My wife and I absolutely love Yumi and the work she’s done for our home and family!!! I cannot accurately articulate how pleasant and enjoyable the process was and how strong the sense of relief we felt knowing that Yumi had control of the many hundreds of details with our project. What stands out with Yumi is her attention to detail, command of all things design related (what’s a good material, what’s going to show its age, etc.), her responsiveness and her ability to easily work with fussy contractors and indecisive home owners alike. For our project, I wanted a blueprint of the remodel work (including interior items like colors, fixtures, etc.) prior to choosing a contractor so that I could compare contractors based on a single design plan. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that Yumi specialized in the space planning, the interior design and the coordination /​communication with contractors and subs. The process started out with my wife and I giving Yumi an overview of the style we liked. Once she understood our design preferences, she went to work and showed us numerous color schemes and different layout configurations for bathroom, living room and bed room. With each design, she explained the pros and cons but also was very honest about what her preferences were and why she liked them. There were many times when my wife had chosen a specific color or fixture and Yumi would advise against it. We needed someone to tell us what was a good design choice and what wasn’t. Yumi always respectfully shares her vision of the design and wasn’t afraid to disagree with either of us. In addition to having a gift with choosing colors, furniture and fixtures, that turn old worn out homes into modern beautiful homes, the nuts and bolts of the design process are superior. Yumi’s drafting skills are remarkable! When I showed her final blueprints to my contractor (who is a long time, well respected architect), he was very impressed and commented on how thorough the drawings were. All of the drawings were shared electronically in a cloud drive so I could easily access them at any time. Most of my emails, calls & texts to Yumi were answered within 1 hour.
In summary, if you want to transform your home into a beautiful, comfortable environment and need help making the decisions to implement those changes, Yumi is a true professional who will make the process enjoyable and effortless. She’s very reasonably priced for all the work she does and you wont find a kinder or more enjoyable person to work with. Before we met Yumi, my home was dark, dreary and uncomfortable. NOW, my home is a place that my family AND friends truly enjoy being in and sharing. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Hatano Studio!
