I love taking my dogs here to get groomed. It’s usually pretty quick and not quite as spendy as other places can be. They always listen well to what I ask for.

My dog loves coming here for his grooming. He’s always excited and happy when he arrives to the friendly staff, and leaves happy, relaxed, and well groomed. They always have appointments available for when he needs it and I never worry about leaving our pup here

We just tried them this last weekend for dog grooming. They did an amazing job! And our dogs looked really good when we picked them up. I don’t thing our dogs had a bad time either. They even said that our Golden did an awesome job. Other groomers have had a bad time with him. He can be very stubborn and hard headed!
We’ll so be going back here again~~~~

I have shopped here for the last 20 years. Staff is always very helpful and the grooming services they offer are amazing! Diana has been grooming my ShihTzu for the last 10 years and he is always so excited to see her! Huge selection of quality dog & cat food. Won’t shop anywhere else!

Just got our cat back from Maser’s. This Persian came to them with NO tangles whatsoever. Because she is a rescue cat, her fur is kept shaved almost to the skin. We ask for a lion cut because then she has cute little slippers and a lion mane around her neck. In the 4 years we’ve had her, she has emerged from her carrier and struts to show off her new «do». Finally, Maser’s said the cost would be $ 60.00 because she had no mats. Well… they charged $ 70.00. The cut was simply a shave; no slippers; no main. Most disturbingly, when Maisie got home and exited her crate — she ran under the bed. A brief glimpse as she ran and her fur was so unevenly cut. An hour later she is still there.
I would NEVER take any animal to this «groomer». I won’t tell Maisie, but she really looks ugly.
Maser’s looks like a dump; cob webs all over the grooming place and the store. Oh, and have fun running up and down the hill as you drop off the cat at one place, pay at another and go back down the hill to pick her up. (Of course they don’t tell you this when you make an appointment.)
This groomer has been in the business for decades. Suggest it’s time for her to retire.
I still don’t know if there are any nicks or too-​close-​to-​the-​skin shaving. Maisie is still ashamed to show us.
Why are places like this unregulated and allowed to provide atrocious work at premium prices? By the way, in talking with the groomer, she checked out Maisie and noted she had no mats or tangles. That’s because I brush her every day. And she loves being groomed. Did I mention the groomer did NOT trim her back nails? This was a special request.
We just moved here, so we will begin a new search. I intend to take Maisie in her present «style» to show other groomers and make my choice accordingly. I just hope she didn’t pick up diseases while in their care and in this dump.

The owners are very knowledgeable and I’m a long-​time customer. Every time I visit, I receive very helpful advise about a variety of species. I like their service and their selection, and am very happy to support a family-​owned business (instead of a big box store). I’d prefer they didn’t offer a vaccine clinic, but I suppose it serves a segment of the pet-​owning population and is better than nothing.

I bring my standard schnauzers to Masers for grooming by Denise. I find the prices reasonable and I’m always pleased with the quality of the grooming. Denise listens to my special requests and is very responsive. I do not consider going any place else!

This review is for the grooming part of the business.
A friend had recommended Maser’s to me for my cat Max. He’s a large Maine Coon & his fur had started to get matted & his back end was looking icky. I called and requested Marnie but unfortunately she had just had wrist surgery and wouldn’t be available for a month. Max couldn’t wait that long. Went ahead & made an appointment to bring him in on Saturday morning. They said that’s when the did cats. I assumed there would be no dogs there then to scare my cat. Unfortunately there were 2 dogs there. Luckily Max was in his crate & didn’t freak out too bad. We filled out our paperwork & left Max with the groomer. They said it could be up to 2 hours. Luckily it was only 1 hour. Offered a bath & a shave and just opted for shave only. No need to traumatize him any more than necessary.
He feels and looks amazing now. Like a new cat. Did find 2 little knicks on his skin but I think that’s not too horrible for the amount of shaving they had to do on him. $ 60 which I feel is reasonable and hopefully will never have to do it again.

Ok, I walked in and said I need a cut done right away for my dog and will pay extra for priority service. They said they can do it and will call me when done. I came back 90 minutes later and they told me it would be 2 more hours! Unacceptable, especially because I specifically asked if they could do it fast and I did not have time otherwise. So, I will not be coming back.

