The Kenilworth

We chose the Kenilworth as our park and fly hotel and we were not disappointed! We had booked the hotel by phone and dealt with Nicole and a second confirmation call was handled by John, both were very friendly and efficient during our reservation process, and we were confident with our reservations. We arrived late and were checked in by Rob who was very friendly and professional. We were given a second floor room and there was no elevator, as we struggled out of the lobby with 4 bags, Rob immediately stopped us and radioed for help. A nice gentleman named Bob graciously took our bags up to our, what turned out to be a beautiful room! Very clean and fresh. We did call down for wash cloths as there was only one, Bob returned with an apology a smile and our wash cloths! We couldn’t figure out the Kuerug coffee maker but Bob showed us how to use it and all was well. We slept like babies in beautiful plush beds. Our wake up call was on time and Rob informed us that we were checked out and that our Shuttle driver would meet us at the middle entrance with our copy of the bill. Thank you Rob as it was a long hallway. We stepped out of room at 5am and there was Bob with our receipt and ready to take our luggage down to the shuttle. We asked for coffee but breakfast does not start till 6am. On our way to the airport there was a drive thru dunkin donuts and Bob surprisingly pulled right in for us and made my wife very happy! (Thank you Bob!!)We were dropped off right at the terminal in under 15 minutes after leaving the hotel. From reservations to check out and drop off, we were treated like kings and received service that well exceeded our expectations. We felt that the staff anticipated our needs before we knew we needed anything. Great staff that made us feel like family! Thank you Bob, Rob, Nicole and John!!! We will definitely be back!!!

Came for Mother’s Day brunch. Very disappointed. $ 150 for 3 people. Food was substandard & cold. Tables were not cleaned. Will not come again.

We stayed here the night before a flight out of Newark Airport. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The rooms were clean and recently updated. The staff was very friendly, and the airport shuttle service was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for an easy place to stay before a flight.

Exactly what it should be for a great hotel. Access is easy. Parking is easy. Rooms are nicely decorated with a modern flare. It is quiet. This is now my go to place that I will be staying in for All future trips to New Jersey.
It is good business travelers or families or just those that are passing through.

Had my bridal shower here and looking to have my baby shower here as well!

Staff is friendly and helpful space is gorgeous. Have three different rooms to choose from depending on party size.
My favorite is the arbor room. Soo much natural sun through the big windows.
For bridal shower had brunch which was delicious the penne vodka sauce was best I ever had!

Odd numbered rooms look out at the Garden State Parkway and the higher numbered rooms are closer and closer to the Parkway due to the shape of the property and the angle of the road so if you are a light sleeper request an even number room facing the other direction /​parking lot

Booked a stay here after searching on Unilocal and
. The hotel is very lovely, it’s in a little cut, and the workers are very friendly and accommodating. The room is beautiful with a mini refrigerator, a a sitting area with a couch, and a beautiful large bathroom. The décor is real cozy and warm. I really enjoyed my night stay. I will definetly make this hotel a favorite. Also it’s close to the highway which can be good for travel convenience.

Loved my stay here. Staff was wonderful, rooms were clean and comfortable, and the inside of the hotel was very modern. Not too far from the airport as well.
Had a little issue with check in though. I booked a king sized room a month in advance through their website. When my girlfriend and I went to check in the day of, they said they couldn’t find my name/​reservation. I had to show them my confirmation number and gave them the information. He researched it in the system and found it. We got our room key after signing some paperwork and went on our way. When we walked into the room, it was a double room. I went back to the front desk and told them I had booked a king executive room, and I was told they were all sold out of those (I’m assuming because it was Valentine’s weekend). I told them that I had booked this a month in advance so I should’ve gotten the king size room. They said they would check if any were available to switch with me. They were able to so we got the room I originally asked for.
Bed was a little soft so my back was a little sore when I woke up. But the blankets were very comfortable so I was cozy. No breakfast included though, there is an extra surcharge. Not a huge deal though, my girlfriend and I just went somewhere else for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a hotel in the general area though.

The Kenilworth satisfied a lot of the qualities I look for in a hotel. The building looks like it was built in the 70s, but the amenities are modern. Décor is a charming mid-​century modern kind of feel.
The rooms are clean and updated. My room had a fridge, microwave and tv. TV had a lot of channels so it was perfect for lounging about.
The bar experience was the standout. The people were accommodating to our channel change request (my coworker wanted to watch hockey). They even helped us find a great diner!
Only thing I can knock is the lack of an elevator, which could be a problem for extended stays. I’d be back if I’m in the area.

