International Ballet Academy

Our daughter has been dancing at IBA for four years now. Ms Alison has been her teacher since she has been four years old. We have seen our child grow into a beautiful and disciplined dancer. When we observe class during observation week it is clear that Ms Alison does a wonderful job with her students and her curriculum. When in class she expects her students to be prepared to work and pay attention. Our daughter said «I like Ms Alison as a teacher because she is always pushing us to do things so we don’t damage our bodies.» What my daughter meant was that she reminds the children about body placement and awareness so they can do things properly. She has a good balance of discipline and being funny with her students. One time she called the kids «silly sausages» and our daughter thought that was hilarious.
Also, I have taken adult beginning ballet with her for a while now and I enjoy going to her classes. She challenges her adult students and is a pleasure to have as a teacher. Also, Ms Alison encouraged me to dance for a production and I am glad she did bc I get to experience dancing on stage and share it with our daughter. Oh! I forgot to also mention that I have taken adult classes from the other teachers and they have been all amazing and I enjoy their classes.

IBA is the finest school on the east side, and honestly the best school in Washington state. Vera, and all the wonderful teachers at IBA, work extremely hard to get you where you want to be professionally in the dance world. If you give them your time, they won’t waste it. They not only train your body, but also your mind, which is needed when you want to take your training to the next level. All classes from pre-​ballet to advanced are taught in the Vaganova method, and IBA is the only school in WA that teaches the Vaganova method. You will love the classes at this studio if you are first trying out ballet, or pursuing a career in dance. Do you love a ballet class that is challenging, musical, and makes you sweat? This is the place for you. I promise you’ll be smiling from ear to ear after class is over:)

International Ballet Academy has been my home since I was 8 years old. I started out in the school then moved on to the professional division program. I grew not only as a dancer but as a person throughout my years here. The training here for me was incredible! You become such a versatile dancer throughout the professional division program. Not many schools have the variety that IBA has. I consider my classmates to be some of my closest friends! With the training at IBA I am now dancing as a Trainee with State Street Ballet Company in Santa Barbara, CA. This school is a very special place to me!
