Awesome place for a foodie who enjoys game yet there were a few vegetarian options. The ambience was nice – we opted to dine in and enjoy the AC but the have a nice upstairs patio.

Visiting from west coast. This place was highly recommended. Oh well!!! Just a disaster from start to finish. TOP incompetency. Our server did not know nothing about the menu. We ordered some mussels as starter. Mussels arrived 1 minute after. Very probably a previous mistake kept in the kitchen to be served all over again. Some mussels were bad, not opened or super small. The bread was awful, old bread not even toasted. That is the least you can do if you have old bread in the kitchen right? The sliced chicken breast on top of my salad super cold and very dry. The dessert, awful as well. Not fresh at all and tasteless. THEICEONTHECAKE. I ordered a second glass of wine. I started to drink the wine. My friend and I stepped out X a few minutes to smoke a cigarette. When we came back our drinks were gone. Our server started to clean our table and our drinks were gone, and we could not find him. I had to tell the bartender about our drinks. By the way the male bartender had disgusting long hair. I could not believe it. So unprofessional. Who owns and manage this place? I will never go back. My advice, take yr money somewhere else. My Honest truth.

We were visiting the area this weekend as part of our wedding anniversary with our kids. We had heard about the restaurant on the food channel and thought we would give it a try. We were seated quickly and everyone was hungry. My wife and I ordered beef burgers and the boys ordered chicken nuggets. After a while I noticed no food had been coming out of the kitchen. But the wait staff was continuously coming from the bar with drinks for the customers. That would have been nice but we don’t drink. After about 40 minutes my wife and sons were very hungry. I asked for some bread and butter. But my wife could not eat it because it was pumpernickel. After about an hour we were getting ready to leave; when we got our food. I don’t think it should have taken so long for this basic food. Hopefully, it was just a bad day at the restaurant. The waitress did apologize for the delay.

The food is really interesting and tasty. ive been really adventerous here: llama, kangaroo, camel, etc. The only thing is that its very expensive, always spend at least 100 for 2 people.

When we arrived at the restaurant we specifically requested booth seating and we were told that the booths were only available to those with reservations. At this time there was only one booth taken. We were seated at a small table in the rear of the restaurant. When we were leaving, we noticed that the same booths as earlier were still empty. Why did we have to deal with a table in the back when there were so many booths available?

A slow Monday night in Kennett, so I had a Yards ESA cask… Creamy and delicious. Venison potstickers and bison tacos were appetizers and I had a garden salad with green goddess dressing and Joey had the bacon wrapped chicken sandwich with cheddar and avocado aioli. He said«dad this sandwich is banging». Our apps, were good… Three tacos with pulled bison… I needed a bit of heat so asked for Sriracha but received Tabasco instead, the little bit of spice took the tacos over the top. The venison potstickers were five dumplings filled with ground meat and spice served on a bed of house fermented kimchi, ginger and soy. The chicken sandwich was served on a large sandwich style English muffin with waffle fries for an extra cost. Our server was attentive enough without being obtrusive, table maintenance was handled with professionalism. Look forward to our next visit.

Crab Nachos(Appetizer): I’ve never been to a place that was so generous with their crab on nachos. This thing is a meal in itself that’s fit to feed two people easily. Crab artichoke salad, black beans, and cheese baked till crispy, and then topped with avocado. I had to stop myself from trying to finish it. Ostrich Burger: When I read the menu I just had to try this. It was the special of the day. Did you know it’s best to have this medium-rare? Well I didn’t…but after eating it, medium-rare is the way to go. The meat was juicy and flavorful. I have no idea what ostrich is supposed to taste like but I hope it tastes just as good as it did when I had this burger. I just had to have a Leinenkugel Summer Shandy. A WI brewed beer in PA? Why not. Well, now I know… NOT. $ 7 for a beer seems like highway robbery to me no matter where it’s from.

If it were possible to give this place negative stars, I would give it a –5. I’ve never written a review on Unilocal, but felt compelled to tonight. I can take bad service and even bad food as long as people are nice and trying. The staff at Half Moon were neither. The vibe was negative and it felt like we annoying them by drinking and spending money in their establishment. It smelled like a frat house, the bartender, waitresses and hostesses were rude and obnoxious and their beer tasted skunky. This is the third time I’ve been there over the past 10 years and it’s gotten progressively worse. I met a bunch of friends for drinks tonight and against my pleading to go anywhere else, they said, «how bad can it be?» We were there less than two hours and everyone in our group of 20 people or more had reported a negative experience with someone working there. I will never go back again. If you’re looking for a restaurant or bar in Kennett Square, go to Taste of Puebla on Broad and Birch. It has much better food and wonderful service!

Went for lunch and got crab nachos based on the raving reviews and they were excellent and plenty for lunch. I got the specialty iced tea which was also excellent. I also returned again and tried various types of game. The buffaloaf and the 13 hour pulled elf were excellent

Good out of the norm food. Service was ok. bathrooms were far too few for the number of patrons. Bison burger was good. Stuffed quail was blah. The elk was okay but one of our 8 plates came out 15 minutes after all of the others which was disappointing.

Disappointing Pros: great pub atmosphere, impressive menu, nice waitress Cons: Sent back the Gumbo, all food looked like it had been under the heat lamp for a while-that thin layer of dryness on top of the foods; yet the plates were cold and the food itself wasn’t hot.

