Amazing Heroes: Toys & Video Games

I thoroughly enjoy this place. I live up the road from them, and I’ll stop by and just buy random things — they’ve been super helpful in finding me things I’m looking for (especially Christmas shopping for nephews). Love that they’re local, and hope they stick around.

Love this store even if just stopping in to get my geek fix ill leave wanting so much. Ive read bad reviews that the owner is stiff and rude but not in my experience. To me he is fair and knowledgeable. The guy runs a buisness and for some reason people think they will get top dollar when they sell things. Doesnt work that way.

Organized, clean collection of new and old video games, comics and toys. Staff if friendly and know what they are selling. Only word of advice is to try not to spend too much :)

Came in looking for a used PS2. They sold me one cheap, plus a few games, plus a collection of Star Wars comics, all for a fair price. The controller didn’t work, but they let me exchange it for a working one easily and pleasantly. Nice service, good collection, excited to go back for more comic collections.

They have an impressive collection, and the one lady working did ask me if I needed anything several times. Purchased some comics for wife and three used toys. I’d bought from them on eBay before so I was pretty excited to dig in. We Live in vancouver, WA so this was my first chance to drop by.
Two were fantastic, but the other, which I was told was missing accessories was not only missing accessories, but two main parts and had a broken lever.
I didn’t ask for cash, I just asked for an exchange, but after a phone exchange, we both donked up a bit, she thought I wanted cash back instead of just an exchange we worked it out and I left with more cool swag.

This place looks like a giant nerd hoarded lots of cool geeky stuff for years and then decided to sell it. There is ton of really cool stuff in here and if you spent a few hours browsing I’m sure you could find lots of awesome loot.
The location is a little bit weird and hidden away in a strip mall, but there is plenty of stuff inside once you find it just off the 405.
I dropped in here after work with a friend and we were excited to check out the place. The funko wall was super cute, and there was a huge range of comics, although it was a by hard to see all the stuff that was available because there wasn’t much room on the shelves. I did pick up a copy of a comic I had been looking at for ages, and although my friend found something she wanted where the cover price was $ 3.99, she was told that the «actual» price for it was $ 20! When we queried that, we were told, «oh, we just changed the price for that one recently.» However, there wasn’t anything to indicate that at all on the comic. Needless to say, we put that one back.
Service wise, I wasn’t treated obnoxiously like some other Unilocalers mentioned, but I don’t know if it was just because we didn’t look like serious geeks and not worth serving or something. That’s fine by me, although it also means that there’s nobody to ask for help when I need it.
There is also a massive range of old school console and early day portable gaming – I found a Sega Game gear in here for $ 60. I had one as a kid and it was great for nostalgic purposes, although I think my gaming tastes have evolved since then. There are some game boy color and ds games as well, but they were quite spendy. I imagine this would be good for people planning to add to their collections but not much else.
There is plenty of room in the parking lot. I’m not super excited about the service, but I am about their sweet loot.

If you want good service, before you walk in, make sure you have money present or better yet clip some money onto your body to show the owner you have money otherwise you will be treated like garbage.
The owner is not only rude but very unknowledged about the products he sells. He claims Amazing Adventure 11, which is 1^st appearance of Beast with Fur, is Wolverine. What the heck! This guy does not know comics.
Try dealing with him via craigslist or his eBay, you will get the same service as if you were in his store.
I can’t wait until his shop goes bankrupt and his wife has to dance on that pole at Rick’s. I wouldn’t even pay money to see his wife dance at Rick’s.
And don’t sell anything to him. He will low ball offer you. He will complain to you that he has to make a return. Yup a 250% ROI. He won’t pay you in cash, he will only pay in a check. His check bounces more than the bouncer at Moe’s bar on Capital Hill.

First, I hardly ever write reviews but I felt after reading the comments on Unilocal prior to my visit and after my visit that I needed to recount my experience. I certainly understand experience with Customer Service in shops is based a lot on perception of the experience, here is mine.
Amazing Hero’s: In the past month I have been to probably 8 toy store/​Comic shops in the area to check out their toy inventory and to pick up the Star Wars comics. AH was great, price wise probably the best place that I visited in particular for the Black series 6 inch figures.
Heck Golden Age Collectibles is selling the Leia for $ 32, I picked this figure up for $ 18 at AH plus a few other items. The comic bundles are great I love the idea of picking up a complete story arc in bundles.
To address the help, when I walked in a gentlemen said hello as he was helping someone else. A few moments later, I assume the co-​owner his wife, came up and asked if she could help me with anything. As I looked around after about 5 – 10 mins after the gentleman who I believe was the owner was chatting with another person in there about Marvel/​Hasbro figures. After that he came by to see how I was doing and chatted me up about the 6 Inch Black Series figures for a bit. After a bit more another guy working there came and talked to me as I was looking around as there was a little girl there. She was super cute and sweet sitting in the sun by the door, eventually she came over and was talking to me and offering me some of her chips. I am not sure about the kid unfriendly comments.
Over all I thought from chatting with the guy working there about turtles, he was someone I could be friends with. I generally thought they were super helpful and nice. I am not a person that needs my hand held or to be chatted up. I prefer to look around and see what they have if I have questions I’ll ask. Its ok if the workers are busy I have worked in CS before it can be draining and everyone has a bad day here and there. I
I certainly hope people are not diswayed by the comments on here. They have a great selection at great prices that in some cases match Amazon. Overall the experience was great and I’ll be back again, heck if they were closer I’d be there weekly. But from Beacon Hill it’s a bit of a drive.

