I scheduled a reflexology session, but what I got was just a foot rub. AND she cut my time short. I was extremely disappointed. I could have paid a lot less just going to one of those Asian foot spas. I don’t think these people know what reflexology is. Don’t waste your money here.

Went in last night and had a 30 minute herbal bath with a head massage then a one hour full body Chinese massage. It was great! I treat myself here once every few months. Don’t understand why so many bad reviews. Also check their website often they have amazing specials. My treatments yesterday was only $ 85!

Couples massage.
First time here. Easy location off the 405. Nice decorations. Comfortable lobby. But not very intimate. You can hear everything from the next room over. The ‘rooms’ were missing about 1ft from the ceiling letting light and noise in. The staff was quick, very quick, too quick. 1 hour ended up only 48 – 50 minutes??? And they were in and out.
One recommendation is maybe candles or soft music in the room to drown out the hallway noises. Just a thought.
Will I be back… Unlikely.

I used to love this place but it has really gone down hill. Have gone a few times recently to make sure I hadn’t come in on a bad day, but everyday there feels like a bad day. Receptionist seems like she hates her job and wants absolute minimal interaction. Massages have been hurried and shallow with different people. I used to go out of my way to come here but not anymore.

AH! I really wanted this place to be decent since I live so close but it was just bad… really bad. I told myself «I should THINK about going back after trying other massage places and maybe try a different masseuse» but I really don’t think I can take that risk. For $ 40 and a 30 minute (on the dot) «massage,» I just felt ripped off. Here’s why:
It started off my walking in and the receptionist barely even made eye contact before leading me to my «room» (the room’s walls don’t go up to the ceiling). I thought, maybe she’s just having a bad day.
I get undressed, lay face down and prepare for a much needed head and neck/​should/​back massage. I tend to hold my tension there, and while I wasn’t in any kind of pain (yet), I felt like it’d be a good day to try out the nearby «spa.» HA. Little did I know.
She started by jiggling around my shoulder and neck muscles every which-​way direction, and I swear she was either on crack or she was competing for Fastest & Least Relaxing Massage Ever. She’d spend 1.5 seconds on a spot and move on and then spend 1.5 seconds in the next spot and move on… rolling over knots that should have been tended to… It was like she wasn’t sure at all what she was doing. This lasted 5 minutes…
Then it came time for the «head massage.» I just got chills thinking about it. Not only was she Speedy Gonzales, but she scratched my head as if she was ferociously scratching ALL of the scratchers at 7 – 11 before some kind of deadline. It was the least enjoyable thing I’ve put myself through, and every time she came back to my head to «massage» it, I cringed.
I told her that spots were tender on my body when she’d pummel through the muscles at lightning speed, but she’d just say «mmhmmm» like she understood and when she came back to that spot, she’d have forgotten.
Not to mention, she’d do one thing to one side, and not do it to my other side of my body, so I left feeling uneven, rushed, stressed out, AND my hair was now a rats nest from her head massage.
I got home and started brushing out the knots (from the bottom — and gently– because I know how NOT to treat tangles) and my brush was FULL of hair… I mean. I shed because I have long hair, but this was like… disgusting and terrifying. TERRIFYING. Especially or someone with an upcoming wedding.
I just don’t think I can go back and give it a second chance. I even gave myself the night before writing the review so I could make sure I was being rational. But, I’ve had probably 1000 massages (Chinese, Thai, Swedish, Hot Stone, dry brushing, Massages on cruises, Massages in mexico, Physical Therapy massages, chinese foot massages, etc etc etc) in my lifetime and NEVER have I had one like this. I left feeling worse than when I walked in, not to mention $ 45 poorer. Paying all these wedding vendors means I’m trying to save money however possible, so I’m not entirely happy about dropping any amount of money on something that’s completely unsatisfactory…
Update: Almost 24 hours later and my hair is shedding like CRAZY. I’m used to my normal shedding (so is my fiancé, and our vacuum: P) but this is just insane.

I was looking for a decent deal and came across the weekly special here at the Retreat & Spa for a 60 minute massage and hand and foot treatment– I wasn’t expecting anything luxurious and I’m glad my bar was set low! Aside from the short walls which provide no sound proofing, or being left in the room for such a long period of time that I was getting up to leave when she finally came in; it was the white colored stain on the carpet not far off on the right of my head that really kick started my uncomfortable experience in this joint. Seriously; buy a spot bot or something! It looks like the remains of a «happy ending» and is a bit nasty to stare at regardless of what it is from! The lady who did my massage seemed nice judging from the 5 words she spoke to me before she began (You like hard or soft?). She didn’t so much massage me as she did slap the hell out of me and push me around on the table. She also managed to bring me very close to embarrassment– you see tucking the sheet for discretion was the least of her concern; I feel quite close to her now that she has seen all my «stuff» up close and personal. And… never in all the massages I have received have I ever had someone massage my bare ass; it was an awkward and borderline funny experience. It was about 5 minutes in when I started to question if she was indeed licensed to do massage. Cant say I’ll be going back for any other services. I do however appreciate the great story visiting this establishment gave me! Unlike any massage I have ever had, that’s for sure

Great value and they work wonders

The rooms are private but its open at the top so you can hear everything going on with your neighbors! The massage itself wasnt all that great and she had her shoes off plus her feet stunk! I got a package for that plus a parafin wax foot treatment with a soak. That was done in a dark room and the fireplace was off. she left me in there to soak in nothing but a tub of water that seemed dirty. not a relaxing treatment at all!!! Rip off for the price. You are better off going to a foot massage place for 25 dollars you get an all over massage thats better! I didnt like how the massuer came out and watched me pay so she would get a tip.

