Cute little place, we went around 10am during the week. We were seated at the first table so we didn’t see the rest of the dining room. The first thing I noticed was the unpleasant smell of the grease trap(maybe it had just been cleaned or needed cleaning) but having worked in restaurants I know that smell — gross. Server was friendly and food didn’t take too long. I had the steak biscuit, I was disappointed that the steak, which the server described as country fried steak, was actually a frozen product so not made in house. The menu is small and they’re only open for breakfast and lunch so I don’t understand why they opt for pre-fab food. Grits were kind of bland the cheese wasn’t melted into them, it was just chunks of American cheese so by the time it melted the grits were kind of cold. My friend had the patty melt biscuit, he said it was tasty but kind of dry. Maybe we caught them on an off day, based on the other reviews so we’ll try again another time. One more note to the owners — please get mugs for the coffee, the paper cups may come free from community coffee but between those and the overuse of styrofoam cups for side dishes you’re not doing the environment any favors.

Awesome breakfast I just tried this place last Saturday and I will be back probably this weekend as me the wife and our daughter all thought the food was great. We got country ham and steak biscuits and loved every bite start to finish. Rofl I have to laugh at some of the reviews saying the ham is salty. This is country ham and is also the way it is supposed to be made. I will not explain the whole thing but back in the day the best way to cure a meat such as this was salt. So country ham is somewhat salty. For those who do not like salt I would suggest the steak or pork tenderloin or sausage biscuits or one of there several other combinations. As for me and mine we do not get it very often as most restaurants only have the store type of ham which I find to be disgusting personally. The only ham to have on a decent biscuit is country ham if they do not have that I will take something else. Next weekend I may try other options but I do not know there ham is completely awesome so I may just have to make it my regular.

Leaving this review on our(at least) 25th trip to the ugly biscuit. Fairly surprised that we have not left a review prior to this trip. Must of slipped my mind. Anyway, there are reasons we’ve been here(at least) 25 times. First, we’ve grown to know just about everyone here. People are friendly and great! It’s not always the fastest service, but no place is ever 100% perfect. Love these guys! Second, we love the food. We are here at least once a weekend and they never let us down. Consistently good! Of course this is our opinion. Yours may vary. But, if somethings not right, tell them. They will make it right!

This was one of the first places my s/o and I tried after moving to the area and quickly became regulars. I’ve not tried one bad thing on the menu, but my favorite had to be the chicken liver and egg biscuit. I grew up on livers, and these are absolutely fantastic. Their biscuits are a decent size(no fast food sandwich here) and a little crunchy on the outside while remaining fluffy throughout. Definitely try out whatever you order with a side of bacon(it’s so smokey!) or potatoes(simple, but fried wth onions and peppers and some of the best I’ve ever had). Service is friendly, but occasionally slow if they get busy as it’s a small place with what I’m sure is a small kitchen… But trust me, it’s well worth the wait.

The staff are very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is cozy and clean. Their health score is 100. Service was fast. The sausage gravy is fantastic. The biscuits and eggs were perfect. The fried chicken filet was the only thing I didn’t like. It was a preformed frozen patty. If it had been a real chicken filet, I would have given 5 stars.

Very disappointing late breakfast, this weekend. Staff was friendly and attentive and the biscuit was decent, but the rest of the experience was dismal. Had a two egg omelette. Ham was terribly salty and like the grits(will get to that in a minute) the chef’s interpretation of cheese is: Cold, shredded cheese sprinkled on top of stuff. «Melted» wasn’t contemplated. The tomato slices riding on top of the folded eggs were cold and the cheese shreds on top looked like they started to melt, but stopped about 1⁄16 of the way to the ideal state. Then, the grits. Cool temp, at best, sprinkled with cold cheddar shreds and, at the bottom of the styrofoam cup/bowl was a layer of(you guessed it) cold, shredded cheddar. Not good. Biscuit was decent and the only thing I finished. Actually, the only thing that earned more than one bite. My wife’s meal was an equally sad effort. Bummer.

I’ve had this place multiple times! They have the best biscuits. Today I had the breakfast bowl! Amazing! It can take awhile to get your food but with the atmosphere it’s okay. Very homey feel.

Friendly staff, solid breakfast joint in an area that lacks breakfast options. I will be returning, had the chicken and egg biscuit.

So close to being great. Excellent homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, respectable bacon. But then bland, flavorless frozen fried chicken strips.

Cozy spot in downtown Kennesaw serving breakfast and brunch. I had the Dirty Bird, which is a chicken biscuit, with egg and cheese covered in gravy of your choice with onion rings on top. My wife had the Benton BLT and fried okra. Very good food and solid, friendly staff ready to greet and serve you. We will be back! By the way these guys are CLOSEDONMONDAY.