I read the reviews before visiting this establishment to buy a Christmas gift. I have to admit, I was nervous, but they were the only location I could find that had the gift I needed to buy. The reviews below state that the owners are lacking in personality, rude, racist, and prejudice against women (particularly those with small children). I am a woman with a bi-​racial child, and we could not have had a more pleasant shopping experience. I interacted with both the husband and wife (and I should note they had their own small child in the store). Both were very friendly and helpful, the husband offering to help me carry items when my hands were full; the wife later offering assistance and helping me find my perfect gift. I did not feel unwanted, I did not feel ripped off (actually, the prices here are shockingly low), and I certainly did not feel that ownership is lacking in personality. It was a great shopping experience and we will be back to buy more!

I have to say that I am incredibly disappointed in the business practices of this store. My boyfriend WHO LIVES IN SEATTLE and DOES NOT HAVE A CAR, went all the way to Kirkland on the bus to buy me a Nintendo NES that he saw advertised by Amazing Heroes on Craig’s List. While he was there HE WAS TALKED INTO a gold «special edition» version. He thought I would love it because it was different and was charged almost three times as much for this console. He gave it to me last night and this «special edition» was spray painted with gold paint. There were also a few games included one of which was another «special edition» Super Mario Bros that was also gold. While I am touched by the thought behind my boyfriend’s gift (since I have wanted one for a while now) I am upset about the business practices Amazing Heroes employs.
1) They TOOK ADVANTAGE of a customer who didn’t know any better. My boyfriend is not a Nintendo aficionado and when he was told it was «special» he thought they were telling him the truth, not just selling him a spray painted version for three times the price.
2) When my boyfriend called today to express frustration because we both took a closer look and realized it was spray painted, they told him that THEY WOULDN’T TAKE IT BACK and that «the spray painting was done well.» He asked if they would consider doing an exchange and he would make up the difference by buying additional games. They again said no and said, he «could probably sell it on Craig’s List.»
I work in marketing and have worked in Customer Service for a number of Fortune 500 and small mom & pop companies. This is not how you get or retain customers. I am going to report this business to the Better Business Bureau and tell everyone I know that AMAZING HEROES HAS SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES.

I NEVER POST ANYING ON Unilocal, NEVER FELT A NEED TO BUT THIS INSTANCE WAS TOO RIDICULOUS.
So I came in earlier today and was looking for an Xbox 360 adapter. I asked the wife if they had one and she asked which 360 I owned. She pointed at one that I thought was mine but I was mistaken. An honest mistake. She then proceeds to take one out of a tub full of cords and adapters or what not.
Pretty happy to start playing my Xbox, I return home to realize that the adapter doesn’t fit. Within 20 mins I’m back to the store trying to return or exchange for one that fits. The owner «bald guy» blames it on me for being misinformed.
As I walked out of the door, I say «bunch of assholes» out of my own frustration. Not my best moment but the owner was being so rude.
As I get to my car, I see the owner coming after me. He is a foot away from me cussing at me. Almost like he wanted to fight. Saying I’m not man enough to say asshole to his face so he’s calling me a «f_​_​king p_​_​sy» I told him he is an asshole and that not knowing what type of Xbox I had was an honest mistake. He’s telling me that he was nice enough to open a brand new one (even though I saw his wife taking it out of a box of random cords) and that I’m the idiot for not knowing. At this point I’m just trying to get in my car and telling him I’m going to call the police. He says «go ahead and f_​_​king do it»
I have read the negative reviews of this place and I see that same guy trying to rebute saying his «competitors are writing fake reviews». THIS IS NOT A FAKE REVIEW. THE FACT THAT HE RESPONDS THAT WAY FOR HIS LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS APPALLING. The sales associates besides him were really nice but this guy takes the cake.
His AGGRESSIVE AND THREATENING BEHAVIOR was over a $ 10 Xbox 360 adapter. ?!? Keep your kids away from this place.
HE CAME AT ME LIKE HE WANTED TO FIGHT ME. AS A CUSTOMER I’M STILL IN DISBELIEF. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THERE. GO IN THERE AND INTERACT WITH THE OWNER AND YOU WILL IMMEDIATELY UNDERSTAND WHAT I TALKING ABOUT.