DO NOT BOTHER! You will be greeted by an attitude that should be your first clue. but I thought. maybe the bubble headed bleach blonde is just a b&*# and the massage will be better. Nope. It was horrible. I left not even half way into it. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Go somewhere else! Do not believe the picture of Kevin Bacon on the wall. He was never there. That was the previous owners photo. Whoever owns and operates Oriental Retreat & Spa now is not worth your time & $ to bother checking out. keep driving.

All the other reviews have said it: relatively cheap (wait for their specials!) tissue massage, no soundproofing, decent place.
The masseuses do not speak English, so be prepared for little — if any — communication. I have a shoulder injury & though I indicated that, the masseuse obviously didn’t understand. OUCH! I’m sure I scared the customers in the next «room» (the walls do not reach the ceiling) because I shrieked in pain. The masseuse was apologetic, though.
After the massage, they offer a foot bath and a paraffin wax hand soak, which was a fun experience.

If you’re looking for the Canyon Ranch experience in Kirkland, keep looking. They just don’t do the whole fluffy robe/​soft slipper/​chocolate bath/​chardonnay facial /​almond scrub /​goats milk/​harmony crystal on your chakra treatment thing. But they also don’t charge $ 175 for a massage.
If you come here looking for a top notch treatment at a good price, you walk away very happy. The reflexology treatments are unlike anything you get in a typical walk in Foot Rub place. It’s 100% about the feet and unbelievably good. The massages are some of the best I’ve gotten anywhere. The combination of deep tissue and stretching is magic.
I’ve always found the people very friendly and never have had any language barrier interfere with my enjoyment.

They really get right down to business. I got the spa week package 1 for $ 50. The massage was great and the lady who helped get out all the kinks in my muscles was very attentive. I had a lot of soreness in my shoulder area after she was done, but she put some warm towels on them which helped greatly. Be warn this is an Asian style massage so it might be a slightly more painful then most people are use to. Definitely will be coming back again.

I would like to start off this review by saying I have been here twice. The most recent time was a benefit of the doubt, second chance type of visit. But I was disappointed again. The first time I went was for my birthday — I didn’t have very high expectations because of the location but when I went inside I was a bit more impressed. The music and atmosphere is very relaxing. The masseuses do not speak English however, so if something hurts you have to actually say «Ouch» before they realize. But overall, the massage itself was good. The masseuses aren’t consistent in who does what so a lot of times if you go with someone else and pay for the same massage you will get something different. So — when my massage was finished we went out and paid and the masseuse stopped us at the door and had the receptionist ask us why we only tipped $ 15 (we paid $ 60 each for the massage). This completely turned me off — tipping is not required. So, that was that. I went back yesterday — after about a year to give them a second chance. My boyfriend and I got a Valentine’s Day package for $ 138 we get a massage, a foot soak and a hand paraffin treatment. So we went in, kind of had the same issue with the masseuse not understanding us but it was easily overlooked. After our massages the masseuse asked us to come out and pay. So we went out and paid, and the masseuses just stand there while you pay and watch you — it’s really uncomfortable, and then they said goodbye to us. We were a bit confused because we didn’t get the herbal foot soak or the hand paraffin treatment. So we just shrugged it off, thinking we only paid for a couples massage. When we got in the car I looked over our receipt and saw that they did charge us for the whole deal when we only got a massage. I called them and asked if they could refund us for the hand and foot treatment and the receptionist (a young, bubbly blonde girl who isn’t very helpful or informative) said no, but she said if we wanted to come back we could get our hand and foot treatment. But at that point after already getting dressed and back in the car and after our second bad experience we just said forget it — and went home.
All in all the massages themselves are not bad here — but the service really is just not on par with anywhere else I’ve been. And every time I leave I feel a bit like I didn’t get my full money’s worth. I wouldn’t recommend this place even though the prices are really competitive. Trust me, pay $ 50 more to go somewhere nicer you will NOT regret it.

I like to think of myself as a somewhat of a massage connoisseur, as i try and get one weekly, if not bi-​monthly. I have had massages all over Seattle, as well as internationally.
This style is a little different, its called ChiGong Tuina massage.
The philosophy behind ChiGong Tuina massage is that pain in the body is caused by blocked «Chi» energy and that the flowing of «Chi» will bring our body into balance. So, it’s a pretty deep, all over body, intense massage.
We work out at a cross fit gym and our muscles are always sore.
My husband and I discovered this place by accident and get couples massages here. (its a little cheaper than getting our own rooms)
It is not fancy, but it is clean and friendly and professional.
If you don’t like a firm, deep massage– let them know up front.

