This would have been a five star review but I was OVERCHARGED! This place was recommended by my neighbor who gets her pedicures there. I scheduled an appointment and brought my hanai niece as I had scheduled an appointment for her for a manicure. I opted for a deluxe pedicure due to my feet being ragged from being in slippas all the time. Cost $ 50. I do have to say this was the best pedicure I have ever had. Everything seemed clean, the massage was amazing, my feet were really smooth. They have pedi chairs with massage. While my feet were in the hot wax she offered a hand and arm massage. It was great too. However, when I checked out she charged me $ 65. I guess the extra $ 15 was for the massage. I was not happy about that but just blew it off while I was in there because I did get good service. My niece and I both got nail art which was like $ 6 extra each. I might go back (going to try a few other places to determine which is MY new pedi place) but I would be very clear on charges before and during services.
Another critique… the overhead fluorescent light is really bright. Please consider switching over to more ambient lighting. It would really change the atmosphere.
And FYI prices are a lot higher here on Maui. I paid $ 18 for a regular pedi on Hawaii Island all the time.

I was referred by a shop employee in Wailea — go where the locals go! High quality work, very clean, and friendly staff! The best mani/​pedi I’ve ever had!

I went there on New Year’s Eve with my wife; we both loved the experience and quality of work.
Outstanding customer service, great staff that has a positive attitude and loves to interact in a fun and casual way with customers. The atmosphere open and fun … like nothing else you experience in other nail salons
Also, the quality of work is fabulous. I had an in-​growing nail that the staff was very careful and meticulous in removing. As for my wife; she had a very cute flower painted on her nails … Very artistic, delicate, cool and beautiful.
Their pricing is perfectly aligned with local cost; a great value.
Highly recommend it!

Before I write about my experience there, let me start off the review by saying that I was KICKED OUT of the salon because I asked them where their cosmetology licenses/​permits were; (which weren’t showing anywhere in the salon) to which they REFUSED to show them to me. Also, the man who started working on my nails, kept bad mouthing the previous place I got them done at, who is actually my friend and runs her own salon in California.
I asked him to please stop «talking crap» about my nails, and he didn’t. At this point I told him I felt very uncomfortable, to which he said nothing and continued to work on my nails, VERY ROUGHLY, my cuticles were bleeding after…(also, my APPOINTMENT I made the day before, was at 10am, they started working on my nails at 10:45, AFTER sitting down another walk ins before me!“
He then asked me to wash my hands after my fill, and I politely asked «with gel. Don’t you usually not wash your hands.?»
He then got very snippy with me, and I asked him, «sir, I’m just curious as to what your doing, as a customer don’t I have the Right to ask questions.?»
I’m paying for it, I should right? Well apparently not.
This is where things get interesting. He then tells me how they have been number one in Maui for 2 years, to which I said «that’s great however I still think it’s very rude of you to bad mouth the job my friend,» who owns her own salon, «did. «
He then got so upset he said he didn’t want to finish my nails, however wanted me to pay for it. He had JUST gotten to the part where they put the polish on. I said I wasn’t going to pay for HALF FINISHED NAILS, in my calmest voice, however I told him if he finished it I would happily pay. (This is where I look around and noticed there wasn’t a single license/​permit on those walls, to which I then asked him, where they were?)
Get this, he refuses to show them to me, and says he will finish my nails, BUT I had to pay for them first, THEN he would finish them. I think not. I told him that wasn’t going to happen, and I would like to see his cosmetology license, to which he then kicked me out.
I have been getting my nails done since I was 16, every 2 weeks for practically 10 years, and I have NEVER been treated by any business as rudely as I was there. So please, if you have actually survived reading my review, I hope you heed my warning and steer clear…

Best place on island for a pedicure. Super friendly and everyone is upbeat and happy. I also had the best massage ever. Cynthia! Thank you for making my shoulders stop hurting!

Kim is amazing and did a fantastic job on all my treatments. I did a Brazilian wax and gel mani/​pedi. I upgraded to the paraffin leg and foot treatment and it was worth every penny! I will definitely be back and will request Kim and she made the whole experience relaxing and wonderful. Thank you VIP Nails & Spa :)

I live in kihei and have been to multiple nail salons and this one is by far the BEST! They take their time with you and do an amazing job. If you don’t like what they have done they will change or fix it for you. Also a very relaxing and clean environment which is what I look for in a nail salon. will definitely go back and recommend to friends

Always leave here pleased. They know how to take care of you. Friendly and thorough. My feet are always beat up from my work boots so I always get the deluxe with the hot wax. So worth the extra but the relaxation that comes with it is to die for. When I get the chance it’s a must do. At least once a month thanks again for taking care of me.

