SpringHill Suites Kingman Route 66

We were in a hurry planning for our trip to the Grand Canyon and the lady in the front she recommended what we should do. She also gave us this huge packet with things to do and places to eat around here.

I found this hotel last minute while traveling between Antelope Canyon and Vegas. I was surprised I could get a room during midnight. The place is in a small town and I did not have high expectations. Upon arrival, I experience great customer service. The facility look in top condition, clean, and modern looking.
The room suite was spacious, pretty decoration, professional furniture include a workstation desk and a nice living room. I couldn’t be happier, it was just what I needed after a long drive. They could use softer towels but this a personal preference. YMMV.

I really wasn’t expecting the room to be this nice. The shower and the toilet having their own enclosure.

«Virgin America mood lighting!» Remarked my husband upon pulling up to this hotel.
This Springhill Suites transported me back to my 2005 Eastern European vacation. Everything about it says «mid grade Euro hotel from 10 years ago», down to the Chuppa Chupps on the front desk. (Actually, I remember those more from the late 90s…)
College-​age travel reminiscing aside, this hotel is just fine for a night’s stay while driving through, which is what I did. The rooms are a bit ragged (lots of carpet stains and slightly dated), but otherwise clean and generally nice. The bed is SUPER DUPER comfortable. The sounds (and serious vibrations) of the train work for me as white noise, but if they would bother you, ask for an odd number room located on the opposite side of the hotel. Front desk was friendly and accommodating, heated pool is tiny and was filled with screaming children from checkin to close at 11pm (FFS, GO TO BED AT A REASONABLE HOUR, KIDS!)
Booked this over my usual Hilton (honors points), but this town only had a Hampton and they didn’t want to let me book with the military discount like I am always able to. They also wanted $ 140 for a nonsmoking room, which was way more than (an even nicer) Doubletree in Flagstaff! WTF? So Marriott gets my money. As I’m sitting in the bathroom here, though, I’m listening to my neighbor blow their nose and watch tv. Herm.

I had an excellent stay in Springhill Suites in December 2015. The girls at the front desk were extremely friendly and inviting — gave a great recommendation for dinner and drinks too! The room was stunning. Everything cleaned well and the décor was very stylish. I stayed with my dog and he loved his stay here as well, though he wished there was a designated pet area to run around a bit! The breakfast was pretty typical, though I was impressed with lemon bread and fresh fruit. A little spendy for me at $ 134 plus a $ 20 pet fee, but I would definitely stay here again because my night was just so relaxing.

A newer property in Kingman. A bit funky. A bit Euro. The quietness of any particular room depends on the proximity of the highway, so ask to be on the South end. Beds are fine, rooms get B– for darkness (big door gap, bathroom nitelite, bright clocks) Kingman isn’t dotted with 5 star hotels so keep in mind that this hotel is the best of the best. The front desk staff has always been nice and the breakfast bar is a nice part of the overall experience

We stayed here on a cross country move. The previous night we stayed in Albuquerque and were pretty disappointed in the hotel there.
In Kingman it was just the opposite. Friendly staff. A very nice and quiet room. Beds were very comfortable. The shower was nice. A good night’s sleep and back in the road another 600 miles. That’s the way it should be

Very comfortable, and quite a different décor than what I’m accustomed to. The bed is perfect, everything was in good working order. Easy to get to from Highway 40. Parking was hard to find for me but I did find a spot by the dumpster in back. It is what it is. The gentleman at the desk was pleasant and helpful, made sure that all was well with my room. Close to restaurants and gas stations. I will stay here again on my return trip.

Great check the in. Unfortunately, there is only one person at the desk so you get to wait. The room was clean and fresh but not quiet. I never thought people actually used the pools and fitness rooms at all hours.
I also think we are done staying on the first floor, not only do you get to hear what your neighbors are doing next to you but also what they are doing on the upper three rooms.

Clean, modern, and a comfy bed. I think for the price point id rather not stay here again. If Marriott is going to be cheap and only staff one person at the front desk they should send reservations to an 800 number. The only two times I dealt with the front desk I was not acknowledged until after the clerk finished a phone reservation. This happened upon check in and there was a line. This morning, the same thing. Shouldn’t in-​house, paying customers get priority? Also, it’s pet friendly but there’s no designated place with grass to take pets. And I could find only one trash can for the poop bag (right next to the lobby door). That can was full and I’m sure my dogs poo is not the first smell you want guests to encounter. But hey, it’s a clean room.

After nine days of travel, we are glad we spent the extra $ 20 and stayed here. It was so comfortable, clean, and everyone was very nice! The breakfast was wonderful with a wide range of options from oatmeal, to croissants, to eggs and sausage! Did i mention croissants? Definitely give them a shot. We were glad the other hotel was full!

I love this hotel! The décor is so modern and fresh feeling! Love the separate bath areas… got a nice mountain view… below wasn’t the prettiest but, quiet and clean. We will definitely stay again if ever needed! Great hotel for the price!

