Paws and Claws Pet Store in Kennett Square is not a big box chain store, we are a small, local, independently owned and operated business that prides ourselves on our dedication to providing

the personal touch for pets and their people! We’ve been under new ownership/​management as of December 2010, so if you haven’t stopped in for awhile, come on by and what makes Paws & Claws so unique!

We specialize in sweet, well-​socialized pet rats and other friendly small mammals, freshwater fish for aquariums, reptiles, amphibians, and select smaller pet birds — often hand fed.

While other stores may sell animals, at Paws and Claws Pet Store we sell pets, and we help you find the pet that is right for you and your family as well as the homes that are right for our pets!

In addition to our pets, we also offer quality pet supplies and special orders, natural and holistic foods for dogs, cats and more, live feeders, and services including grooming, nail and wing clipping, small animal pet-​sitting (birds, small mammals, & reptiles only) and local birthday parties, and animal shows — all at affordable prices — and we’re always happy to answer questions about animals and animal care and to direct you to other places where you can find more help.

Business Owner

George has had a life, long love of animals and people. They also had a vision of running a family business that would connect with and be a valuable part of a community. They really enjoy and believe in the old school, foundational values of a caring community environment. As animal lovers the two also have a passion for educating the general public of animal care, promoting and supporting rescues and carefully matching individuals with pets that realistically match their current and future lifestyle and time demands.
