We recently had a fairly large flooring project completed by Grateful Floors. All of the existing oak flooring was sanded down to bare wood and then finished with three coats of satin finish. Next we had a 200 sq ft room installed with oak planks and finished to match the existing flooring. The results were outstanding. The nice sanding job on the floors produced a very nice final finish without any sanding marks. I saved a few hundred by doing the demo myself of the existing carpet as well as taking care of the removal and re-​install of the base. All of the work was completed on time and there were no big surprises in the cost at the end. Also there was no damage caused during the project. Ron was the money guy so everything financial was handled through Ron. His brother David was the guy that did all of our work. David always showed up on time and worked non-​stop when he was here. David was also good natured. I found Ron to be a little more emotional and touchy but didn’t really have as much interaction with him. In Ron’s defense I wasn’t the easiest customer. Anytime there was a deviation from the cost, I insisted that he send a revised estimate. Also I insisted on using expansion gaps around the new flooring more in line with recommendation by floor manufactures. Overall, we are satisfied with our experience working with Grateful Floors and very happy with the final results.

The circumstances mentioned in my initial review were generally resolved.

What a stellar company. Ron and his brother took fantastic care of our hardwoods. We have a lot of traffic with four kids a cat a dog and lots of company, they were in sad shape and they now look remarkable! I found out their dad taught them their trade many years ago, these guys are professionals who know their business better than anyone I’ve worked with in the past or spoken to in the present. They were true to their estimate and their time schedule, and a delight to work with. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I called Ron out to provide a bid to refinish our floors and was impressed with him and his business professionalism. His bid was part of a major remodel and in the end we did not get the chance to work with Ron since our contract chose «his guy», a decision we wish we would have been more firm on and insisted on Ron.
So if your looking for a professional who understands and knows his craft, lives customer satisfaction, and takes pride in his work, Ron’s your guy. If you can save a few pennies with someone else, forget it. Spend a cpl of extra bucks and get this pro.

I had just recently moved to Seattle and the floors in my new home were in horrible shape. They were terribly worn and had burn marks in several places from the previous owner, who was a heavy cigar smoker. I needed to get the floors refinished before the movers brought all of my stuff up.
I called Ron on a Saturday and left a message. He not only returned my call, but came out to do an estimate that same day. His estimate was in line with 2 others I’d received, but what clinched it for me was when he said they could start on Monday. It was at least a week or more before the other 2 companies would start.
They did an excellent job, the floors look like new and the burn marks were completely erased. They also came in below the estimated cost when it was all done. Considering the value this added back to my property I can’t recommend them highly enough

We had some minor water damage on our hardwood floor from a kitchen sink that had been leaking. A few of the boards had noticeable curled up a bit, nothing major, but visible and annoying. We called Grateful Floors to get a quote on the repairs and Ron drove out on a Saturday morning! He took a look at the problem and said we didn’t need any work done and that he didn’t want to charge us unnecessarily… He told us to give it a couple months to completely dry out and that the boards would relax back.
I was so amazed at his honesty and willingness to turn down work I had to come give them this review. He easily could have fed us a line and charged us for repairs but instead he was straight up, honest and willing turn down work that he felt would solve itself. So even though we don’t need any work done at the moment, if we ever do, I’m calling these guys, you just don’t find this sort of genuine honesty often.

We have a big, big house in Issaquah and this company did a magnificent job with every detail. I was also extremely impressed by their punctuality; they said they would start every day at 8 am and they were here every morning at 7:55. The floors have never looked better, even when they were new. This company is excellent.

I cannot recommend Ron and Grateful Floors highly enough. Our old-​growth fir floors are more beautiful than ever. Ron artfully repaired any damage the floors had, then sanded, buffed and finished them to a silky smoothness. We are completely satisfied with the craftsmanship and professionalism of Grateful Floors.
Hire Grateful Floors! Look no further! We’re going to have the rest of our home’s floors refinished next year. I wouldn’t consider going when anyone but Ron.

Ron and Jon were life savers. My buyers just backed out from buying my house right in the middle of a move to Chicago. So since my house was empty for the next round on the market, everyone was going to see the stained and neglected hardwood floors that my oriental rugs were covering. I called Ron based on Unilocal reviews on the Friday after my buyers backed out. He was at the house that day for an estimate and lucky for me his client for the following week backed out so he got me in right away. I took Monday and Tuesday off to paint while Ron and Jon were there working. I was in such a bad mood because of the whole situation and they definitely brought a smile to my face. They were not only hard workers taking pride in their work but they were fun to chat with throughout the day. We bonded over of 70s, 80s and 90s music. For some pet stains on the floor that were not able to be sanded out, instead of charging me extra to replace with reclaimed wood, they had the ingenuity to take out the problem boards and flip them over and the problem was instantly solved. Because I have a shabby chic style, beat up floors never bothered me but now I’m sold on newly refinished hardwoods and that will be the first thing I do in my new Chicago house. I highly recommend Ron & Jon! They do great work. Also word of warning, the oil based sealant is very smelly and the smell lingers for a while despite my repeated attempts to air out the house. I would recommend spending the extra $ 150 or so for the water-​based non smelling finish.