Our first visit here was for Saturday brunch. My husband ordered the special, called the Dirty Bird, and my daughters and I ordered fried chicken biscuits and a breakfast plate. The Dirty Bird was a fried chicken filet with onion rings, eggs, and tomato gravy. The tomato gravy was absolutely fantastic. It tasted sort of like a thick tomato soup, so pile that on top of fried chicken and onion rings and you’ve got a winner. The biscuits are excellent. You can tell they are made fresh. My daughter ordered turkey bacon with her breakfast plate and it was seriously the best turkey bacon I have ever had. I was slightly disappointed when my fried chicken biscuit arrived with chicken fingers on it instead of the chicken filet that was on the special, but it still tasted great. We also ordered a peach cobbler which was very good but had a biscuit crust instead of a pie crust which is not my preference. Our family of 4 had a huge breakfast and dessert for $ 30. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been looking for good biscuits and gravy since I moved to Kennesaw 2 years ago and FINALLY, right around the corner is EXACTLY what I wanted! Something so simple shouldn’t be so easy to mess us but apparently it is. The Ugly Biscuit does it RIGHT! Inexpensive and delicious. Bravo! I won’t go anywhere else.

First, the good. The restaurant is easy to find. Parking is good. The place is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Now, the rest. The ventilation seems inadequate. As soon as I walked in the door, a burning odor of overcooked food hit me. By the time I left, my clothes reeked. I was here for breakfast. The menu is fairly standard. It is a biscuit place, so if you’re in the mood for an omelet or Eggs Benedict, keep on rolling. The coffee and some food items(e.g., grits) are served in styrofoam. Tableware comes wrapped in a napkin; however, there is no spoon. I stirred my coffee in its styrofoam cup with a knife. We’re not talking«formality» here. The food preparation was a bit below average. I ordered eggs over easy; one was hard-fried. The bacon was overcooked: hard and crunchy. The biscuit was average. There were jams and jellies on the table for the biscuits, but no honey. The coffee had a slightly burnt taste. I really wanted to like the place: I try to help startup businesses, and I am always happy to see a new restaurant in The Land That Time Forgot(downtown Kennesaw). Overall, however, I was disappointed.

Ugly indeed… If you are going to feature the word«biscuit» in your name it better be a darn good one. They are leaden and flavorless, and by all appearances had been cooked the day before. We were there right at opening time on a Sunday and would have expected hot, fresh, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits. The grits were uncooked and resembled an unattractive sand soup. Sometimes great service can make up for a lot, but our server seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but in this restaurant. We also did not appreciate the loud conversation between another server(who was doing side work out in font of everyone) and the owner. Bottom line, don’t bother.

As any of my followers know, I don’t give 5’s very often… but I truly believe this restaurant deserves it. I can’t think of anything I would change. Enjoyed it so much that we went two days in a row(and if it were closer to me, I would go over and over!). The restaurant is new and although they say they had a rough opening, they have worked hard to improve everything that was an issue the first week. We spoke to the owner both times we were there and he was wonderful. When we complimented him on the grits(perfect) and the bacon(also perfect), he told us all about his farm-to-table philosophy and even told us where they both came from(the grits are fresh ground… no instant grits, and the bacon is bought from a curmudgeon [look it up!] who only sells his fresh product to people he takes a liking to). The service is amazing, especially considering that none of the servers have a restaurant background. They are learning fast and are very friendly, knowledgeable, and just plain nice! As mentioned above, the grits and bacon are freakin’ amazing. I got plain grits one day and the delicious cheese grits the next day. The biscuits are huge and, although they are a little crumbly, they are tender and moist. They are NOT crumbly because they are dry… they are delicious. I got a bacon biscuit the first time and, as mentioned above, the bacon is delicious. My friend got the steak biscuit(which I would never order in a restaurant because I have found them to be tough in most restaurants)…she had me try it and it was so tender and amazing that I ordered one the next day. We asked about their gravies(5 different kinds) and the owner brought us samples to try(so good that we ended up getting side orders of ALL five to take home). Again, I could find nothing to complain about. I hope they continue to do well! It’s a 45 minutes drive for me and I will be a regular!

My husband and I returned the Sunday after our original visit. We sat at the bar and got to speak with both owners. My husband had the brisket on a biscuit and loved every bite of it. It came with a side of homemade bbq sauce that was delicious. I had to fight my husband for a bite, and I loved it too. I had the special, Two in the Hand, with the eggs cooked with spinach and feta. The fruit cup was citrus fruit(grapefruit and oranges) and very fresh. I had a side of chicken sausage and it was yummy. We will be back to try more items.

I come from a long line of biscuit eaters. This place has a unique biscuit that is excellent. If I didn’t live twenty mile away this would be my go-to breakfast spot.

I happened to pass by earlier in the week and then decided to give it a whirl. I was seated quickly and ordered the full breakfast platter. The eggs were perfectly over easy, the country ham delicious and the bacon was thick, smoked and definitely not Oscar Mayer(a good thing). The biscuit was perfect to sop up the egg. It’s great to have a new local place in downtown Kennesaw. I will definitely be back.
