Kemah Boardwalk Inn

I stayed here one night for a women’s retreat. I had a single room with a King-​sized bed to myself.
Room overlooked the courtyard where shops and concerts are, had a spacious bathroom and general square footage, closet space with hangers, clean linens on bed and in bathroom, complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and hair dryer use.
Extremely nice front desk gal who helped me use their wifi after multiple calls (Thankful for their patience with me!)
The lobby area was clean and themed perfectly. Elevators located conveniently for easy access to rooms (right in front of the desk). Ample parking in the garage connected to the hotel. Direct access to shops from the hotel garage.
Overall I enjoyed my stay and hope to be back soon! Thank you Boardwalk Inn for a first class experience and many blessings to you in the future.

I’m torn over this hotel because there’s so much good, but the noise makes it hard to completely love it…
I’m not sure what hotel the people who have said that it needs an update were staying in, because this hotel is super cute and darling. Soft colors, subtle beachy décor, and extra large open rooms with high ceilings, I loved the look throughout the place.
The staff was very helpful to us, we had just debarked from our cruise and wanted to spend the day at the Space Center but didn’t want to leave our luggage in our car. So while we were at the Space Center they secured our luggage for us until our room was ready, and then placed our luggage into our room so when we came in at the end of the night all we had to do was get our room key and that was it. So we appreciated that accommodation.
The parking is confusing at first since everywhere is asking you to pay for parking. Don’t do that. Go up to the second floor of the garage, there is a 15 minute parking for the Inn there that you’ll use while you unload and check in. Once you’ve checked in there is a gated section on the 2^nd floor for Inn customers to use, so that was very nice since it’s extremely convenient to the Inn doors and you don’t have to go hunting for a parking spot since they’re reserved for you.
The location is wonderful, the Boardwalk is fun with lots of restaurants, rides, and shops. I loved that even though it was in the evening (9-​ish) I was able to walk down past all the attractions and get a Starbucks and not feel at all unsafe since there were still many people out and security around as well.
Now with the location comes the downside of the hotel… the walls are paper thin.
A group of loud people came down our hall at around 11 pm and it sounded as if they were in the room with us. People outside, below our room (on the 4^th floor), sounded as if they were standing on our balcony. And then the fun boardwalk outside became quite annoying when that (previously adorable) little train, and the (previously fun and festive) blaring Christmas music lasted until well after 11 pm when we had been told it would stop at 9:30…
Luckily I am a heavy sleeper and was able to sleep through it, once I was able to not be startled by people screaming outside or the train whistle long enough to actually fall asleep. And luckily my husband who is a light sleeper to an extreme was so knocked out by his suddenly developed cold that he slept through it all except the group of people who sounded like they were in our room.
So this is where I’m torn because I loved the place, and the look and everything else and would love to go back and enjoy the boardwalk attractions (we weren’t able to since my husband had the sudden cold) but I’m not sure how enjoyable it can be if you don’t get a good night’s rest because of the noise and that train…

I was expecting a little more for the price. Rooms were cut with nautical theme. Looking a little run down. Staff friendly. Perfect location for hanging out at the Kemah boardwalk.

We have stayed here several times we have had the presidential suite, premium suite to their standard room. Being it was Labor Day weekend we weren’t able to get a suite. Room number we had was #326 great view of the water & band stage awesome band that night. The room is nice but the bathroom really needs some updating & they really need to update the TV’s in the rooms they are old & way to small for the size of the room @ least that was the situation in room # 326. Staff is always wonderful & it is a great location. Great hotel for family fun or a romantic getaway. Hope to return soon.

I wish I could give this two and a half stars but I can’t. So I’ll round up for the nice staff, the cute décor and the location. But when I saw that people were paying hundreds of dollars for a room I got sad. That’s ridiculous!
The location of my room was really fun– our balcony was directly out front of the fountain. If it had been a weekend or summer night we could’ve had a great view of fireworks or the band. But it wasn’t summer and we didn’t have a view of anything except the fountain.
Walking to our room there were towels spread all over the carpet for about ten feet with ‘wet floor’ signs and fans blowing. A musty smell was a great finishing touch.
The train is loud and extremely consistent. Two train whistles, pause, two train whistles, pause. Finally I called the front desk and asked when it would stop. It stopped around 9:30 and the lady told me it wouldn’t start again til 11 am. It started again at 9 am. 9 am!!! I’m sorry but if kemah wants to make money on a hotel they need to hold the train off until everyone has a chance to comfortably wake up. At the very VERY least restrict the trains whistle!
The room was a pretty color and I appreciated the decorative tile in the bathroom. There are no curtains. Only shutters. Shutters do not keep out the light efficiently. It was really dissapointing to expect a restful sleep to be woken up to sun and train whistles.
There is no mini fridge. There are 20 cable channels on a small flat screen.
This hotel was fine. Fine is a good word for it. You can absolutely stay here and have a nice time. Please do not pay tremendous amounts for it. It isn’t worth the prices I’m seeing that people are paying. Yes, it’s close to the boardwalk. But I’m sorry, it just isn’t a 200 dollar hotel.