Last summer I had a relatively small job refinishing the fir floor in a large closet, and also wanted the threshold replaced. Ron came out and did an amazing job on the closet floor, and instead of replacing the threshold, he removed it and did a great job matching the finish with the floor outside the closet. I was impressed with the work and when Ron suggested doing something similar to thresholds in other rooms I went for it. In two of them he had to replace the wood underneath and again did a great job matching the finish. I would have never thought of removing the thresholds and now it looks fantastic. I would certainly have Ron do any other floor work I might need in the future.

Aside from having the best name, Grateful Floors also does the best possible work. Ron’s price for Swedish finished floors was only slightly higher than companies doing pre-​finished work, and the results are astonishingly beautiful. He was a pleasure to work with, as were the two men who helped him install the floors. He also let us change our minds at the last minute about oil versus water finish, and did not gouge us over it. What a fine person and a stellar operation!

Wow, just got off the phone with this company. I don’t know who I talked to– wish I did. I asked about how much it would be to fix a gouge /​scratch in a hardwood floor and he said that we’d be better off going with wade’s furniture repair. When a company passes on business to someone they think would be a better fit, it makes me want to make sure I use them in the future. Thank you!

Ron is excellent to work with. He came in right at estimate, and a day ahead of schedule, and did a great job on our floors. Kept in touch with us through the process.
The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that there are still plenty of minor squeaks in our floors (45 year old house, oak) and with the opposite schedules of me and my spouse, I am always trying to tread quietly at the odd hours when I am awake.
We have a kitchen remodel coming up that will require putting in a few bits of new flooring and I will definitely call Ron when it’s time for that.

I really can’t say enough about the beautiful work that Ron and his assistant Jon did on refinishing the oak floors in our new home. They truly look stunning and everyone that has come into our new house notices the floors first! From the beginning, they were both such a pleasure to work with. Ron and Jon were always professional, kind, prompt, and the work was priced fairly. The care they put into prepping the floors, cleaning the entire room and any shelving for remaining wood dust (which was very little), and the final product was impeccable. I enjoyed learning about the process as he shared the techniques and various things they do to ensure a fantastic final product. If we ever need work done on our floors again, we’ll be certainly contacting Ron. Really, you don’t need to look anywhere else!

We were putting off taking up the wall to wall carpet for years, as we knew that there was a area in the hardwood that had been patched with plywood. (there was once a furnace grate there) Never the less we finally rolled up the carpet, only to find unexspected pet urine stains in the wood (turns the wood black) I called around for estimates, and chose on Greatful Floors. The price was much less than I exspected, plus he showed up on time and had excellent references. Previously the 65 year old varnished floors looked yellow, but now look lighter and brighter, and new. The patch job is seamless. I wish I had Ron do this years ago. I would defineately recommend Grateful Floors to anyone wanting a hardwood floor refinished at a very fair price.

Besides having a great business name, Ron is absolutely fantastic, he and John were there on time every single day, and Ron was very reasonable in his bid and explained the process all the way through. He obviously takes a lot of care and pride in his work and it shows. I can’t emphasize enough what a great job they did and how reasonable they were throughout the whole process, and they got things done on time!

I just bought my first home and the original red oak floors were badly stained, scuffed and heavily scratched. The transformation was nothing short of amazing. The floors look new. (They are over 60 years old!) The refinishing really brought out the beautiful color and grain of the red oak. The floors are smooth to the touch. The rooms were transformed by the refinishing. I originally got three bids from refinishers. Two quoted over $ 1800 before any repairs that might be needed. Ron was the only one who actually came out to look at the floors to give a good estimated bid. He was friendly and knowledgeable, he is a craftsman and his attention to detail is outstanding. I had one board in front of a door that had been badly damaged, he came up with a solution that blended in perfectly with the old floor boards. He took the time to explain how to care for the floors to keep them looking great. (The instructions were eco-​friendly!)
Ron was punctual, professional and delivered. The pictures say it all. I got my dream floors and I owe it all to Ron.

I recently sold my house and needed a small patch to a damaged part of my hardwood floor. Ron came out, gave me both an estimate for what that one part would be as well as what it would take to recondition the whole floor.
While I decided to just go with the patch, Ron was great to work with the whole way. Very reasonable price for the job, he was very reliable in getting the work done, and it looks beautiful.
I strongly recommend him for any work you need on your hardwood floors.

Ron is a virtuoso. He cares about doing the best job he can. When he is finished with your floor, you won’t believe it is the same one. He tapes off your important stuff (like your kitchen) to keep the dust out of your life. One can tell he has been doing his craft for a long time. Not only does Ron do an excellent job on your floors, he is professional, very pleasant and trustworthy. Ron is topnotch.

Ron at Grateful Floors was terrific. I just bought a house that had a wood floor in really bad shape with many pet urine stains but I couldn’t afford to replace them. Ron came out to look and was friendly and professional. He provided me with an estimate right on the spot and was honest about what they could probably do with them. John, one of Ron’s people who came and did a lot of the work, was courteous and informative. In the middle of the job I decided I wanted another section of the floor that was particularly bad replaced. It was no problem for Grateful Floors.
In the end, I was extremely pleased with how the floors looked! They ended up WAY better than I expected… and the job was done with attention to detail, on time, and on budget.