Brought some of my bridesmaids and wedding guests here for pre-​wedding pedicures. I’m the bride and we had a total party of five. Everybody was very happy with the work that was done at VIP Nails. my pedicure literally lasted for a month and a half before I even noticed that I needed to get them done again and that’s mainly just because they’re growing out LOL! This is especially amazing because of all the sand and surf my toes experienced on this trip! I would highly recommend VIP!

The owners Derek and Lena are very professional, smart and fun, the place is very clean, and they do amazing work!
Also they train the people that work for them really well, and you always get great service with or without an appointment.

Really disappointing. Went in for basic pedicure and half way through they tell me they charge extra to remove callous with the scrubber. Now I am from California and everywhere I have ever been this is included. Some salons will want to charge you extra for callous removal with a special product buy not just the scrubber.
Also about a 2 minute massage. Very disappointingly.

I will start by saying I’ve never written a Unilocal review until now. I felt compelled to do so after encountering the amazing service by Lina and Derek at VIP Nails. I am new to the area and decided to walk in for a very badly needed mani pedi. Realizing that they were set to close in a half hour, I was prepared to be turned away. Instead I was warmly greeted and quickly seated in a lovely massage chair. I imagine that these two have had a long day and we’re ready to go home, but you could never tell. Even though I was already the last person there beyond their closing time, I was surprised and thankful when Lina asked if I wanted their deluxe pedicure. Lina did an amazing job on my pedicure while Derek matched her skill on my manicure… what an amazing duo! On top of this, they were very genuine with getting to know me and found out I was having a rough go. They gave me some much needed advice and offered very kind words of encouragement. I love this place and would highly recommend to everyone!

Venture out & try them all, & I’m sure you’ll always end up coming back here! I’m all for pampering myself, & being in the service industry also, I have a high level of appreciation for good service. Busy and/​or chaotic, Derrick and staff will most definitely make sure your experience is nothing but enjoyable. This place has definitely earned my loyalty. Looking forward to my biweekly visits as long as I live on this beautiful island!

I have gone to this nail salon several times, always without an appointment, and never an issue… and I have been given the most incredible service each and every time. My pedicures have been some of the best I have ever received and the time they took, I was blown away. Yes the prices are more than what you are used to on the mainland, but remember, you are in Maui, and the rent, the cost of living and the cost of upkeep here is much higher than elsewhere. You have the choice to downgrade any of your services to your liking.
I recommend this salon over any of the other nail salons on the island.

Wow what a difference in service. Haven’t been in for a month and called for my regular gal. The owner states she’s not there anymore, and proceeds to start bashing her for her «personal life». All I want is to set up an appt.
so she asks what I would like to have done (because I have witnessed her overcharging before). Since Kim isn’t there anymore, my «new» price is now $ 15 more than I have ever paid before. I told her this didn’t sound right to me.
So when an owner says «this is my business and I can so whatever I want» — you know they are not about their local regular customers.
Learn how to be polite to kama’aina and made your retention rate will be much higher.

I’ve received manicures, pedicures, brow wax, and facials from here — all were great! Cathy is a wonderful esthetician and has a great touch — my face feels so much better after our session and I cannot wait to go back for a follow up visit.
I am very picky about my mani/​pedis and this place does not disappoint. Wonderful smells of lemongrass helped me relax, and the tubs are very clean. I get the deluxe pedi and it’s worth the extra $$ for the massage and paraffin wax. The polish lasts on my toes for at least 3 weeks, and I’m at the beach 2 – 3 days a week, so I’m impressed!
Everyone there is really nice. The owner and wife are really sweet. I typically walk in and am seated right away, but they do get busy. Their prices are reasonable, and I believe they prefer cash for tips, rather than adding to the CC.

Stopped by for a last minute gel manicure and pedicure and they were nice enough to fit me in even though I was super early for my appointment.
The pedicure is pretty good. So far, it’s survived almost two weeks of sun, sand and swimming and it still looks nice. They do a really good job with the pedicures here.
Also got an OPI color gel manicure which has lasted longer than a manicure — but hasn’t held up as well compared to some other nail places I’ve been to. Don’t get me wrong — they did a good job and I have been pretty hard on my manicure these past few weeks, I’m just used to the gel lasting a bit longer considering the $ 40 price tag on the gel.
All in all it was a nice experience — the nail techs there are very nice and gentle on your nails. I would go back here for a pedicure, but would probably opt for a regular manicure instead of the gel.