I Booked a room using
, and reservation was for room including a king bed. What I remembered being one of the nicer hotels in this area, apparently isn’t any longer. (My boyfriend is currently working at a nearby refinery this was to be a getaway for one night.) He arrived before me, checked in and discovered we were placed in a room with double beds. He was already stating the room was nothing to be impressed by it was outdated and seemed only mediocre. I sent confirmation to him to show the front desk showing we were to get a king room. He called aggravated and said «They gave away our room to other guest, and they are booked»
So I quickly called, to clarify and see if we could be placed in the original room booked. Then I was told the same thing. «Yes, you booked a king but we currently do not have one, we’ve given yours away. However, we upgraded you to the plaza side» well Whoop-​d-​Doo… We can enjoy the plaza side in separate beds… I think not!
I asked why we were not informed before I made a 90 minute drive, to the room I booked over a week ago. Her response «Yea, they should have but I guess they didn’t» Gold star for her going above and beyond.
She then told me she couldn’t cancel the room, to contact
since its a third party booking. So while the boyfriend is looking for another room, im dealing with cancellation refund etc.
then puts me on hold so they can call the hotel… It’s a cluster. They did refund me without any fees, appreciated but I feel I was owed that.
All in all, our night away was less than relaxing, we ended up booking Holiday Inn which was right by Boardwalk. When we arrived the boyfriend said this is much nicer, updated, and clean in comparison to the Boardwalk Inn. Two stars for being uninformed, forgotten and not accommodated.

My husband and I came to Kemah for our anniversary and really enjoyed it!
The good: The boardwalk inn was very nice and the location is unbeatable! They provide free and convenient parking for guests of the hotel. The room was very comfortable and I slept like a baby in the king sized bed.
The bad: Unfortunately, for the price we paid per night (over $ 350), I would have expected MUCH more. Admittedly, I should have done more research, but I was surprised to find that there is no restaurant in the hotel… so no room service. While the staff was very nice and helpful, there were not enough of them. The girl checking us in had to answer the phone and was on the phone helping someone else for 5 minutes while we were standing there waiting. Also, the atmosphere is super fun, because you can watch everything from the balcony, but the train runs past 11:30 pm and blares the horn the entire time.
If I had paid $ 200 for this room, I would be giving 5 stars, I just expected much more for the price!

Stayed for a long weekend here with my husband. We loved that there was so much to do, but were baffled at the bedding situation. How can a hotel not use fitted sheets on their beds? We woke up several times during the night with sheets twisted and a rough blanket. Needles to say if I come again I’ll bring my own fitted sheet :/

Staff was extremely rude when our reservation wasn’t immediately found. The hotel is in desperate need of an update and at $ 170+ per night, it’s grossly overpriced. There is an odd musky smell throughout the hotel.
I can’t believe this place has as many positive reviews as it does.
The staff was extremely rude upon arrival and the entire hotel had some awful musky smell. They could not find my reservation at first, which prompted them to become even grouchier. Then, as we head to our room, there are children playing in the hallway on air mattresses unsupervised. I called to let management know, and of course, was snapped at. It’s extremely outdated at $ 300 per night. This poor other fellow was pushing around a whole cart full of luggage without help because there is no management or staff other than the front desk. What
kind of hotel charges $ 300 per night and doesn’t have valet or a bellhop? Answer: this one.
We stayed an hour before I’d had enough and promptly checked out. I filed a report with my credit card company for dissatisfaction and will call Expedia and explain how awful this place is.
HIGHLY HIGHLY overpriced and outdated. The carpet looks to have never been cleaned or replaced in 15 years.
Save your money and rent a room at the San Luis in Galveston if you want to pay for an expensive room, it’s cheaper there!
Walls are thin and you can hear people talking from 3 stories down below. The room is $ 170 per night and they give you a little 27″ TV. Please image what’s wrong with this picture.

