Description

Specialties

Our Bar-B-Q…the finest choice pork shoulder, meaty pork ribs, heavy aged beef, and savory chicken, turkey, and sausage, uniquely seasoned with our own blend of natural spices and slow-smoked in our pits using a blend of hickory woods. All of Luke & Jakes’s Bar-B-Q meats are slow-smoked for up to 16 hours, giving that special flavor and tenderness of real down-home Bar-B-Q. Each order is skillfully pulled to order to preserve the tenderness and moistness of the meals.

Tater Tuesday: All day! Every Tuesday! Our famous Giant Stuffed Potatoes on sale!

History

Established in 1995.

Luke & Jake’s opened in August of 1995 near the University of Nebraska-Kearney campus. In 2000, Ty added Kaleb’s Frozen Kustard, which is premium frozen custard or the «best ice cream you can get.» We slow-smoke all of our meat on site using a top-of-the-line smoker and hickory wood.

Meet the Business Owner

Ty S.

Business Owner

Ty opened Luke & Jake’s Bar-B-Q in 1995, right across the street from the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus. He named the restaurant after his two children, Luke and Jake. Then, in 2001, Ty moved locations to 807 West 25th Street, which is just east of UNK. After Ty and his wife, Jane, had another child named Kaleb, he added Kaleb’s Frozen Kustard. Luke & Jake’s was the first restaurant in Kearney to offer frozen custard (aka the «best» ice cream). Ty grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and prior to moving to Kearney, worked for TransAm; Ty assisted in the startup of TransAm’s trucking business.