Nice Restaurant in The Center of the village. We ordered the hangar steak — very well done. Delicious. Kobe burger sliders — very good. Ordered the ravioli but I think the steak and the burger were done better than the ravioli. Not bad but no that great to talk about Cheese plate was good. the waitress and other staff were very helpfull. The only and major problem was parking which reminded me of New York

The food is good. I like their exotic menu but the portion size is a bit small. I found myself hungry after lunch which isn’t a good outcome for a not cheap lunch. Will try again.

Came here on Halloween night to watch the World Series. They had some college football on at the bar but we asked for one of the two TVs to be changed. No issue at all from all the female bartenders dressed in their costumers. This place is really rustic and homey. It appears on the older side but still really clean and has a lot of character. Parking is annoying so my advice is to drive a little further down and find a public lot. We had some cocktails off this list; the old buffalo which was strong and the watermelon martini which I didn’t try but the color was perfectly red and green. The beer list is extensive and I resisted ordering any of their beers and stuck to liquor. Ordered gin and tonics, can’t really mess that up after our initial orders. The bartenders are really sweet and attentive here and not just to the regulars. We started to get hungry and had the mushroom appetizer which was amazing! Local mushrooms cooked in a rich sauce with cranberry and walnuts served over baguette slices. It was one of the best things I have ever eaten at a bar!

Very surprised to see Half Moon ranked so low but not after tonight. I need to share as an important note that we go to Half Moon weekly! We called upon leaving our home to understand the wait and was advised at they’re dead and to come on in. Upon arrival that was validated as we saw most booths and ALL tables were open. We asked for a booth and was refused and offered a half booth which accommodates 4 as it is. We were told that because it’s Friday they have to reserve the booths for larger parties. This makes no sense if they were already putting us at a 4 top. We asked for a booth as it’s quieter and farther from bar area. Again, refused. We left and won’t be back for a while due to disappointment. Two stones is already taking a lot of their business. It just got 2 more tonight. This is what happens when teenagers are out in charge of seating and the manager stood from a distance watching as I locked eyes and he didn’t move. What happened to the owners always being on property!

Great location in the small downtown area of Kennett Square that serves wild game(Elk) and interesting entrees(pheasant) along with seasonal favorites(pumpkin ravioli). This two story restaurant has a traditional bar area with TVs to enjoy sports at street level and a decent amount of restaurant seating. They also have an upstairs area that has a smaller bar and more tables with great views of the surrounding areas and glass garage style doors that open during nice weather. Their cheese appetizer plate was abundant and tasty with a solid selection of cheeses, mustard, spicy pickles, baguettes, sliced apples and fruit compotes– thumbs up on this app. My friend enjoyed the pumpkin ravioli which as very tasty but she found the celery to be a slight distraction of the dish. I ordered the Elk that came with grilled baby potatoes and asparagus– both DELICIOUS and with the perfect amount of al dente pop and excellent slight charred grilled flavor! The elk was a good portion size and it was cooked how I ordered it(medium rare) but it was brought to me cold(very disappointing). If served warm, it would’ve been very good. But the temperature was distracting, especially because the sides of this dish were piping hot. Mad props to a place that serves interesting proteins. Our server was friendly and efficient and the beer selection as great. I was disappointed however that they didn’t serve an Oregon Pinot Noir by the glass. How can you serve game and not offer what I consider some of the best burgundy in the world?

Love this place. Framboise with Hoegarten on tap?! Yes please. If you’re into Wild Game, then this is the spot. Buffalo, Alligator, Elk, Kangaroo(haven’t tried because Kangaroos are too cute to eat!) The buffalo bison burger is the last burger I’ve eaten for a reason. It was so incredibly delicious that regular beef bores me. Menu said it was 97% fat free, which is an added bonus! So juicy and flavorful, I’d recommend this dish to anyone. Another staple of Half Moon is their crab nachos. If you like crabs which everyone should besides those with allergies and you like nachos which everyone does… you need to order this immediately. Needless to say Half Moon is lovely. Not cheap, but neither is their product. In my many visits, the bartenders are very attentive, chatty and accommodating. I love this place enough, that I bought a t shirt. 5 stars deserved!

We took shelter here from the rain recently to have a beer and waste some time before a wedding. The selection is good, with a range of options from your cheapo domestic to fancy microbrews. Being beer snobs we sampled a number of the former, both from keg and cask. Prices were reasonable, and Justin, the bartender was just a sweetheart and very attentive. We may or may not have invited him to the wedding we were going to.

I wasn’t ready for Half Moon as I had just been at a friend’s pond and had him grill up some burgers and hot dogs. If I knew I was going to be taken to a place with exotic wild game meats I would have slapped him and thrown the grill in the pond. I wish I had been ferociously hungry because I unfortunately only got to sample the Crab Nachos and Wild Game Sampler(which tonight included kangaroo and elk steaks and Buffalo Sausage). Immediately upon sampling the Crab Nachos I knew exactly what sort of place Half Moon was. The person arranging the menu is not just of high culinary skill, but creative and confident enough to step away from traditional recipes and presentation and serve somethings truly original. The Crab Nachos were loaded with guac, cheese, crab, and everything else and were thoroughly filling. The Wild Game Sampler let me know I will be coming back here next time. While the kangaroo was a tougher meat with little fat it still had enough flavor to make it tasty. The elk, however, was beef squared. I was told it was lean but I don’t see how as the taste of fat and meat juice inundated my senses when biting into it. I will order a 32 oz elk steak if it’s available next time. The Buffalo Sausage was also worth sampling and offered a little variety from the two steaks.