As good as our stay was last year, this year was not so buneo. We made reservations for their off site condominium for a first floor room (which is actually a second floor room because the ground level is parking, but whatev’s). When we arrived and got our keys to the condo we were stoked to get to bed as it was nearly midnight! We drove the short distance to the condo and parked. the parking area was nearly pitch black except for the light from our phone/​flashlights. Up the stairs we went only to find out we’d been given a 3^rd floor condo. Not at all what we’d requested. Undaunted we went to bed and woke up the next morning ready to take on the day. First, to grab a little grub before hitting the boardwalk and the aquarium. Now, I expect to pay a little more for things at a place like this, but I ordered breakfast for us all at Bayside Grille, the little on site deli. Two breakfast burritos, biscuits and powdered gravy with a few chunks of sausage, a breakfast croissant, a Dr. Pepper, an orange juice and a half pint of milk. total bill…$ 40! the half pint of milk was $ 2.99! yes, that’s American dollars, not pesos or anything! The rest of the trip went fine with no major issues and the staff was friendly. Not as friendly as our last visit, but friendly enough. When we checked out one lady DID offer us free breakfast for the inconvenience of the 3^rd floor stay, but since the $ 40 breakfast we’d had the previous morning was pretty bad we passed on the offer. Today I check my credit card bill and I’ve been charged 3 times for the room. I called the hotel and was told the accounting person was out today. C’mon, Boardwalk, you can do better! I want to come back but I’m not sure I can talk the missus into it.

Very convenient right on the Boardwalk. Rooms very clean and spacious. A little pricey but you’re paying for the great location. If you want quiet this is NOT the place. Boardwalk music right outside makes you feel like there is a band in your room with no way to make it quiet. Can’t even hear the TV so you might as well go out and enjoy the music. I was in Kemah for a very early morning event but no early evening or afternoon rest possible. Come for the fun not quiet.

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and what a lovely greet from their staff. The room was very spacious and the balcony scenery over the patio was enjoyable. Only one bad comment to leave the bed was lumpy and the sheets were itchy. Will I stay again probably not.

The use of full size beds instead of queens in the two bed rooms is a poor choice. The walls are thin and you can hear everything in the adjoining rooms. The internet is of such poor quality that if it loads it may take ten minutes or more. The hotel is over priced and poor quality.

The place is really cute and the lobby smelled amazing, really cute.
We were the guest of the day and got 2 free cups of coffee and 2 beignets.
The good ended there.
Hard bed. Loud air conditioner. Shutters that allow A LOT of light in. People were shouting outside of our room at 4 am.
We enjoyed the stay but didn’t sleep well.

This review is for their customer service and reservation process, as we didn’t end up staying, after all. We made a reservation here on a Friday, for a trip that’d be Saturday-​Monday.
I had called to create the reservation, and it was immediately not the best experience.
I started speaking with a woman — we were wanting a suite with a secondary adjoining room. The adjoining room was the important part. When speaking with the woman, she said one would be a king, the other would have two double beds. I asked if she had anything with a queen bed instead, as double beds wouldn’t work. She said oh, she meant that there were two queen beds. I thought it was strange, but took it as her misspeaking initially. There was an issue getting adjoining rooms, and she wanted to make sure she could do it, so she said she’d put me on hold to speak with her supervisor and get back to me. I waited a few minutes, then had a new woman answer with a generic intro. I explained that I was just on hold while the other woman tried to get a particular room. She put me back on hold for a few minutes, then came back and gave me the same generic intro — it probably just looked like another incoming call, I guess.
I gave up on the other woman and started working with the second one (Samantha). I went through all of the details again, that we were looking for a suite with a king bed and an adjoining room. Again we had the doubles? No, queens! conversation, but eventually, we got it sorted. The reservation was placed and we received the confirmation emails.
Today, the day of our arrival, I received a voicemail that they were calling to confirm the reservation and check arrival time. The voicemail mentioned double beds. I called in to confirm, and was back on the line with Samantha. We went to cover the reservation, and I was attempting to confirm that the beds were queens, not doubles. She informed me that my father had called in and said a room with double beds. I informed her that that was impossible, and we eventually figured out that she was looking at a different reservation with the same last name — she even asked me if [first and last name of other guest] was my father. That was a bit odd, but whatever. She got a supervisor on the line (not per my request) and things went even further downhill from there.
The supervisor found the correct reservation, however, neither of the rooms were a suite. She also informed me that they do not have queen beds, only doubles and kings.
This is where the one-​star review comes in. When I mentioned that it would be a problem, her reply was «Well, do you want to cancel, then?» Keep in mind, we were already in the car on the four-​hour trip to the hotel at this point.
I had been entirely polite throughout — I wasn’t yelling, didn’t swear, wasn’t being rude — my travel buddy even commented afterwards that he was impressed with how polite and patient I was throughout the call.
I turned to my travel buddy, asked him, and he was so taken aback by that being the supervisor’s first suggestion, that he simply agreed. When I said «Okay, well, yeah, I guess we’ll cancel then,» her immediate reply was «Wait, let me see what we can do for you!» Apparently, she didn’t expect me to call her bluff.
She said she could book us two side-​by-​side king rooms (still no suites — we would have happily paid the additional), but by this point, we had been on the phone for a while, and the whole reason we had gone through the entire thing was for the adjoining rooms, so we ended up canceling.
I can’t speak for the quality of the stay, but I can say that if you’re going to book a room, it is highly advisable that you book it online and avoid their reservations team entirely.

