My girlfriend went in. No attention whatsoever. Like she didnt exist but she took her business to Giorgios down the block where they treat people the right way.

Let me start off by saying that I am not exaggerating when I say I’ve had about the BEST-​EST (if that’s even a word) experience today at selfie styles. I don’t DO salons so I did lots of research before even coming and I don’t regret it all. Nancy, the wonderful woman who did my hair was AWESOME! These reviews don’t lie!
. I’m not going to lie I was super scared to have anyone touch my hair, so I came almost an hour earlier than my appointment just to observe and I would of had just about anyone of them do my hair. I left a happy customer from a hair salon. At last! Definitely will be returning :) thank you guys!

Selfie Style is a wonderful salon! My stylist is Nancy and she is Fantastic! She colored my hair and I am so happy with the results! It was just what I wanted. You are in good hands with Nancy and her personality is so uplifting. She makes you feel right at home. The salon atmosphere is beautiful and inviting. Everyone is welcoming and friendly as soon as you walk in the door. Michael is also very nice, as well as Lucy, Gladys and the entire staff. I highly recommend Selfie Style!

I love the hairdresser Tamara and will follow her to the end of the earth. Lucky for me she can be found at the selfie style salon. She completely changed my look with color cut and blow dry. I never wait long for an appointment and she transforms me every time. If you have not had your hair blown out by this woman you have not lived!

I feel at home when I get my hair done at Selfie Style. I’m always welcomed warmly by all of the staff. I’ve been a client of Michael’s for over 10 years and look amazing every time he does my hair. This is a true hidden gem in Kew Gardens!

Let me preface this review by saying that everyone at Selfie Style was nothing short of polite and accommodating. I wish that I could give a higher rating but, in truth, I was left with a hair color that makes me want to cry when I see myself in the mirror.
I came in on Saturday the 28^th with a mission: I wanted to get my bleached, highlighted blonde hair in line with my root color («A dirty ash blonde,» the stylist asserted looking at my roots. This surprised me because my natural hair has always been a light/​medium brown, but I figured, they’re the experts) I showed a couple of photos to my stylist, Camilo, of hair color I liked. They were all light to medium brown and had a balayage-​y, soft highlight effect going on. I also showed a photo of what I absolutely did NOT want: chunks of blonde left over pooling at the ends, like an ombré. I said, «I want hair that is undoubtedly brown, not half brown half blonde, just brown with some highlight.»
Here is probably where we went wrong: I said, «I just want it like this but not sure whether to go warm or cool, and I don’t want it to look weird with my roots growing out.» Camilo said we’re going to do a chocolate-​y color because it’ll add warmth without looking coppery. We were going to leave some of the highlight in.
Satisfied with the game plan, he applied the dye and we chatted away. When it came time to wash out the color and style the hair, I was getting nervous. I had to remove my glasses for the entire process and was just now seeing how dark the result was, but told myself it was probably because my hair was wet. Camilo styled it into a beautiful, bouncy bob. It was so very soft and full of life, but all I could say was, «Why is it black?» He assured me it wasn’t black, it was a brown that blended in with my roots. He handed me a mirror to take a look at the back. The cut was great, much better than what I had walked in with, but I thought I saw a blonde chunk on the back of the head. When I pointed it out, Camilo assured me it was just because of how the hair was laying. «Okay,» I figured. Maybe it was just the lighting. The sun had already gone down. I felt the swift pang of disappointment in the pit of my stomach but paid ($ 120 for the haircut, dye, Olaplex, and tax for using a credit card) and left a tip. I caught an Über home.
The first thing my legally blind mother said to me was, «Why is your hair BLACK? What is on the back of your head?» I ran to inspect in my room. Sure enough, among very dark tresses, was a very obvious, very random blonde chunk. I called the salon back and said that I was coming back because I needed this chunk removed. «Of course, come right back in.» Camilo was polite as ever, without a hint of annoyance in his voice. «I will make time for you.»
I returned to the salon and he fixed up the chunk at the sink. I said I didn’t want another blow-​out because I was just going straight home, but he insisted to at least dry without styling because it was raining outside and he didn’t want me to get sick. I was offered coffee multiple times during each visit. All in all, the staff was great and so kind. I was happy that he devoted time to me, but, the more I look at my hair, the more horrified I am at how dark it turned out. I don’t understand how such a miscommunication could have happened when I came prepared with so many photos. I know that blonde hair really drinks in the dye, which is why I went to a professional salon instead of dyeing it out of the box myself. But the result that I got, well … I haven’t had hair this dark since a fourteen year old «goth» me decided to dye my own hair blue-​black.
I feel devastated every time I see myself and it’s not because I was previously blonde (I only had the blonde for about two months after having my natural color the majority of my life). It’s just so stark against my skin, so different from what I had envisioned going in, and I feel really dumb for paying so much for something so different from what I had wanted. I feel like I’m stuck with this hair and can’t even begin to think of how to fix it without completely frying it.
The roundup: Wonderful, considerate staff; extremely personable stylist; end result of hair makes me want to die inside.

I really love this Salon! The people, the vibe. Nancy is a doll. Rosa gives you a great Mani/​Pedi. Yesterday I spent most of the day with them, Mike was cleaning all over, even the walls when I walked in at 9:45 am. Great friendly spot!
Then of course my hair stylist of over ten years has moved and works there now, Tamara. Tamara is the best hair stylist I have ever had. I must admit, over this long period of time I have strayed, tried different stylists but I always come back to her. She has a deep understanding and relationship with my hair. It (my hair) obeys her-​a rare thing. She is like a trainer, knows how to tame the beast. If you have curly or ethnic hair, you really need to reach out to Tamara. She is fantastic! Cuts, color, and the best blow out that lasts for days you will ever had. She never rushes, and I am happy each time. What else does a gal or guy need?! If your hair looks good, you feel amazing!

