I have taken group lessons with Pete. AWESOME! My friends who have lots more experience playing the guitar have taken private lessons and love it!

I joined Pete’s Intro to Slide guitar class at Freight & Salvage and it was awesome! Pete carefully explains the basics and always has time to answer your questions. I wish there was an advanced slide guitar class as well!

Pete is a thoughtful and dynamic teacher — a dictionary of information on fingerstyle and slide blues guitar. I took his class on the CAGED system at Freight and Salvage and it was a good blend of lesson and application. I would recommend Pete’s lessons for anyone looking to improve their playing with an approach that is not overly theoretical but theory-guided.

Pete, Gets his students involved. If you want to expand your knowledge of the guitar and improve your playing ability take a lesson or group lessons from Pete. I have taken 12 lessons in a group setting and plan to take more.

Pete really helped jumpstart my guitar playing career. When you’re starting out you have so many questions that just can’t be answered on the internet — you need an experienced instructor to help you sort out the questions. Pete did that, and set up a course of study with all the right materials that put me on the right track. If you’re looking for a guitar instructor in Albany /Berkeley, Pete’s the man.

Not only is Pete a monster player, he’s an amazing teacher and an all around awesome guy. I’ve taken a few of his classes over at the Freight and Salvage as well as bi-weekly private lessons – both of which I can’t recommend enough. Pete’s really patient and has a great sense of humor. He doesn’t have an agenda, I’ve show up asking him to show me everything from funk, to blues, to metal and he’s always delivered. Ask him to write things down, he will… record something, he will, etc. If you’re looking for a guitar teacher you can’t go wrong with Pete.

I took a team blues lesson with Pete a while ago(Grooving the Blues) and enjoyed it a very much. I’m not a complete beginner but not very accomplished. Compared to other teachers I’ve had over the years, I found Pete to be more intuitive, spot on, communicative and interesting. I highly recommend him, either individually or in group settings.

Pete is a fantastic teacher! He’s very patient with beginners, clear and methodical. For more advanced students, Pete brings a wealth of knowledge on technique and lots of advanced songs.

I have been playing and taking lessons from various guitar teachers for about 6 years. Pete is by far the most well rounded instructor I have come onto so far. Very well organized, sends audio clips out and is flexible. Most guitar teachers are pretty INflexible. Pete will help you get to where you want to go. And a super cool person as well. Look no further he is one of the best in, the bay area. Close to BART as well

I’m a beginning guitar player and have been Pete’s student for a few months and wanted to write him up here because I couldn’t imagine having found a better teacher. I tried a few other people before going to Pete and the difference is amazing. While most guitar teachers know how to play, Pete also knows how to teach. He’s great at explaining things, great at showing technique, he sends an audio recording of each lesson to your email address(a HUGE help), and teaches you songs that you want to play. In addition to all this his rates are good and he’s a cool, easy-going, guitar-loving guy. If you’re looking for a good guitar teacher in Berkeley, you’ve found him.