This is our favorite anniversary spot. We’ve been twice now. As a mom with 2 kids, when we get a break, we aren’t interested in doing anything but relaxing & this is the perfect place for us. Staying here makes it nice because everything is at your finger tips, well maybe not fingertips, but within walking distance anyhow.
The rooms are nice but look a little bit dated, but that doesn’t bother us and I guess it fits with the theme of staying on the bay. That said though, they keep the place very clean. They layout is a bit different, but it works well because it keeps non-​guests that are enjoying the boardwalk sights from wandering the place. The service is excellent. The front desk is quick to send help. Our last trip I had problems connecting to the wi-​fi & they hunted up one of their employees to come help me figure out that it was my security settings. They brought us extra pillows, a fan & they will get you priority seating reservations at the restaurants on the boardwalk. There are no micro-​fridges in them like most hotels these days, but we just took a soft sided cooler to our room to keep water, tea & sodas in. It’s a pretty big bummer, but I guess it keeps people from bringing a bunch of food in the rooms so they are more apt to go to the restaurants on the boardwalk instead.
Also, if you’re like us & don’t really care to go anywhere get a Landry’s membership & use it at all the restaurants on the boardwalk. We used ours enough over the course of 4 days to get $ 50 free for dining & nearly had enough points for $ 75 worth of rewards. If you like to leave the boardwalk though it might not be worth it. This is the only place we use ours because we’re pretty lazy vacationers & don’t want to spend time in the car anymore hunting for places to eat or things to do.
As other reviewers have mentioned it can be very busy and noisy at times, but it seems like that is only on the weekend nights, the weeknights we were there were pretty calm. I would recommend checking the Boardwalk calendar & finding a weekend that a band is playing & spend part of the evening sitting on the balcony sipping a fruity drink & listening to the band.
This isn’t directly a part of the Inn, but for a bit of super cheap entertainment, there are a lot of catfish under the dock behind the Cadillac bar restaurant that you can feed. Literally thousands of them. There are so many that they have trouble swimming when you throw food in the water. They have little gumball time machines that you can put quarters in to get food to feed them with. We ended up buying a small bag of cat food at Target to feed them when we figured out it was basically the same stuff. Oh and don’t forget to got to feed the stingrays at the reef restaurant place. It’s not as cheap as the catfish, but worth doing at least once for the experience.
Also, if you get a chance, go sailing on the Captain Kidd ship at sunset. Not part of the boardwalk, but it’s there in the marina. That was fun & very relaxing.
Ok, I’ll stop rambling now.

Don’t stay here if you want an afternoon nap. There’s a lot going on just outside your window. Not a negative, just sharing that information.
I’ve never seen a desk staff as well trained as this one. They are very professional and courteous. I listened to one lady answer a phone call and was impressed with the service and detail she provided.
The water pressure in the shower could use some help, but this is a nice place.

Location is perfect. I like the rooms facing the Plaza though someone complains about the noise from the music fountain. Doesn’t affect me a bit. They charge premium prices for a room that’s so-​so in terms of decorations and amenities. But then you can’t beat the close proximity to all the actions. No breakfast provided though there’s a little Grille joint next door that opens early.

This hotel is situated all around the top of shops at the Kemah Boardwalk and all rooms include a balcony — my favorite part of the room. I was taken back to the days I lived on the coast of North Carolina when I walked into this place. It’s decorated with a nautical cottage feel. This might be a good place to stay if you want to drink it up at the bars on the boardwalk without having to worry about a DD. It can be pricey during the summer months, but it’s location is prime if you’re in the area for the boardwalk.
