If you want to rent from a great company –reserve your car here. It’s like family Clean and dependable Jeep for 10 days was $ 856. You do need to wait for the van — by the city bus pickup. Michael, our driver from the airport, was funny and very helpful. We got to Kihei — only a short drive from the airport. It was local supper time for the kitties, and we got to pet a few of them.
On our return our check in was a breeze, and we reluctantly boarded the bus to the airport to leave.

This company is the best, I was in a rush in looking for a car twice this week and they helped me and were really nice, with no problems, their names are Manu, Arlene they are the best. Make sure and talk to them.

Cars are cheap, but mechanically questionable. This really put a damper on our week long stay. We traded in our first car for a better one, but the car was filthy, I finally took it to a car wash because I could not stand it. I would not repeat this experience

Great and inexpensive car rental company. They offer very inexpensive rentals compared to the big companies, by using older vehicles, and not being located at Kahului. They do however offer a shuttle. They definitely do not make you feel like your being scammed the way the big companies do with their add on charges. The quote offered to me when i spoke to them on the phone was the same thing i was charged. They also have great customer service.

Rented from here on three separate trips, they’ve been great every time. Prompt pickup from the airport, friendly employees, great prices. The cars aren’t new or in perfect condition, but everything works and they’ve always been clean. They are flexible, too. Went in one day to try a jeep out, they swapped for the original car and we were out the door. They also have a ton of cats around their building, too, so its always fun to watch them and scratch a few behind the ear while we wait.

Love it!!! Please keep the old jeeps!!! Have used them every time we come to Maui and don’t plan on changing that!!!

Good customer service, have decent prices but, my god our car was a mess! I understand that we are getting an inexpensive car but I really dont know how safe we were. we had to drive the car back at night time and the headlights barely worked, felt like the wind was going to blow us off the cliff. I think they need to get rid of some of their really old cars. Its not worth it to put people in danger for a good deal.

Best deals in the area! Nissan Sentra 2013 is the car to get especially because of the gas consumption! 5 days of driving and only on loaded the car with gas before we returned it!

Overall a great experience with everything! We thought that renting a car in the area would be pricy but we got great deals here. We rented the car for 3 days and further extended it another day and didn’t hurt our wallets as we were 3 college kids splitting it.
If you ever find yourself renting a car here get he 2013 Nissan Sentra. Perfect car to have and drive around the entire island and it’s so efficient on gas. We didn’t need to stop for gas until right before returning it and we drove around a lot!!!
I’ll end it with their great customer service and the great feel of a family owned business. They also offer shuttles to the airport after you return your car with prices lower than über and local taxis.

Great service and even better prices. I literally walked in and 10 minutes later was driving off the lot ready to explore Maui. The most stress-​free experience I’ve had at a car rental location. Thank you!

Quick pick up from the airport. The girl who picked us up was very nice and pointed out places along the way back to the office. the car we got was what I had ordered, a 2011 Nissan (maybe a sentra). it wasn’t in perfect condition, which was good. We weren’t worried about getting the car a bit sandy or muddy with our trips to the beach or our road to Hana. Everything worked, the AC. the CD player, etc. They even were having a discounted «sale» price when I was there!!! I would definately use them again and recommend them to other travelers.

Hands down, the place to rent a car on Maui. The best prices, by far. Customer service is excellent and they offer a shuttle to the airport. Stop looking and rent your car here!

Renting from them was incredibly fast, friendly, hassle-​free, and very reasonably priced, especially when I didn’t have a reservation. They did not harass me about purchasing the overpriced insurance, which is the norm with car rental companies. The amount of time it took from stepping onto the Enterprise shuttle to stepping into our rental car was about 20 minutes! The Hyndai Sonata we got was clean, the AC works great, and it runs great. I will absolutely rent from this Enterprise next time I come to Maui.

Had my car break down on a Friday. Called these folks up on Saturday morning and they picked me up from my apartment within 20m of many reservation. Rented a Nissan Sentra. Clean, no complaints. Prompt service with friendly folks. I recommend to anyone in the Kihei area.

We needed a rental car for the day, but didn’t want to spend a fortune. We also needed 2 car seats and other companies charge for them. Not Kihei rent a car!
The prices are great! They have a shuttle that picks up and drops you off! And the car seats were free!
No hassles, great customer service, and an all around good experience.

