Ross C. Heim has been practicing law since 1977. He began his career at The Northern Trust Company where he rose to Assistant Tax Counsel, developing expertise in estate and fiduciary taxation. Mr. Heim joined Layfer, Cohen, Handelsman & Mora, Ltd., a small law firm specializing in estate planning, probate, guardianships and related fields. In 1987 Mr. Heim formed his own practice, concentrating in the same fields but also developing expertise in real estate transactions, business succession planning and tax audits.

Mr. Heim was elected to the District 128 (Libertyvillle/​Vernon Hills) High School Board and has served on the boards of The College of Lake County Foundation, the Libertyville Village Band, and the Sioux Federation of Indian Princesses & Guides. Mr. Heim was a board member of Lawyers for the Creative Arts, enabling him to help develop and assist various arts organizations in the Chicago area.

History

Established in 1987.

Formerly Assistant Tax Counsel of The Northern Trust Company, in 1979 Mr. Heim joined a small boutique law firm in Chicago specializing in estate planning and probate and trust administration. In 1987 when the senior partners of the firm decided to part, Mr. Heim opened his own firm in Libertyville, and has been practicing in Lake County ever since.

Ross Heim began his career after graduating from Michigan State University as a mathematics teacher. Six years later he chose to attend Syracuse University where he was awarded both MBA and JD degrees. Mr. Heim is an avid amateur musician (French horn) who has performed with various groups in the greater Chicago area.
