We are a boutique small breed doggie daycare, dog boarding and training facility located right here in Key Biscayne. Our indoor and outdoor facility is unique since we focus on maintaining and conditioning obedience while your dogs are playing in the daycare. We are Miami’s only small breed facility, where like size dogs can play with each other comfortably and safely. Our small size allows for personalized attention for all dogs and the ability to do many activities. You no longer have to feel guilty leaving your dog bored at home during the day.

Planning a vacation with the family and can’t take your furry family member? Not a problem, our cage-​free and positive environment will allow both you and your dog to enjoy the holiday season. Let them play among their friends, learn new behaviors, and release excess energy so when you come home tired from a long day at work, so will your dog.

As a life-​long Key Biscayne resident, certified professional dog trainer and dog owner, I understand the undesired behaviors that come with dogs being home alone (i.e. excess barking, neighbors complaining, dogs chewing on your sofa, eliminating in the house, separation anxiety etc.) Don’t worry any longer! Your Good Dog will be their home away from home.

History

Established in 2013.

Our daycare and boarding facility is custom made for small breeds. We developed this concept so small dogs, perhaps that may never have been away from the family, has a safe, friendly, inviting and stressfree environment. Our concept is to provide your precious dog with a «at home» feeling. We created an indoor and outdoor area all accessible so your dog can roam naturally in our playroom or in our garden.

I started this business because pet care is changing. It’s no longer accepted to keep our furry family members in cages with minimal contact. Dogs need socialization, attention, comfort and most of all human contact. I want dogs to think they are visiting a friends house not a boarding facility. I have a 7 pound pampered Morkie and he is the reason why we opened and why we maintain such a high standard for small breed dog care.

Meet the Business Owner

Alexa H.

Business Owner

Alexa was born on the Ilkley Moors in Yorkshire, England, and raised on a small island 10 minutes East of Miami, Florida. Like most young girls, she had aspirations of being a dolphin trainer and focused her attention on Marine Biology. Alexa graduated from Southern Methodist University in Biology and received her master degree from NOVA Southeastern University in Marine Biology. While writing her masters Thesis she interned at Miami Seaquarium (MSQ) as a Marine Mammal Trainer. After being hired on as an apprentice trainer she worked hands on with sea lions and seals using operant conditioning. After a year, Alexa was promoted to an assistant trainer and moved over to the Flipper Lagoon and Whale Stadium to focus her expertise on dolphins and the killer whale. After a final promotion to a Trainer level, Alexa left MSQ after 5 years and ventured off on her own. She started Key Biscayne Pet Training and has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of owners and their furry friends.