I’ve rented twice from this company. A Jeep in March for the road to Hana, and a car this week for local travel. The people are very nice! The cars/​Jeeps are old and my Sentra had 130,000 miles on it but it ran beautifully and everything worked.
I will rent from them again and highly recommend. Four days for $ 105.

Best experience I’ve ever had renting a vehicle. They gave us a couple different options renting a wrangler and we opted for the «rugged”-style wrangler. It was a higher mileage model with no frills — awesome and only $ 50. We took it for a day trip to Hana and it was perfect. Only thing was that we got held up living the dream and ended up sliding back into the parking lot just as the closing bell rang. No worries, they charged us $ 5/​hour for each hour we were late and didn’t give us any grief. To boot, they still gave us a shuttle ride back to our resort after they were supposed to be closed. Here’s the kicker, this amazing guy, Mike, gave us a ride home and even made a beer stop on the way. He didn’t drink with us of course, not that we didn’t offer, he’s much too professional for that.
At the very least, you HAVE to see if this place has the car you want. If not, rent from them anyway, they’re that good.

I’m always up for a great value and whenever I can use a local business rather than an overpriced corporate conglomerate — I’m in. Kihei Rent a Car has been my best kept secret for over 10 years now. Unfortunately I keep telling everybody I meet. And whenever I hear that somebody is going to Maui — I pull out my phone and give them their number. I have literally saved thousands of dollars by renting from them over the others over the years.
If you don’t mind blending in, looking like a native instead of a tourist, and driving a car that’s a little older (like 2 to 5 years older) then this is ABSOLUTELY the place for you. And you’ll save hundreds of dollars all while supporting the LOCAL economy!
They have an awesome system, when you land while still in the plane, you call them. By the time you get your bags to the curb, they are there with their unmistakable solid black van (I know, black in Hawaii?). But not to worry, the AC is blasting and you might even get the driver to play Hawaiian music for you while you are escorted to the back side of Kihei (about 20 to 30 minutes) where your car is waiting for you!
No impossibly long lines waiting in the sun like the other places. No, you are greeted with the friendliest of staff and their mascot, a beautiful tiger tabby cat that thinks you are there to pet him before you get to your vacation.
Oh and even if you bring the car back with sand in the trunk, they don’t charge you ANYTHING extra! Gotta love Kihei Rent a Car, even if you are not staying in Kihei. It’s a solid 5 STARS from me and my entire family!

The staff at Kihei Car Rental left a positive impression during our visit to Maui.
Due to unforeseeable events, our vehicle became unusable. When we arrived to back to the shop after being towed, the staff was understanding, accommodating and helpful. We were asked if we were okay; we were offered transportation to the nearest grocery store and we were briefed on the process of getting everything situated.
We were taken back to our condo and were expeditiously given a second vehicle the following day, which allowed us to continue our vacation without a hitch (another one).
The staff also provided us with all the documents needed to complete the case file.

I initially made a reservations to the Kihei rent-​a-​car because of these Unilocal reviews and I was pleasantly surprised how great of a company this is. They are by far the cheapest rental service I found in Maui. Upon arrival to the OGG airport I immediately called Kihei rent-​a-​car to get the shuttle service to get picked up. But they were already waiting for me and I didn’t have to wait for the ~25 minutes that they tell you in their confirmation email. We were driven to Kihei (obviously) and was given my the car that I ordered which was the 2004 Nissan Sentra. Everything was how much I planned to spend and there were no hidden fees.
Now to the car, since I did drive an older car it was pretty beat up. My girlfriend and I didn’t mind because we expected the vehicle to be in this condition. As long as we felt safe driving it we felt fine going around Kihei and Wailea with it. The air conditioning worked, radio and the vehicle ran fine, especially in HI where you don’t drive over 60 mph anyways.
The car was imperfectly perfect. We even named her Beulah. It had its dings and dents and I didn’t worry about making sure it was in pristine condition. The company even informed us of this. Also, it fit in perfectly with all the locals. Going around Maui I felt like we blended in. You knew people were tourists and they stuck out like a sore thumb driving mustang convertibles. EVERYONE at our hotel drove either a mustang or a jeep.
The main reason I wanted to use this rental service is that they are already on the opposite side of the island. For those that are on the Wailea/​Makena side I would suggest using them as a rental service. With gas in the upwards of $ 4.50, driving 3 – 4 miles to Kihei rent-​a-​car and then having them driving you to the airport which is ~20+ miles away can really save you some $$.