It was a wonderful stay at The Kenilworth. I’ll spare the small talk and get right to the nitty-​gritty:
Layout
Overall, the layout of The Kenilworth is easy to navigate. From the parking lot, you need to have your key card to access the building (great for security reasons). One negative aspect with The Kenilworth is the lack of an elevator. Be aware of this in advance, especially if you have an ample amount of luggage that needs to be transported to a different floor other than the ground floor. My suggestion would be to ask for a room on the ground floor if the lack of an elevator is going to be an inconvenience.
Hotel Room
I stayed in the Premium King room, which came with a king-​sized bed. Upon initial arrival and inspection, the room was clean and organized. While the bathroom did not have a walk-​in shower, the simple bath tub/​shower curtain combo worked fine. There was a complimentary hair dryer in the hotel room, so for anyone who needs a hair dryer, there you go. The refrigerator and microwave that came with the room worked well. If you are coming here to get a great window-​view of the city, you will be in for some disappointment! Instead, you’ll have an exclusive, can’t miss view of the parking lot. Another note, the room came with complimentary WI-​Fi.
Staff/​Customer Service
Throughout my 5-​day stay, all of the staff were friendly. If I had a question for Guest Services, they were able to answer without issue. There were two separate issues that I had to take care of that The Kenilworth staff took care painlessly; one of those issues involved requesting a one-​day extension.
Food
N/​A for this section. I did not get a chance to experience the complimentary breakfast (that’s my own undoing) nor the bar.
Nearby Spots
There is a shopping center and a gas station within walking distance, while Garden State Parkway is less than 1 min driving distance.
Other Notes
If you are looking to go to New York from The Kenilworth, there is a shuttle that takes you to Roselle Park Train Station. The same shuttle does transportation to the Newark International Airport.

The hotel is quite unique as it is not the typical chain. The rooms were clean and modern. Each room had a Keurig and they had a bridal gift waiting for us in our suite. The staff worked with our large wedding group even to the point of including some of our latecomers. The site is conveniently located close to Newark and offers a shuttle to the airport and nearby rail stations. We enjoyed getting together at the bar downstairs and the bartender was fun to get a drink from. Sadly the pool was closed but the gazebo served for some great pre-​wedding pictures. The breakfast was quite well and all our guests enjoyed their stay.

Flight was cancelled so JetBlue sent us here. The shuttle that picked us up was driven by Bob. Instantly, he made the entire lot of us feel comfortable by apologizing for our experience and assuring us that where we were going was a great place. He was friendly and helpful, which helped after a rough day.
The hotel itself was very nice, recently renovated, but JetBlue did not check with them before sending us over and the hotel was out of rooms. The great staff booked us at a local hotel and even scheduled a taxi for us the next day to get us to the airport. Bob again shuttled us over and was great to talk to.
The next morning, Bob was outside waiting for us. He didn’t want us to take a taxi, so he came over and waited.
This is the kind of incredible service you don’t see anymore. We weren’t even staying at the hotel, yet we were treated as royalty.
I will definitely be staying at the Kenilworth next time I’m in the area.

Excellent accommodations. We stayed here as a last minute stay to do college tours in Madison NJ. It was not too far but other hotels were booked and more expensive. We had two 17 year olds and my wife and I all rested comfortably. The continental breakfast was the usual and the staff was super friendly. The only minor issue was parking.

I happened to be staying at the Hilton midtown the night before coming out to Jersey for business. When I arrived here i was quite surprised, the rooms at The Kenilworth were much nicer then the room i was in at the Hilton. If you need to be in this area, i would recommend taking a look at this hotel.

Stayed again recently and the entire lobby and bar is redone as well. Looks great! Breakfast is a little light, (continental at best) nowadays even budget hotels have a hot breakfast buffet. But overall it’s still the best place to be in the area!

I went to bed early only to be up tossing and turning for 2 hours in the middle of the night…
iv stayed at kenilworth inn a few times…
cons:
–i remember one time iv decided to extend my stay for a whole week but had to move to a different room… The smell of the room was moldy… I gagged a few times… You really have to check out those hotel rooms in advance…
–the staff once walked in on me while there was a «do not disturbed» sign on my door… that really pissed me off… that only happened once… it was something that shouldn’t of happened at all…
–no complimentary breakfast

The renovations are done and the results were worth the wait. This is the hotel to stay in if you are in the area. The décor may be a bit quirky but the rooms are clean and bright. The pub has been re-done…comfortable and inviting.

What an awesome hotel. It should be noted, this hotel underwent complete renovations and older reviews (like more than 6 months old) are not applicable to this hotel now. The construction is all done and the hotel looks great. Very modern décor yet also comfortable. The rooms are clean, new beds, modern bathrooms, and nice 42″ HDTVs. The free breakfast has cereal, waffles, bread, bagels and rolls.
The staff is professional, friendly and helpful. The location is a little far from important sites (Newark Airport is probably a 20 minute drive with minimal traffic). But i think a lot of receptions and events will be held here. And the accommodations are on point. A really nice redo and great boutique feeling hotel.

Came here few times 10 plus years ago. Well, the Kenilworth inn has had a face lift since than.
This is worth it’s price. The area hotels charging $ 190 – 250 a night. Here the price is reasonable and worth the money.
The New face lift is much appreciated. Colors of the room, room furniture and the entire look is equal of their competitors. Definitely a place to keep in mind for a get away night. Has an outdoor pool if you make a summer visit. Definitely a place to send any out of town guess that is visiting.
