This old wrinkled blonde women in her 60’s is so nasty! She claimed to the the owner and I know she is not! A beautiful girl in her late 20’s owns the place! This women is toxic!

Employee there seems inept, and has poor customer service skills. Facility seems «ok», but the prices are way too high. I don’t recommend this business.

Solar Planet is great. The staffing is really great, and I like that I don’t have to pay an arm and a leg just to stand in front of a light bulb. The salon has numerous options, and the employees all know me by name. Definitely recommend.

The place is clean and neat like many other tanning salons I’ve been to. The owner is friendly enough. The airbrush spray on came out beautifully. I got many compliments. You have to moisturize moisturize moisturize to keep the tan from fading quickly

Great tans in a quiet location. It’s rarely busy and I sometimes have to wait for someone to even come to the front desk to check me in.

Arrived at 8:30pm today and they are closed. I rushed from over 30 minutes away after work. No reason why on the door. Not the first time this has happened. If your sign says you close at 9pm and you don’t, fix the hours on the website and sign. Done with this place.

Have been a member of solar planet for ⁷⁄₈ years now and will never return. The Whiteflint location has really gone down hill… New owner is probably one of the most rude/​unprofessional people I have ever spoken with. With having a membership you were able to upgrade bed levels on Fridays at half price. When the owner charged me full price I was surprised. When I told her I have been paying half price for an upgrade on Fridays for over a year she said I was lying and gave me tons of attitude. I’m guessing the weekly specials changed when new ownership took over… probably would have been a little more professional to explain that rather than accusing a customer of lying… Very appaling that the owner of a business would speak to a paying customer like this. She probably should have communicated with the person that usually works on Fridays rather than get an attitude with a customer.
Beds have burnt out bulbs pretty frequently and not to mention the fans don’t work on one of the most expensive higher level beds… Recently went to Palm Beach tan around the corner and the beds are a lot better and you’re provided with a clean towel and protective eye wear. Front desk workers were so friendly and helpful. I will pay extra for higher quality beds and service with a smile!

I came here with a Groupon to get a pH Balance Prep Spray and Airbrush Tan before my vacation to Miami. When I walked in, the receptionist greeted me and was friendly. I had to fill out the standard paperwork since I’d never been there. I’ve had spray tans before but usually stick to Versa Spa since I’m always happy with my results and know what to expect. What I didn’t like about this place is the location of the spray tan room. Since I was going on vacation in Miami and knew I’d be wearing different bathing suits, I wanted to have my spray tan done topless. The woman showed me to the spray tan room which was the first room in the place and RIGHT next to the front door/​waiting area/​receptionist desk with a flimsy door. When the woman left I got undressed and waited a bit for her since she was helping other customers. When she entered and left the room, she wasn’t extremely discreet when opening and closing the door, which made me a little uncomfortable. Luckily no one was walking by at the moment, but if the room was in the back of the shop I think my experience would have been a little more enjoyable and would have made me feel more comfortable. She ended up doing a decent job (typical streaking on the hands that you get when someone does your spray tan), but I probably wouldn’t go back again.

I was a member of solar planet for about 6 months, but had to cancel it bc I moved. This place was affordable, clean, never had any waits and the staff was always nice! I def suggest it :)

Alright so this is the update after i got back from miami (that’s what i got the spray tan for). The airbrush tan lasted for ten days and came of very even.
I followed everything that nice lady told me (no hot showers, lots of moisturizer) and the color looked beautiful until the last day. My friends all complimented me and they couldn’t believe it was «fake».
Even after i washed of the bronzer the color was even and i had no stains like on my hands or feet, elbows or wrists.

I got my first airbrush with a Groupon, but used it at the Tenleytown location. My experience using the Groupon was fanstastic, and I bought a 3-​airbrush package for $ 99.
When I moved to Rockville last year, I came to the White Flint location to use the remainder of my package. I will concede that my experiences at the White Flint location have not been QUITE as good as at Tenleytown, but they have been very good nonetheless. The girls are always very friendly and helpful.
Last week I bought a tanning (UV) package for the first time (I’m SUPER fair-​skinned), and the woman working the front desk was incredibly helpful.
I can’t speak to all the issues raised on here, but as far as customer service goes, I’ve never EVER had an issue.

This tanning salon is friendly and relaxed. I really don’t understand why girls are complaining about the Versa feeling cold… they are spraying tanning FLUID at you, what do you expect?
I’ve been to a million tanning salons and to me they are all the same. You go in, get what you need done, and leave. I am not expecting an «experience,» I just want a little color and that’s what I get.
All-​in-​all, I like this place and will continue to go back.

