prepared before you arrive. And look around when you get to Crescent City, there are some fun things to do with kids, like Ocean World and walking the marina.

I’ve been coming here for years from Portland. I’m always satisfied with the staff, amenities, and ambiance of the camp. The salmon bake is a MUST!!! Check out their website for more information. I highly recommend this as a safe haven from which to view the redwoods and wildlife!!!

My first time it this park. Our friends had been here before to fish on the river so we had a experts to show us where to fish and stay.
We really enjoyed the park and the Saturday night BBQ and band. The 3 man band was very good along with the salmon and chicken. Everyone had a great time and we meant people from New Jersey, England and throughout the USA
We really enjoyed fishing the mouth of the Klamath river for salmon and surf perch. Along with the mile long beach and a abundance of Hawks, osprey and other sea birds diving for the grunions and other small fish.
The RV park and staff are great. Take the big foot trail down to the river during low tide and look for agates and bird watch.

This was our first stay here and our first camping trip bringing two of our dogs with us. The staff was really friendly and greeted us when we arrived. We were showed to our camp site which was perfect for our trailer and canopy. The way the campsites are aligned there are trees and bushes separating each site so you feel much more secluded than you actually are which was exactly what we were looking for. The campground was quiet and well kept up. The showers were free and relatively clean; the only problem is the water temperature varies if/​when someone flushes the toilets. On Saturday nights the owners put on an all you can eat BBQ with your choice of salmon or chicken with rice pilaf, salad, and vegetables (which were all delicious!!) and there is a live band that plays. Patrons are able to eat on the deck while the band plays, however, since we had the dogs we took our food back to our camp site, but we were still able to enjoy the music.
We definitely enjoyed ourselves here and will return for another visit!

This is our first stay here, and everything is great! The staff are really friendly, the grounds are beautiful, the bathrooms are clean, the showers are free, there’s electricity in spots if you need to charge your phone, and they have a small store where you can get anything you might have forgotten. And the prices are about what you’d pay in any store, when they probably could get away with charging much more since there aren’t any stores very close by. Our car battery died, and they have a portable jumper they brought to us to get us going. They saw we only had one table and brought us a picnic bench. Live music & BBQ Saturday nights. Etc, etc. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

The first 2 weeks at this park was wonderful. The next 2 weeks not so great.
They try hard, but fall way to short. They offer a all you can eat bbq salmon and chicken dinner for $ 15.00. I have to say the first one we went to was pretty good. The second time we went salmon and chicken was raw. Not good. Wifi went out for over a week and the owner was not to keen on fixin it. Water went out and so did the electric for 2 days. My advise is go somewhere else.

We originally had planned to camp at Flint Ridge but plans fell through. We stopped by Kamp Klamath to stay for the night, the hosts were very nice and accommodating. When I had trouble getting the fire started, Douglas gave me some kindling and helped us get the fire going. Has a lot of amenities and a good base spot to go fishing/​exploring.

We stayed here for a week in August and enjoyed our stay. The park manager was great, very helpful and did his best to make everyone comfortable. They had a salmon cookout on Saturday night that was a great bargain. The salmon was caught locally, was delicious, and all you can eat.
The RV sites were nice however we only had 30 amp service and no cable. In addition there was only one washer/​dryer which was located outside and was cold water only (which we found pretty funny). This park isn’t for someone who wants resort amenities. However if you enjoy being outdoors, close to the ocean and in a peaceful setting this is the place.

My wife and I tent camped two nights here in August. It’s a beautiful spot and is very close to the mouth of the river.
Nothing fancy or modern about the place, but they do a good job keeping things nice.
Unfortunately, we arrived shortly after they were struck by lightning which took out much of the electrical system. This included the bathroom and shower near our tent spot. Not much of an inconvenience since the water still worked. Second day was a different story. As a result of digging to repair some underground electrical, they broke the main water line! Only inconvenience was that we couldn’t shower that day. Oh well…
The owner was extremely apologetic and offered us a refund. Needless to say we were sympathetic to the situation and accepted a refund for only one night.
Nice folks, we would go again.

We had a blast! We spend our first weekend in our new 5th wheel as new RVers in this campground. We pulled in and the let us walk around and choose a spot, and ironically we ended up next to a couple with a trailer just like ours who gave us lots of tips! We attended the fresh salmon BBQ, it’s was the best I have ever had. The live entertainment was an extra bonus! We will definitely be back!

It appears like this may have been called Riverwoods in the past.
Kamp Klamath is right at the mouth of the Klamath River. It seems like it would be a great campground for tent camping. For a 40 foot RV, however, it was just OK. There were trees that hit us going in, and the power was very limited. The breaker kept tripping and we could not keep power — even when we turned everything off in the RV.
The hosts were nice. On Saturday night they have a fresh salmon BBQ dinner — it costs ten dollars, but was a nice treat after a long day.
I would stay here again if not for the electrical issues.