Incredible customer service, great rooms. We had two queen beds for 3 of us (which were so comfy by the way), the room was nice because they had a separate room for the shower and then a separate room for the bathroom/​sink, so we were all able to get ready quickly in the morning before heading off to the Grand Canyon! There was a refrigerator in the room which was great to store left overs from our huge dinner at Rednecks Southern Pit BBQ! We are so glad we stayed for the complimentary breakfast here because it was AMAZING!

Excellent front desk assistance. Helped us find a really good mexican restaurant. Pool is clean and open till 11 pm, plus the water is warm. Rooms are in brand new condition with toilet separated, almost 1.5 bathrooms in each room. Free continental breakfast.

Stayed for one night the rooms are clean and big! Loved the separate couch/​office sitting area for sitting and eating. The front desk was very helpful. There is free breakfast and it was a great spread! We will definitely stay again.

I ran into a torrential downpour and flash flood watch on the way from Phoenix to Vegas. I made reservations from the highway on my smartphone for the same night. THE cleanest hotel and nicest staff! The hours for the amenities are VERY generous. Pool open until 11:00 pm, 24 hr fitness center, free breakfast 6:00 — 10:00. The lobby is modern and spa-​like. The décor in the suites was relaxing and fresh. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, especially the lady who did breakfast. She had fresh strawberries, baby spinach, salsa, and grated cheese for the eggs and oatmeal with all the toppings. I felt the hotel really cared for our health and well-​being. It was a true pleasure. I was exhausted so they let me have a late check out do that I could rest. Love Marriott and this hotel is at the top for service, upkeep, and beauty.

The room was missing a chair which was awkward on the corner. Bathrooms and bed were clean but the carpets and couch had stains. I alerted the staff. They apologized but seemed indifferent. I was told they were updating the room but there was no offer to adjust our rate. The only plus here is that they allow our pets and were very nice about it. I would give them 2 stats but the pets gave them an extra one.

This was by far and away the best hotel I stayed at out of the 3 I visited along Interstate 40. The check-​in guy was super helpful and friendly, my room was clean and new, with a bright, modern look to it, and breakfast was delicious. They even had hot food like ham and eggs available, all for free. The wi-​fi was good enough to stream full movies on Netflix. Check-​out was a breeze and the pet fee here is pretty reasonable.
The only bad things were the A/​C would not get below 73 degrees (I had it set to 68) and there was no attached restaurant. But those are both forgivable, since it was 104 outside and there were plenty of other restaurant options in the area. I was just too tired when I got there to bother going out again.

Worked fine for my husband and me for overnight stay on a road trip last month. The place is relatively new and we had a free night via rewards program. But several odd things here would lead us to look at competitors if we are in Kingman again. Good enough though if the price is right and your stay is short.
GOOD THINGS:
LOCATION: convenient to freeway and downtown Kingman, such as it is, both.
NEWISH: Newer infrastructure means things work as they should.
FRIDGES: in room, with freezer compartments, come in handy.
WIFI: Free and fast enough.
NIGHT STAFF: Friendly night time desk staff.
BREAKFAST: Free and had fresh fruit and yogurt options that worked for us.
COULD BE BETTER THINGS:
BATHROOMS: Layout was just odd. Just about a yard from the foot of the King bed in our King suite was a water closet (toilet room) that was separated by a sliding (barn door style not pocket door style) diffused glass door. If you’ve been married for 32 years, as we have, there are no surprises. But not a great set up for privacy for many, I imagine. Further, while I liked the shower only format of the separate shower and sink room, the odd circular lighting insert at the mirror made putting on make up tough… in particular since I’m only 5’4″. To «hit the bullseye» for a clear view through the middle of the mirror lighting, I’d say you’d be best at 5’6″ and up.
WALLS: Are thin it seems for sound from hallways and next door. But once post 11p rolled around, things were quiet.
STAFF: Aloof, indifferent service from (both) desk staff at late afternoon check in. Not consistent with our Marriott experiences elsewhere. In fact, although Springhill isn’t our fav of Marriott properties, the staff at the one in Austin TX sets a high customer service excellence bar. These folks could learn from those folks.
«BUSINESS CENTER»: Since Springhill Suites is a format that draws biz folks on extended visits, interesting to note how inadequate this was. (Although, really, who doesn’t travel with laptop or tablet these days?) First it in the open in a hall alcove. Second it was out of compliance with ADA in that both of the two computers in it were set on high counters which would make access impossible for a wheelchair user or a little person who couldn’t climb on to the bar height stools offered as seating. That needs fixing. The ADA is 23 years old, this is a new building, they can’t say they don’t know better.
THIS N THAT:
There is a great little wine bar with music some nights and a few limited eats in downtown Kingman and well worth a stop in if you’re looking for something to do in the evening. We spent a couple of hours there sipping and listening (jazz on the night of our visit) and recommend it. The Cellar Door.