My boyfriend and I got the couples massage here a few months ago. The atmosphere was ok, like most people here say, it’s kind of loud because the walls don’t reach the ceilings, but it didn’t distract from our massages. My massage was very relaxing but my boyfriend said his was really painful. I didn’t hear him complaining during the massage, but he was sore for a couple of days after.
I came here a couple of months later hoping to have my same relaxing massage, but I definitely got the painful one that time! Even though I asked the masseuse a couple of times to lighten her touch it didn’t seem to make a difference. I toughed it out but I will not be back. I don’t like to leave feeling worse than when I went in… Plus, I arrived on time but had to wait about 15 minutes for the masseuse to come back from her lunch trip to the mall.
That being said, if a painful massage is your thing, this is the place for you!

I’ve been going here for a few years; I recently moved to Downtown Bellevue, and make the drive here because of how well they do.
They have reasonable prices, and always ask to make sure I like the shape of my eyebrow wax. I feel no pressure to buy other services or products, which is a great relief.

I have only been here once for a spa package of a 1 hour massage session, herbal foot soak and a hand paraffin treatment. My first massage session and I absolutely loved it! The foot soak and the paraffin treatment were nice add ons.
Didn’t expect much out of this no-​frills spa in a strip mall location, but the deep tissue massage was beyond relaxing. I suffer from insomnia and slept blissfully for a week after the massage. The service was warm and friendly too.

I first have to qualify my 5 star by saying I love getting really deep tissue massages (accupressure is the better term).
With that in mind, I had the best massage of my life last night. It was the right pressure in all the right places. I am definitely feeling bruised today but that’s what I expect. If you are looking for a nice relaxing spa massage, I’m sure Oriental can accomodate, but if you are hunting for a place that will undo your knots, Oriental is the place to go.
I’ve been to Oriental off and on over the past three years and while I have tried other places, I always find myself coming back to Oriental when the aches get too much. The place is really clean and well maintained. The staff are very attentive and most importantly, strong!

I’m a little disappointed. My sig other bought me a 50 $ spa gift certificate and it just happened to be Spa Week. I thought it might be nice to try out a Chinese Tuina massage. Being asian, I kinda know what to expect. No frills atmosphere and (ideally) a ridiculously strong massage. I personally dislike Swedish just because its a glorified, overprice lotion application. If I need a massage, it’s because I need some knots taken out. My massage therapist (who had no name), wasn’t able to speak English at all. I tried speaking in Mandarin to her, but that didn’t work either. Anyway, she pummeled my back, and for a 4’10″ lady, she’s pretty strong. «Nice!» I thought. She was working through the knots in my back like a chef beating up a chicken cutlet. She definitely showed them who was boss and it was pretty good.
Half through the massage, she just got up and left. She didn’t say anything either. I thought «whoa, what the f*** is going on?». I started getting dressed. 5 minutes later she came back waving something to the effect «so sorry» and she started point me to go back, get undressed and lay back down. In fact, she practically started peeling my clothes off of me to help me back into my treatment. Kinda uncomfortable. She threw some scaling hot towels on me to remove some of the massage oil (which is usually fine, but I don’t like to get cooked to THAT extent). Fine, she wiped me down, told me to turn over.
Here’s where it all went south. Now, asians tend to give highly pressured scalp massages with a lot of definite placements and hard pushing. They aren’t meant to be immediately relaxing. HOWEVER, asian scalp massages should not make you bald or give you a headache. She gripped my skull like it was a bowling ball and she was literally tearing out my hair follicles while she gave me a «scalp massage». I tried to tell her to stop or at least reduce the pressure but she DIDN’T SPEAK ENGLISH. She even asked me «is pressure ok?» to which I responded «NO, NOT OK» while waving my arms. I then proceeded to say «No, lighter please», «No, too hard», «No, no good» but she didn’t understand a word. It was by far the most painful skull massage ever. She even dug in her nails to scrape the sides and top of my head. Not relaxing at all.
If the tuina had stopped right up before the head massage massacre, I’d probably go back. But given how much my head is still hurting 2.5 hours later, I’d say pass on the tuina.
I might consider going for the reflexology but it may take me a while to regain confidence in this spa.

OMG, that was one of the best massages I’ve had. I had Zoe, who was great. She focused on the spots I wanted and she didn’t try to break me. I got the Chinese Healing massage, which is also called Qigong Tuina. It is supposed to unblock your ‘Qi’ energy to alleviate pain. Whatever they did, it was awesome. After they were done, I just opened up my wallet and told them to take whatever they wanted.
The place isn’t fancy, but neither are their prices. The rooms are spacious and clean. The only downside is that the walls don’t reach all the way to the ceiling. Occasionally you can hear conversations from the reception and other rooms.