The store owner is a RUDE, racist @$$! I went in to do some holiday shopping for ‘shop local’ day with cash in hand. I was happy to see a lot of thing I remember from when I was a child. I saw a hand held pack man game and picked it up to make sure it was in working order. There was no «do not touch» sign anywhere. The place was busy and there were people holding merchandise as well. The guy behind the counter (the owner) actually yelled at me across the store to «put that down!’ stating it was expensive (40 bucks). I stated that i was just trying to make sure it was in working order and was interested in buying it. He said «I said put ti down!» so I did and moved on. My husband who had been in the comic book store around the corner came in and i told him what happened. He went right over and plucked the thing down and started looking at it. The same d-​bag smiled at my husband and asked him if he knew anything about the game and started yammering on about how cool the game was. My husband let him know who he was and who i was and then the guy just kind of stammered and walked away. My husband went to the counter and laid out the almost 2k in cash we had taken out to do holiday shopping (credit during the holidays is BAD!) and informed the @$$ that he would never see a dime of ANY money from our family after the way he treated me then we left.
I told my bother about what happened and all 6 foot 4 inches of him went in to look around (he is actually a huge Star Wars collector) and the guy was super rude to him and actually questioned if my bother could afford anything in his store. The only thing that is different between my husband and my brother and I my husband is white and we are black.

This store advertises some of their games/​consoles on Craigslist. I saw that they had a sega saturn gen2 there with 5 games. I made the trip on my lunch break from work down to Kirkland (skipped my lunch :-() so i could pick up this Saturn they were advertising.
However, when I got there they didn’t have a gen2 saturn they had a gen1 and the store was being run by the owner’s buddy that to his own admission «doesn’t know that much about games» while the owner was enjoying a vacation in Hawaii.
When I got to the store I couldn’t see the saturn or any of the games so I was worried. Talked to the guy working there and he talked to the owner on the phone. I didn’t hear the whole conversation but it certainly sounded like they either:
a. They never had the items in the first place
b. They sold the items, didn’t remove the ad from Craigslist and continued to use it to attract new customer’s to the store.
Needless to say this is false advertising. If you’re a professional business you make sure the person you leave in charge knows somewhat about the product they are selling. Additionally, if you sell an item you take the ad down — I watched that ad sit there on Craigslist for 3 days, they had plenty of time to remove it but didn’t.
Instead he was too busy enjoying his Hawaiian vacation. Hope you had fun Mr. owner!
I will not be going back to this store. Instead I’d suggest Another Castle Video Games in Edmonds — they even have an arcade there.

In a strange and inconvenient location for me surrounded by drab office buildings are most of my childhood dreams come true. I sort of feel bad for this place because the poor location means that you can easily miss the store unless you’re actively trying to seek it out. I also pity the numerous one-​star reviews that are generic and very suspiciously written, most likely by people working for competing businesses. I’m not even sure how big of a deal that is because when I mentioned to the guy behind the counter that I found out about the store on Unilocal,he didn’t have much of a reaction.
Anyway, this is a video game store that fills in where GameStop does not. The primary draw of this store to me is all the retro games that they have. Of course, that’s not all they specialize in. They have quite a variety of comic books, strategy guides, and action figures. Dear God, they have a ton of Star Wars action figures. This is stuff that you could not easily find in a more mainstream store like GameStop, so expect the prices to be high on average.
Let’s see, I saw some crazy stuff like Chrono Trigger for $ 125 and Pokemon Red for $ 45. You could get much better deals on Amazon or Craigslist if you’re okay with not buying directly from a store. Then again, there are some good deals here for average games that are priced under ten dollars or even five dollars. And at the very low end of the spectrum, absolutely worthless games like Madden 2005 for the Nintendo DS and Sprung are only one dollar each.
One problem that I have is with their paltry selection of Game Boy Advance games; they had no Fire Emblem or Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones which I’ve been trying to find for some time. On the plus side, they do have some original contributions like fan-​made redesigns, which are essentially ROM hacks that have been unofficially edited and uploaded onto plastic cartridges that supposedly can be played on the real consoles. This includes imports from outside North America like Terranigma and Dragon Quest V, as well as fan overhauls like Zelda: Parallel Worlds. If you’re that devoted of a fan, you can spend roughly a hundred dollars for the box and a hard copy as opposed to using an emulator or YouTube.
My impression is that to even run a store like this, you would need to be fairly knowledgeable about video games in general and probably be a hardcore gamer. But when I asked the store clerk whether he could replace the dead save battery for my Pokemon Crystal cartridge, he simply said they don’t do that here. Disappointing, as this is a common problem and step-​by-​step tutorials as well as videos have existed online for years showing how to address this issue. I’m just lazy and don’t feel like doing it myself.
In the end, I want to give these guys a positive review because they do carry a whole lot of stuff that is becoming rare nowadays. I saw Nintendo 64 transfer paks in their inventory, and that tempts me to buy a Nintendo 64 and Pokemon Stadium 2 so that I can play my old Pokemon games at super speed. I’m kind of deterred from doing that because it’s a bit expensive, and they also don’t seem to put a lot of care into cleaning the used stuff they sell. I would have loved this place when I was a kid, but there are a few shortcomings that make this place less than ideal.