My husband has previously taken the fur kid here to get her nails trimmed and really liked the place and the groomer that helped him. So, upon hearing the click clack of Daisy’s nails on our walk, I decided to try them out for myself. What an experience.
My husband had previously told me that you need to pay upstairs and then take the dog down to the grooming side. So I walked into the store, stood around the counter for a few minutes waiting for a sales clerk. When one finally appeared I explained I wanted to get my dog’s nails trimmed. She very curtly replied I needed to go downstairs and began to turn away from me to leave the counter again. I said I thought I needed to pay first. She said only if I was paying with a card, which I was so she had to help me after all. I got that squared away, then got my dog out of the car and headed down to the groomers.
A little bell goes off when you open the door to the groomers. No one was at the desk in the front waiting area. I could hear a dryer going in the back. I waited a few minutes, still no one. So I tried calling out to get the attention of whoever was using the dryer. No luck. I can hear a cat hissing and mewing in intervals and a woman shouting «No!» or «Stop that!» in response. Calling out again does no good. About five more minutes go by. Another gentleman comes in with a leash to pick up his dog, sounding the chime again. Still no one appears out front. Daisy, who hates the groomers is whining and pacing and anyone who knows dogs would know she’s agitated.
Another few minutes go by, the dryer finally stops and a woman with cat under her arm appears. I explain my dog needs a nail trim so she puts the cat in a cage in the back room and then comes to take my dog, grabbing the leash and getting her about halfway through the door. She sees the man waiting with the leash and asks him who he’s picking up. He tells her his dog’s name and she asks if he’s sure no one else has already picked him up because she hasn’t seen that dog in awhile — someone else had attended to the grooming earlier in the day. He assures her they still have his dog. She hands me back the leash for my dog and sets off to go collect his dog.
She comes back a few minutes later and tells him his dog isn’t there — the only animal she has is the cat. The man calls his wife just to make sure she didn’t pick up the dog. No. The dog should be at the groomers. The groomer runs upstairs to see if they took the dog up there once the man paid. No. The woman disappears again so the man (who is clearly starting to get angry/​worried/​panicky but yet remains collected) gets back on the phone to his wife and goes outside to look around (though the groomer has assured him the dogs can’t get out). More time goes by. The groomer comes back and asks me if the man left. I said he went outside and was on the phone. Another staff person appears out of nowhere and said he found the dog — it was still in a dryer cage. Guess the groomer didn’t look there? They finally get the dog to the owner.
At this point it has been almost a half an hour since I walked into the grooming side in the first place. I’d already paid so I just stuck it out. The lady finally takes my still clearly agitated dog, doesn’t ask me her name or anything. The groomer was likely a little shook up from what just happened, but you can tell my dog is on edge and could have used a little comforting while being coaxed to the back. Daisy is returned in just a few minutes, which I was surprised about because I know she doesn’t cooperate for nail trims (why I pay to have it done in the first place). I get her out of there because I already feel pretty terrible about the whole situation.
Upon inspection at home, the nails are shorter than they were, but not clipped as short as they could be and a few had splits. Daisy ending up seeing the vet that same week for a bad tooth and the vet commented that while they had her under anesthesia they’d «go ahead and trim her nails for me.»
Other things I noticed during the significant wait: the place was a little dirty. There was lots of animal hair everywhere, and what I could see of the back room was seemed messy/​cluttered, with grooming tools and towels stacked up on a table/​desk. It was nearing the end of the day so no way to know if it looks like that all the time. It did give me pause to wonder about the cleanliness/​hygiene of the grooming instruments.

Maser’s has been around forever. This is one of those pet stores that you pick up the bare essentials. You won’t find anything that unique here. As far as pricing, I haven’t figured it out yet. Some things are cheaper than Petsmart, and other things are more expensive. They do have birds, rats, fish, reptiles and sometimes kittens for sale.
I most recently came here to buy feeder fish for my duck Pearl. I bought 30 and some fish food for $ 7. I keep the fish in a bucket and give her 10 a day. Yes, it makes me feel bad but Pearl is just so damn happy when I give her them in her pool!
The staff has always been nice to me, and back in the day we would get our poodles hair cut here. He always came back lookin sharp and happy.
Disturbing story: A woman comes in here to buy mice for her cat to «play with». She has a room in her house she lets the mice out and the cat tortures them. I thought this was awful :(

This review is strictly for the grooming side of the store, as the pet store itself leaves a lot to be desired. Sick looking fish, ill cared for aquariums, and a really lame employee who texts while you are asking him questions (long haired guy). NOT friendly or helpful (the owner would shudder if they read this). However, these 4 stars are for the groomer, the one I know I like a lot, I believe she is the only groomer there who specializes in cats. I told her the complicated lion’s cut I wanted on my chocolate point Himalayan, and I didn’t need to draw a picture or anything, she just «got» it. She NEVER nicks your cat with the electric razor the way the gals at Aussie do, and she’s not timid either, she is just simply GOOD at what she does. I get the feeling she has been doing it forever. So try it if you have a long hair cat or any cat for that matter. You won’t regret it.

