Great customer service! Found exactly what I was looking for and love wandering the aisles.

This is an old-​school hardware store — small, narrow aisles, packed to the gills with merchandise. If you’re in the middle of a project and discover you need something, they will surely have it, as they have all the basics covered. The prices are in line or not notably higher than other stores.
Unfortunately, there are a couple of things that drive me crazy about the store. First, the staff is aggressively helpful. I’ve never set foot in the store without being immediately accosted by someone wanting to know what I’m looking for. It’s nice to be helped and directed, but they’re weirdly in your face about it. From time to time, they have people representing businesses here (window replacement, etc), who are insanely pushy about collecting your personal information for a drawing — and they will call you if you share your info.
The cash registers are very small, as though they only expect people to be buying limited amounts, and the lines have a tendency to be slow and back up into the store when things are busy. It isn’t usually a busy place, but when it is, the lines and slowness are frustrating.
If the store is close to you, and it’s not a busy time, then Ace is a real timesaver compared to either of the home improvement giants.

Unhelpful cashiers and poor selection. Normally I think Ace has some pretty helpful employees which they kind of need considering their small selection at most properties. However this place doesn’t seem to have very helpful employees. And I don’t know what it is with the rude or ambivalent cashiers.
Also I went in here with my backpack on (had my work computer in it) you need to store that at the counter if you want to look at the Xmas stuff on view of the cashier. Sorry I can’t do that — let me get suspicious about you then. What about women with large purses — who cares. This is the kind of lame stuff you will experience at this store. I won’t be coming here again and I suggest you don’t come here either.

The most incredibly rude people I’ve encountered in an American store. Everybody just seems like they’re on an edge and like they can’t wait for me to get out of the store.
I’m happy to oblige, never going back here and would rather drive the extra 15 minutes to go to my nearest Home Depot.

Don’t ever buy anything from Ace if there’s the slightest chance it won’t work out. They have a horrible exchange/​return policy. I’d purchased two plant spray products, wanting to see which one my husband preferred. We weren’t ready to start our project for a few weeks. When we decided to return one of the sprays we brought it to the store, unopened and unused, with the receipt. She said it’s not returnable as it’s been over 30 days. I noted «it doesn’t say that on the receipt». She replied «look on the back». Wow, discreetly on the back of the receipt in tiny print, yes it states their 30 day policy. I would never have seen that.
We’re in the neighborhood, but will only shop here if it’s impossible to get to Home Depot or Lowes. The only advantage to shopping here is if you need to run in quickly for something.

This place was great! They have some pretty sharp hardware guys that are very capable and helpful with everything from finding a specific downspout bracket, to recommending a power tool to help grind off old thin-​set. I’m moderately handy, and have found their assistance invaluable at times. They’ve helped me figure out how to muffle my buzzing door-​bell transformer, and they even recommended the local electric supplier for a particular exterior outlet cover I needed to replace. The store’s a bit smaller, and they don’t have everything under the sun, but for day-​to-​day home improvement/​repair stuff, I really like them.

I don’t write reviews often, but felt compelled to share my thoughts about this place. Been here around 4 – 5 times in the past 6 months. Every time, someone came up to me and asked if I needed help finding anything. Usually you have to go searching. I have appreciated all the friendly staff and help I’ve received here. Will definitely be back!

My family comes here a lot since they own their own business and their office is right up the street. However, recently my mom had horrible customer service from the manager himself. My mom bought some basil plants on a recent trip here and wasn’t sure about the quality of a few they had left. She’s worked in the evergreen business for decades and asked the employee who checked her out about any other stock and questioned their quality. The employee that helped her assured her not to worry, that if they didn’t do well to bring them right back.
Unfortunately, a few of the basil plants didn’t take very well after a few days, so she came back to exchange them, but they hadnt replenished their stock, so she asked for a refund or credit. They wouldn’t allow her to and she asked to speak to the manager. She said he barely acknowledged her and just said we don’t give credits on plants, provided no help at all. She was shocked at the different answer and the rude service.
Let’s just say, when we have tons of keys to fill for our rentals, or last minute supplies to pick up for our construction projects, we travel further up the road to another store where we feel taken care of.

Excellent service. Walked right in, got help immediately, out in less than 10 minutes. Ace is the PLACE! Our store in Sammamish closed. If you need help with home repair, these guys know their stuff.

Walked in the store middle of the day. Saw they had there Christmas section. Went over to see what they had. As soon as I walked in the area a girl pops up from behind a display. this area is closed. So unless you have something specific I can get for you this area is closed. I was like ok never mind. walked away from the area. Then another girl yells from across the store. It will be open Saturday. (its Thursday) I turned walked back and told her that is pointless im here now. This work should have been done after or before hours.
I walked away went grabbed the over priced item.(unless its a sales item. Their prices are crap.)
As Im waiting in line had another guy ask me if I want to sign up for a chance to win a gift card.
Their rewards program is pointless. The coupons are not usable on many items. I stopped even using my rewards card its pointless.
So unless you are there to get non holiday sale items. Just stay away.

