Golden West Motel

One of the best roadside motels I’ve stayed in. The rooms are clean and spacious. The linens seem new or nearly so. As others have noted, the owners are exceptionally warm and welcoming, in a genuine way, and it really made a difference in our stay. I told them we’d be driving in late, and Luisa called me on the road to warn me about an incoming winter storm. When we left our phone charger behind, Luisa mailed it back to us. We’ll definitely go back next time we drive through town.

A clean great place to stay. When we were running late they even phoned us en route to warn us that few restaurants were open late in town. The coffee maker in the room is a nice touch. Clean and nice!

This place is fantastic. Nothing fancy, but probably the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. The owners are wonderful. Kind, and very attentive. The rooms are on the small side, but are very comfortable. If you’re passing through Klamath Falls, you owe it to yourself to stay here. You won’t be disappointed.

GREAT place to stay! We stayed twice (up and back from Eastern Oregon) in two rooms. The owners, Louisa and Vincent, made SURE we had the best room for our needs: a room big enough for 3 large dogs, and a room big enough for my daughter, son-​in-​law, and baby granddaughter. Louisa even showed us a couple of possibilities so we could make the best decision. The beds were more comfortable than high priced hotels. The rooms are VERY clean and homey. I loved the quilts on the beds. Can’t say enough for this place that is so well-​priced I could have stayed much longer if I’d had the time. If you need wifi, just ask. Are usually don’t pay too much attention to how friendly hotel owners are, but the people at the Golden West motel reminded me of why it is so important.

Great little hotel. Clean rooms. Everything you need. Coffeemaker microwave and fridge raider in room. Flatscreen TV and cable. And super nice owners. Feel free to go pay $ 60 more a one of the chains for a slightly more modern room. Can’t beat the price!

A motel that had any of these four qualities – (1) a clean, straightforward room, (2) a nice setting on the edge of town, (3) a warm, helpful, smart proprietress, or (4) an super high ratio of quality to low price – would earn a high rating. Golden West gets a 5 because it has all of them.

Stayed here for two nights while visiting Crater Lake. Nice motel, and VERY nice owners. They were both incredibly friendly and helpful. They really made us feel at home.

This is by no means a luxury hotel. Situated across the street from the Home Depot along the truck sales strip, it is a classic low-​dollar roadside motel. That said, the place is clean, comfortable and the owners have to be the nicest people on the planet. They do everything possible to run a clean and family-​friendly place that accommodates most needs, and I think they do so successfully.
I take a medication that has to stay refrigerated, an impossible task on a 2-​week road trip. Based on the reviews here and elsewhere, I contacted the owners to see if they would allow me to ship the medicine to them, which meant them keeping it refrigerated until my arrival. They were so nice about it! I was able to ship the meds and move forward with the trip with confidence. Sure enough, upon my arrival, the meds were waiting, refrigerated and ready for me to take. We stayed at much nicer hotels on our trip, but I can’t think of one that would provide the level of personal service I received at Golden West.

My boyfriend’s mom reserved a night here for us since we were going to town for his sister’s wedding. She said they were a pet friendly motel. When we arrive, we checked in, they did not ask us if we had pets (you would think they would since they advertise as a pet friendly motel). They just said no smoking, fine with us we don’t smoke.
Anyway, we brought our 6 week old kitten in her carrier inside the motel, we were not going to leave her in the car overnight. The next day, as we were packing up to leave, this lady (owner?) comes to the room to see if we left yet, and says in shock, «YOU HAVE A CAT!!!» We said, «We brought our kitten in her carrier as you advertise as being a pet friendly motel.» She was in total shock and disgust that we had a cat and kept ranting on and on, how we had to tell them if we had a cat at check in, and how people have cat allergies, and how there is a $ 10 pet fee because they have to disinfect the sheets now. We said, «Well if you advertise as being a pet friendly motel, we didn’t think it would be a problem. Also at check in, YOU didn’t even bother to ask us if we had a pet. (On our receipt, the pet yes or no section was blank).» Anyway she kept ranting on and on about cats and people have allergies. Okay first of all, people have dog allergies too. Also, people to the left and right of us had a dog, wandering around their motel room NOT in a carrier, whereas our kitten was in a carrier. Talk about allergies to me, when these people let their dogs jump on the sheets, and you’re telling me you want $ 10 for the kitten to disinfect the sheets?! So you are telling me that you don’t wash the sheets unless someone has an animal? Because I thought every hospitality place is supposed to wash their sheets whether or not they have an animal. If you wash the sheets for every guest, then allergies shouldn’t be a problem. But since you ranted on and on, how people have cat allergies and now you need $ 10 to disinfect the sheets, that tells me you don’t wash the sheets for every guest. Disgusting. My boyfriend did give her $ 10 so that she would stop ranting. We won’t be coming back to this place next time we are in town, and I hope others who have pets will be aware that they only allow dogs.
By the way, our motel experience was okay, until this lady went to our room the next day at check out. Rooms were «apparently» clean, towels are thin and rough, comes with a TV (no special channels), microwave, and refrigerator. No iron or ironing board if you are needing one. Cost was $ 59 + tax, and then the $ 10 «pet fee.»
Advice to the owners, do not advertise as a pet friendly motel, if you mean DOGS ONLY. Like I said, the people to the left and right of us had their dog running around the room and on the sheets, but this lady didn’t get mad at that. Just the fact that we had a cat. Also, maybe you should change your website that there is a $ 10 pet fee, because I feel like she made that up. On our receipt it said nothing of a pet fee, just a yes or no section if you had one. If anyone brought a dog here, I would like to know if they charged you a pet fee.

Fair price and very clean room, seriously, I never be a motel room that with frees smell and so clean, nice service too

The Golden West Motel was a nice place to stay. It was very clean, and the owners added extra touches to make it cozy. The owners were very friendly, recommended a good place for dinner, and inquired in the morning if our stay had been pleasant. The price was reasonable, and the hotel is only about 1 ½ hours from Crater Lake National Park.

Stayed there last August and finally got around to writing a review. What a gem of a place to stay. Clean room, clean bed, nice people and a very, very fair price. This was my first visit to Klamath Falls and stayed there on the recommendation of my father-​in-​law. We visit Klamath Falls twice a year and this will be our home base from now on. Thanks!!!

After our first visit this is the only place we will stay when in Klamath. The rooms are large, very clean, plenty of towels in a clean bathroom, beds are comfortable & clean. We loved the quiet. Its close to all the amenities but tucked back off the road so the city noise is minimal. Vince & Louisa are very accommodating, professional & ethical, great owners. The price is reasonable. If you’re ever in Klamath, this is the only place to stay.

This is a family owned business and they are very nice. The rooms are clean, quiet, w/​cable, large, and have plenty of towels in the bathroom. The owners are very flexible about your departure time and don’t nickel and dime you. I stayed there on my way to Burning Man twice and will definitely stay there again if I’m in that town. The price is very affordable. Safe area too.