Been going here for years, mostly for the grooming. They do a great job and are always friendly. They place isn’t fancy, but who cares as long as it’s clean and they do a good job.

Their grooming is great! Especially with poodles. The place may seems a little run down, service can be better, but all I care about is how my dog looks at the end. Good job!

I am writing this review on the retail part of the store. I take a neighbor there who has two big dogs and no car. We normally pick up a big bag of dog food and some other fun stuff for the dogs, bones shaped like toothbrushes, etc. Although I personally think the store smells kind of bad the neighbor with the dogs does not seem to mind. Frankly I think all pet stores smell. But I do have to commend one of the employees, don’t know his name but he has long hair. He was friendly and helpful and patient.

Strike 4 for Unilocal Check In! Masers has 3 entries and 2 check ins have pulled up 2 different entries. I have been coming here for years, first for tropical fish, then with kids to window shop or buy dog, cat or bird supplies. Now my daughter have moved back in with her dog so we have a pet in the house, but I am coming here for wild bird food. As with everything else, they have a great selection and great prices.

This review is for their grooming service (not the retail).
I have 2 dogs, one big and one small who need grooming a few times a year. I’ve been going to a different groomer that’s further away, was looking for an option closer to home and was delighted when I was able to get some discount vouchers to try out Maser’s.
I made an appointment, dropped the kids off and arrived back a few hours later. Keep in mind, because I had the pre-​paid vouchers, I thought all I had to do was pick them up and leave a tip. But I was told to «pay» upstairs then I could get the dogs.
The girl behind the counter looked at me blankly when I produced the vouchers (so, really, these vouchers sold by a MAJOR online company are a surprise?). «Uh,» said the clerk, «I’ll have to call downstairs.» It was like a scene from a bad movie. So up comes the woman I had just spoken to who’d told me to come upstairs and pay.
«Well» she said, «you didn’t tell me you had vouchers.» (True, I hadn’t told them because I thought I’d just show them at the register). «And you can’t use them for both dogs at the same time.» By this time I was getting frustrated because there were no instructions on the vouchers.
Anyhow, I coud go on, but the long & short of it is they did a decent, not great, job on the dogs. The girl behind the counter apologized and we parted as friends (although I’m not going back to the grooming salon any time soon).

The staff is very friendly. But I will say it really does smell in there and if the sign and outside of the building are a reflection, then they might want to step it up and fix up the place and clean up a bit.
I will say they always have the speciality type of dog food that I need, and when I told them, that one kind of food did not work, then they said to bring it back and they would give me credit. So that was really nice.
So I changed my score from a 3 to a 4.

I love this place. We’re constantly going here to buy cat food or pick up something for our gerbil’s cages. The owner is a neat guy, and every last worker is friendly.
We had to return a defective product once, and they didn’t even give us a weird look. They replaced the rodent water bottle, and even checked that the new one would work.
The only frustrating thing is that half the parking is taken up by people from the library PARKING IN THE WRONG PLACE. The owner and workers at Maser’s are doing their best to chase them off (with threats of towing and boots!) but it is really annoying to see someone take the last spot and run across the street to the library that has many, many parking spots in their parking garage.

I’ve gone to Maser’s for many years. I bought two kittens there 7 years apart. The first one passed on at 19 years old a few years ago. The other is still going strong at 16 years old. Both were healthy boys. They made me wait a few days to pick up the second one so he had his shots before I took him. I don’t really approve of pet stores selling pets, but I know Masers is providing a service to their customers by taking in litters so it seems a bit different than if they were buying from breeders.
I also use their grooming services. I have a 9 year old Maltese who has gone there monthly for her entire life. My prior Maltese went there monthly until she passed on of old age. I can’t compare Masers grooming to anyplace else as this is the only place I use.
The staff have always been friendly and helpful to me.