I stopped into Amazing Heroes today looking for some Sega Genesis games, expecting to sort through a few copies of Sonic and Madden ’94 and leave with empty hands. What I found was a huge selection games for Genesis, Master System, and all of the other retro systems. This store has more Master System, Genesis, and NES games than any of the other Seattle-​area retro stores, and I’ve been to them all. Some of the prices were lower than expected, some higher, but overall fairly priced when compared to the other stores. If you’re looking for a rare game for your retro system, please do check them out. I ended up walking out with 3 semi-​rare Master System games CIB and a Genesis version of Star Control CIB for under $ 60, which isn’t bad at all.
I’ve read some of the other reviews below, and I can’t speak on the prices for the non-​video game items, nor about the owner’s knowledge of the industry. I was greeted by a smile and hello from the owners as I walked in, friendly service, and a thanks on the way out.
Oh yeah, they also have an amazing selection of repro and other homebrew carts for the 8 and 16-​bit consoles that I am excited to check out on the next visit.

This store is absolutely amazing. I’ve been coming here for about two years with my boyfriend now, and we have not been disappointed once. The owners are friendly and helpful, and they constantly get new stock, even if there’s only been a week between visits.
I really don’t understand the negative reviews, they all more or less seem like an unwarranted smear campaign from competition or based on minor grievances.

After a year of waiting to go to this store (and anticipating how great it was going to be) I finally made the trip to Bellevue to this store. What a horrible mistake.
The only slightly redeeming quality was that there was a fair bit of selection (although prices were ridiculous) but my generosity ends there. The guy who owns the place made sure to ruin the whole experience with his extreme douche-​baggery and seal his fate of being on the receiving end of my scathing review.
I walked in with a $ 450 budget to spend on robot toys (as discussed and agreed upon with my amazing wife on the trip) and SO wanted to make that happen as this was surely a one-​time offer by my beloved spouse. But MAN! This owner was so rude, so lazy, and so condescending that he will NEVER get a single penny of mine. I will also go to great lengths to get the word out to my extensive nerd community to boycott the shit out of this place.
Amazing Heroes I can only hope that the constant bad reviews you receive of your wretched customer service and lack of human decency kill your eBay business and that you are forced to close down.

Avoid this place at all costs. If you’re a serious toy collector and are looking for a good deal, expect to be treated like a you’re a leper if you walk into this joint. Tyson, the owner, is a businessman, plain and simple, he doesn’t care about customers, toys, comics, you name it. He does care about making money and that’s all he’s in it for. I’ve seen rocks with more personality. Expect to get ripped off if you’re purchasing, expect to get low balled if you’re trying to sell. The store definately has gotten a lot bigger. I remember when it was relatively a hole in the wall, it’s probably tripled in size since they opened so there’s definitely a lot of suckers out there.
If you’re willing to drive, check out Toy Stable down in Spanaway/​Lakewood. Heck, even Bobokhan up in Everett is 5x better than this place. When Bobokhan makes you look good, you are definitely an ass clown in the first degree.

I stopped in looking for yet another place to search for the comics needed to complete my various collections. I was very disappointed by the limited amount of comics available, but completely blown away by the vintage toys and video games. I should clarify that the comic selection was great for diversity, but sorely limited in volume, a single island in the shop.
What struck me was after 5 minutes in the shop, my face was hurting due to how much I was grinning. I spent a great deal of time ogling the original Megatron transformer that I had always wanted as a 10 tear old. This place is great for any geek who is feeling nostalgic for the toys of their youth… but this nostalgia comes at a premium price.

I couldn’t agree more with the other negative reviews here. This place is over-​priced and has terrible customer service.
Toy stores should be places where people can share stories, hang out, and buy in a friendly atmosphere. These guys act like you’re doing them a favor by paying their sky-​high prices.
The man child who owns this store is a real life version of the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. And that’s a bad thing.
He sits on his cheetos covered computer chair being a «bully» on Ebay by night, and acts like a total jerk to his customers by day.
Do the smart thing and sell your toys on Ebay/​criagslist yourself, or spend your money elsewhere.
I would also suggest blocking his Ebay account Amazing_​heros to prevent him bidding on your auctions and being a total jagoff if you don’t agree with him.
One day this guy’s crappy attitude is going to catch up to him.