Got my hair done today by Nancy. She was very sweet and professional. I did my hair it came out amazing. She was a pleasure to talk to and did my hair exact how I wanted it to come out. Will revisit! Thank you !!

I’m a flight attendant who lives in Kew and heard about this salon through a coworker. I called expecting to have to wait to book an appointment but was pleasantly surprised when they said they could accommodate me the same day! (We flight attendants can never commit to plans in advance, ha!)
My hair was mid back length, straight, one dimensional and pretty boring. I requested a trim and some long face framing layers as well as a golden highlight. Nancy did a great job and was a pleasure to talk to! Most of all this place is very affordable, with tip I only paid $ 125! Will definitely be going back! :)

I’m a fairly new client to «Selfie style», after leaving my previous salon due to the fact I would have to wait nearly weeks for an appointment! It was very easy to get an appointment scheduled here.
My stylist Lucy, is absolutely wonderful! She’s very enthusiastic about her work and knew exactly the look I was aiming for. My curly unruly hair, was in the best hands! Her coloring is amazing! I found my new stylist :)

I saw the great Unilocal reviews for this salon and was excited to try it out. I brought two pictures of the very simple cut I wanted (above the shoulders and all one length — NO layering and no bangs) and showed them both to Nancy when I got there. She was super sweet and fun to talk to, but unfortunately she didn’t pay attention to what I asked for or the pictures I showed her. She blowed dried and curled my hair after the cut, but when I got home and straightened it the way I wanted it, I realized my hair was longer on the left side than the right, she chopped my side bangs which take forever to grow, and the hair in the back was about 2 inches longer than the rest. Basically it was a layered chopped up mess. I would’ve gone back and asked her to fix it, but I don’t live in New York and won’t be there for a long while. I tried to fix it myself but ultimately ended up going to supercuts to have it evened out properly.
I’ve heard great things from people with long hair who like old fashioned layers, but I definitely do not advise going to Nancy for a bob or hair that is all one length.

Not only was this was my first time in Selfie Style, it was also my first time getting my hair colored. I was a bit nervous going in but Lucy is so friendly that she immediately made me feel welcomed. You can tell right off the bat that she and the rest of the Selfie team love what they do.
I showed Lucy some pictures of balayage I liked, so she knew right away what I wanted and what would look good on my hair. She went above and beyond to make me comfortable and her enthusiasm for my new look was contagious. By the time she finished the blowout, I had received quite a few compliments on my new hair color, and I hadn’t even walked out of the salon yet!
I will definitely be going back to Selfie when I decide to change up my look again.

I have been going to hair stylist and co-​owner of Selfie Style, Michael, for over 10 years. He grew up with my parents and has fostered a deep relationship with my entire family, even my grandma. Since moving into Manhattan, I have tried about 4 different local hair dressers, but none were as skilled as Michael. I now travel approximately 40 minutes out to Queens just to get a good «Michael cut.»
Not only is he talented and works to give you the best style for your unique hair, but also he is an amazing and genuine guy who will make you feel comfortable in his chair.
Over the 10 years that I have been going to Michael, I have brought him many different magazine cutouts and said «make me look like that.» From frosted tips, to high and tight, to slicked back suave, Michael has done it all for me. Not only was he able to give me these cuts, but also no matter how odd some of them were, he advised me on the best way to alter the style to fit my hair and facial structure as well as how to maintain and style after the cut.

The salon is super clean, the staff is excellent and the work done is of high quality.
I have been going to Nancy for over 10 years and the results are ALWAYS fantastic .
Nancy was responsible for making me look absolutely stunning on my wedding day. I got many compliments and the photos came out beautifully. She was on time, fun and a joy to be with, in what can be a stressful day. You will not be disappointed with the service from Selfie Style. I highly recommend it.

For starters, the place was very clean, trendy with cute décor, and very reasonably priced. Got an ombré and hair cut by Lucy. She did an AMAZING job. This is honestly the best cut and dye job I have ever gotten. I am from New Jersey and will definitely be back here as a regular customer. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. :)

I have had my hair cut here in April by Nancy. She did a really amazing job! I love her personable style & skills — she’s a real people person & so easy to work with; she really listens to what you want and works with you to give you the best experience. I’m seeing her again tomorrow for some face framing highlights and a cut; I cannot wait to see what she does! Prices are good, too. I have found my new favorite salon within walking distance of my home!
I have gone for manicures & pedicures, too. Tara is very good and always does a great job on my nails.

I booked my appointment one week ago with Nancy. I was so nervous as I wanted a cut, but my old stylist (who is affiliated with Nancy) had just moved away. Can I just say Nancy has the best personality– she’s so happy and upbeat and just a pleasant person. She did an amazing job with my hair. She took her time and did exactly what I wanted and needed to be done to my hair. She’s worth every penny! Love my hair! The salon is clean and bright and can be easily found. The staff is friendly and helpful. They offered me a drink and sandwich in this particular day! Seriously? :)

Beautiful salon with awesome customer service! Great stylist’s and color experts! Nancy is my go to stylist. I’ve been seeing her forever although everyone there is great. You won’t be disappointed. Give Selfie Style a try.

I am happy with my hair every time I walk out. Nancy is amazing and she out does herself every time. I can’t wait to see what she does with my hair next and I never have to worry because she is so careful to not damage my hair. Love this place!
