History
Established in 1964.
After Hemingway’s death in 1961 the home took on a three year rest and renovation period and opened as a museum in 1964.
The original builder and owner, Asa Tift constructed the home starting in 1849 and completed it in 1851.
It is a National Historic Landmark, Literary Landmark and recognized by the Library of Congress for its importance in United States History.