This location of SP has been very disappointing, so much so that I canceled my membership. For a solid month straight, there were always issues when I went. I work in Rockville, so I (spray) tan, before or after work (as I do not live in the area). It’s quite frustrating to be paying 80 dollars a month to be able to go tan, and not be able to when I get there (be it their system is down or the machine STOPS in the middle of the tan!!) I choose to spray tan, as it seems to be a better choice than lying in the beds. However, there recently have been questions regarding the safety of spray tanning as well and many have recommended the use of nose, lip, and eye protection… None of which they offered. Several times, they didn’t even have hair nets which left me coming up with creative ways to cover my hair with other things. Half of the time they did not even have towels in the room, and once there was no barrier cream. Their Versa Spa also did not provide good coverage, and it didn’t last. I thought this might be the case with all Versas, but I have started tanning elsewhere with much better results (and service!) As much as I loved the first SP location I went to, I could not keep my SP membership and continue to pay the money with all the problems this location was having.

Unlike others, I did not get a deal off of Groupon; I simply went into the store and asked what promotions they had.
I personally had a good experience, they had a 2-​for-​1 UV tanning for a decent price. The woman at the desk was very knowledgeable and she was concerned about my safety. She did not try to «up sell», which is always a plus. She simply laid out the information for me and suggested I not lie in the bed for the full 12 minutes.
It was a very easy, simple ordeal, I was in and out in about 20 minutes. The place was easy to find, there was plenty of parking, and it was clean.

I have the best experiences with Athena and Sabra, my two air brush girls at Solar Planet. I always buy the premium package so I can either choose to use the Ultrabronze or VersaSpa. At first I was really nervous about the Versa, but after reading the pamphlet and following the girls’ detailed instructions, it was so simple and so much better than Mystic. I always use these two girls to also airbrush my body before my photo shoots and pageants. I highly rate their exceptional service, privacy, and their need to satisfy my liking. They really do a great job and I’m so glad I found them, thus they get tipped accordingly. Thank you Solar Planet for these two ladies!

This was a complete waste of my time and money, even though I got it for a deal on Groupon! When I called to set up the appointment a week prior, I was not notified that they had changed locations. I drove to the previous location and couldn’t find them, so I called to ask. The girl that was working there told me that they had relocated, so I asked for the new directions. The directions were completely aloof and vague. I drove around for 30 more minutes looking for the place, after calling back 5 or 6 times to find them. Finally I asked, «Do you have a sign to mark where you’re located?» Her answer didn’t surprise me in the least when I was told «no.» No sign to even find the place! It would have been helpful to know all of this information when I set the appointment.
Eventually I found the place that had a simple «tanning» light in the window, with no indication of Solar Planet. The young girl was extremely rude, even after I apologized.
She continued in the same aloof and rude manner, and didn’t explain much about the whole process.
I couldn’t wait to get out of there, and would’ve cancelled the appointment from the beginning of the experience, had I not already purchased it with Groupon.
Don’t go to White Flint Solar Planet!

I got a Groupon for a $ 25 organic (or something) sunless tanning treatment a couple of weeks ago. I’ve done the sunless tanning thing a couple times before at Ninotch in Bethesda, but that runs $ 50ish so I thought I’d try SP.
Verdict: You get what you pay for.
At Ninotch, a nice lady will «consult» with you and ask what color you’d like, what type of skin do you have, etc. and then you’ll be taken back to a clean, private room with a shelf of creams/​lotions/​shower caps and instructed in detail what you should do. Then after you undress, the same lady will come back in and use clean equipment and mix your custom color solution and then spray you with little «brush strokes» so that there are no streaks or uneven places. It takes a while but you can be sure she’s doing her best to get you the best color application. Color lasts three-​four days, though I probably could have gone darker both times (too nervous!). Ninotch is truly a spa that offers many services, including waxing, massage, etc.
Solar Planet is a tanning salon that happens to offer sunless tanning, both the airbrush and mystic tan machine varieties. The airbrush tanning was clearly an afterthought, as it appears the equipment was (quite literally) thrown into an empty room with a hair dryer. No tables, not even a coat wrack to hang your purse. Once you undress, the 16 year old who works there will spray you in big, long strokes that may or may not overlap, thus leaving greater possibility for streaks. I asked her what color she should use for my skin and she told me that Groupon only lets you use the lightest color. For me, this wasn’t a big deal as I’m fair-​skinned but if you’re even a bit tan, I think it may not be dark enough for you. The entire process lasts five minutes, not including dressing/​undressing.
SP turned out fine, though my legs were a bit uneven in application (you really could see the line between the «brush strokes») but it wasn’t too noticeable. The color looked great the next day but was competely gone after two days (I got the treatment Thurs at 7pm, didn’t shower until noon Friday. Color was gone Saturday). The pool really does wash away the color, not a big shock.
So, the Groupon was kinda worth the deal, but only for fair-​skinned people. I would have much rather gone to Ninotch in the end.