We just moved a mile and now Ace Hardware is now a little closer than Home Depot. I’m used to Home Depot but thought it’d be worthwhile to make Ace Hardware my regular store since it’s a little closer. After my experience today, i think not!
I came in looking for a rubber washer and brought in my part. I thought I loosely kept the washer on but it wasn’t loose enough for my fingers. So I thought it’d be no issue going over to the tools department to loosen it up for my fingers. After making one little gentle turn, the old guy in tools department berates me for using the screwdriver and tells me now he can’t sell that screwdriver cause I just used it. It seemed awfully nit picky and condescending of him. There could’ve been a hundred better ways to let me know he could help me unscrew it instead of using the tools on the shelf, but the guy obviously does not know how to treat his customers well (at least not all kinds of customers). Anyway, he just lost what could’ve been many years of business for Ace Hardware. I’ll stick with Home Depot. I’ve shopped there many years and never had an experience like that!

First rate tool, supply, expert chat, ingenious solutions place. But hold on… they also have fresh, free hot popcorn! They even fix the machine when it breaks. The popcorn is really good, too. I hate the movie prices for popcorn. Their machine broke so I made a part to fix it, then another part of it broke, I thought it was over… but they got a new one (!). Popcorn can help when you can’t figure out how to fix something. This small enjoyment allows you to stop, stabilize, rest, reflect, succeed. It may stop riots. It’s rare I don’t get what’s needed, and sometimes ideas how to improve things. The people are simply top flight. Go here first.

This place helped me several times, including recently: I needed Schlage door parts for a double-​door and these guys had the matching parts I needed, when no Lowes or Home Depot did.

Most of the staff here is friendly and helpful. And I like trying to give business to a smaller chain rather than one of the big-​box places. The prices are a little higher, but it’s worth not having to struggle in and out of the huge places.
That being said, I have a minor complaint, which is their rewards program is pointless. The coupons are not usable on many items. I stopped even using my rewards card, there is just no point.
Sometimes you will still need to go to BrandX big box hardware, because they will have things Ace will not. That’s just a fact of them being a smaller place. But I still try to shop here when I can.

Worst service ever! Employees don’t care to help. Have no knowledge and seem miserable. Store layout is useless.
Will NEVER be returning.
Home Depot is much more people friendly.

Remember what hardware stores used to be like? Before the proliferation of huge, impersonal, warehouse-​like facilities like Home Depot? For those of you folks 50+ years old, remember what hardware stores of your youth were like, with their smaller shops packed to the gills with merchandise and a neighborly feeling about them? This is that place!
Perhaps this store doesn’t carry specialty items, but for your basic hardware needs — tools, paints, garden stuff, etc. — this place has it. Plus, they’ve a really good Christmas department, too; I saw some really nice electric train sets to encircle the Christmas tree (I always wanted one! Except, my dog would destroy it immediately, no doubt), and trees and lights and more. Even bird houses with CHristmas lights on them!

This place is so tiny, I am surprised they have anything in stock but it is great when you need the little things around the house like a shovel, or a hose, light bulb etc. I thought the prices were reasonable too.
At first i couldnt find any one to help me, i guess they were all busy because by the time i did find what i was looking for i was asked 3 times if I needed help.

This is the quintessential neighborhood hardware store. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. When they didn’t have what I needed, they not only suggested where to go but how to get there. Thanks so much.

Had to do a quick bathroom shower repair on a rental and they had knowledgable people that directed me to the products I needed (combo adhesive and grout so I didn’t have to buy separate products!). I was in ‘n out fast. Prices are a little higher than the big box stores but I didn’t burn the gas to go that extra distance or wait in big box lines so I’m good with that.
I’ll be back many more times

People need to start listening to the entire conversation first or think outside of the box and not assume they know everything and the customer is the idiot.
I came in here looking for some carving tools just before Halloween. Wood, pumpkin, squash, does the tool really matter?
I knew what would happen if I stated I was looking for pumpkin carving tools, then sales associate would automatically like a robot say she didn’t have any. Surprise, surprise, said associate, was really no help at all, she was confused as to why I needed such a tool in the first place. I told her not to worry about it, as I didn’t think she could wrap her head around such an idea… And I was right.
I was looking for something to make scraping out the pumpkin guts a little quicker than a big ol’ spoon. She told me aisle 23 or something to that effect then I overhead her say to another coworker to help me find a spinning scraper tool– never did see that guy.
I eventually found something that looked like a paint mixer and hoped that might work, only when I got it home the shaft was too thick for my drill gun. Thankfully someone else was there when I returned it and it was back to the spoon for me.
I’m sure I’ll be back in the future for other household projects and maybe you’ll get a star added on if you listen to my needs, before assuming you know what it is that I need.
